The Holybourne Oil Train in June 1993 Between Farnham and Alton
Continuing with my archive of video recording between the years of 1986 to 2001 this clip is of the Holybourne Oil Train which ran to and from Eastleigh. The train used to go direct to Woking then to Alton to run round before setting into the oil terminal at Holybourne, in later years the train ran up the Waterloo to Portsmouth line via Ash, Farnham to Alton. The terminal see's no traffic today as far as I am aware but did work for over 20 years. Various traction has worked this train manly 47s or the single 37. Seen at Bentley Station, Farnham (Weydon Lane) Isington and finally Alton Station. I hope the video takes you back to this period with fond memories. Feel free to comment, good or bad, all comments are read and greatly appreciated, but it is not always possible to answer each individually. Sit back and enjoy this latest production remembering all those now long gone Locomotive classes and other types of traction. Many thanks for all subscriptions and all of those viewers who have kindly shown an interest in my material.

Much like at Ellesmere Port terminal after it too was abandoned. Anyone recall the Bitumen tanks of Cadishead, near Widnes?

@@spompey It was known as Britain's most overgrown freight track, which branched off the main line to Warrington Central. Class 56s were the usual motive power.
