@@sidpeanut I haven't read that anywhere but my 2 of my friends who got a HM and a bronze at IMO got into MIT. I am planning to go for IMO too to help with my admission.

I agree with a lot of stuff your saying lol. It really sucks that colleges don't look upon competitions like SciOly as extremely important just because so many people do them, even though many people spend so much time on it. Obviously you achieved so much in it that it was really eye-catching to MIT. Also, I really really agree when you talk about exploring your interests. It is so much more important that people know what they want to do.... it helps with everything from keeping yourself calm, choosing colleges based on specific programs rather than prestige, picking out your activities and internships, and overall just figuring out what career you will be most happy in. I am applying to schools this year actually. I wish I took your last advice and just thrown my MIT application in there, but I ran out of time and decided not to apply (I have only done business activities, no science/tech). But I am really excited I got into the UT Austin Business Honors Program!!! I'm OOS and didn't think it was possible but now there's an extremely good chance I'm going to UT. Hook 'em.

i remember that after sitting in JEE advance( that's an Indian standardise tesr) i sit for the SAT and i was shocked by the question...that how remarkably easy the math and science section was

Look at the AP Calc BC exam for a more realistic exam that gets you into a good college
@@sanp2032 Search Up the IIt entrence exam practice test questions online (JEE Exam). This test will possiably be the hardest test you will have taken. More than 1.5 million people take it, and less than 2,000 people pass it. This tests is much harder than the Calculus BC AP exam.
@@mridhanbalaji1787 I am aware of that but that's only one exam. Americans have to take about 5 college level exams if they want tog et into q college every year which individually not as hard as the JEE but these tests are consecutive so studying for all of them at once is comparable to the JEE

According to a HYPSM admissions officer, a 1570 isn't really viewed differently from a 1540
How is that ????
Because both scores show how academically good you are and both are in the 99 th percentile so it not a big difference

I have a question for anyone willing to help me out. I am in a dual credit high school program with about 90 other students from the school district in my class. So by the time I graduate I’ll have my associates degree from UNM. However I don’t go to the high school physically and don’t take their classes. So I have no AP Classes. I also have a hard time taking extra curricularlars. I am only a sophomore right now so I still have time. So my question is how will this effect my chances of going to a top college? Any tips on what I should do that will help me out making it easier for myself in the future? Thank you 😁

SAT subject test scores are canceled now and I couldn't take them even though I want to. Will that affect future applicants? For US applicants they're canceled but for international they're going on for a little longer.

... is it a bad thing that as a 7th grader im pushing for all advanced and am planning on going on all possible IB classes so i have a wide variety of colleges i want to go to, MIT being an option i want. Ive already thaught of what majors and minors i want, how much living costs would be (without a scholorship) and what basic requirments need to be met. I feel like its a good thing, but my friends are like "Bro chill the frick out" lol.

You don't have to specifically be a club leader (not everyone can be President, anyway), but you want to show them that you have leadership initiative in some way

Take a look at the requirements. I believe MIT requires 2+ years of a foreign language. Go confirm for yourself though!

How important do you feel the sat subject tests were? Mine are mediocre and unsure if I want to retake or not but my Sat 1 is great.
What did you get on them? If youre comfortable to share. Im taking Math 2 and Biology in October but im worried im gonna bomb them lol
Osiiris I got a 1570 on my Sat but a 770 on math 2 and physics 710. I self studied for half of physics so I'll note that but it's still bad I feel haha
Osiiris take as many practice tests as possible as regular and if you start early you should do fine :)

@@jbird631 im thinking the same thing. I remembered about taking subject tests far too late so I didn't have the chance to retake em. I also didn't study at all for them which I regret. I got a 790 on physics and 780 on maths 2.physics is fine but I'm worried about maths 2 since literally everyone gets an 800. I got too cocky and ran out of time.

I am a high school student from India and I study under the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). I am planning to apply to your Institute for my undergraduate. In the application process, GPA plays an important role. Can you please convert my Indian percentage into your GPA scale. My percentage is 85%.If you can't convert it accurately, just send me the approximate GPA. (Can you also convert 80)%)
i think 85% is about 3.5 and 80% is 3.0

Dude, don’t worry, the people replying to your comment are wrong because they are converting your percentage as if it is an American percentage. In your case you have a 4.0 GPA because it is harder to get a higher percentage in CBSE than in the US. Good luck!

EHclipse UT Austin is top 6%, most other state schools (ex. A&M) are 10%
