Last year I applied to MIT as an international (brazilian here) and, unfortunately, got a rejection. I didn't go to the schools that I got in here in Brazil (Unicamp and USP) because I wanted to try again. Wish me luck!

Fantastic video.. i feel like am so ready to start the application process and the fear about crafting the essay is really not there.
the convention of references, e.g. recommendation letters is the main obstacle for several students. The importance of recommendation letters is undeniable but sometimes the barriers for some one.

I wish I found this before I started writing my essays like a douche but I guess that I should start building myself up to try and transfer despite the terrifying odds (wow, that 6% for the fall and looking like it's dropping) hahahaha I sort of want to cry.
Focus on what she just said, your application essay is not going to make you break through- nothing can unless you have a bunch of Sthg that can make you a break through, Be yourself Show your voice , don't overthink and apply. If you get into MIT that's awesome for you if not it is not going to destroy your life. I am applying in the regular action. This video significantly changed my perspective for application essays. woo thanks!

My writing style is naturally a mix of sarcastic/poetic. So when I'm writing (especially) the essay on 'what do you do for fun?', I can't help but be poetic. Is that fine, or do we just give straightforward answers?
Considering the wordlimits its probably better to be straightforward.

Hi. So I wanted to ask about SAT scores. How important are they to your application? Because I'm not good at standardized testing no matter how hard I try. I'm a straight A student but not a good standardized tester. This is my top school choice so if SAT scores are really important for this school please tell me. I could use all of the help I could get.
I read a good sat score like 1500 plus will increase your chances by 10 percent of getting accepted to mit
I do have a question! For essays, how far back would be an appropriate timing? Say I had one essay that was mainly focused when I was 11 years-old, would that be too far back in the past even though the essay still answers the prompt and still impacts me?
I'd say if it still impacts you then by all means go for it! Just make sure you relate how those past events connect with your present self once you go over those experiences.
I know I'm like two years late but I wanted to know if my essay about something I had to overcome could be about my grades dropping a lot and how I got them back up as much as I could, and how I did better the following term? Or should I talk about other things than school in my essays? And why am I overthinking right now?

I wouldn't bother though make sure you get an 800 on the Math II 🤷
After a certain point, your scores just get you through the door. Your essays, personality, interview, activities, etc. Matter so much more than just numbers and test scores. You should still score as high as you can but don't stress out about it!
Not just spitting cliches. I got 710 physics and 770 on Math II and was Accepted Early Action for class of 2023.

I mean in your question, the "courses" is plural so I'd assume, yes.

The problem with this video is there is no sample set that has followed her advice and had a significantly higher chance of admissions. I don’t care if you think MIT being one of the best schools in the world for science and math is not the best reason for me wanting to attend. That IS the reason, so it isn’t really that simple is it? You are misleading your audience through this circular logic. Give specific examples of when you decided there was one particular personality that presented itself so often that it became over saturated for the community which lead to a reduced chance of acceptance. You are simply telling the audience to become vulnerable for the college instead of trying to fend for their best interests. Tell them the type of sample set of school you are looking for, if you don’t know, admit there is no standard and make this entire video with a disclaimer that this is entirely your opinion.
