Thanks bro. Sensor went out at night 500 miles from home. Dash had stabilitrack- traction control warnings. Reduced engine power so I took an exit, killed it a let it sit for a min. Restarted and was good enough to get down the road. Luckily right down the road from an advanced auto that had the part. She was kicking like a bull lol. Peoria, IL 17 degrees, windy and in the dark. Got it replaced in half an hour thanks to you.

Great video, my 03 avalanche would overwork the hell out of the engine going from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd, the change was beyond noticeable after replacing the TPS, Smooth as butter!!! When taking off Factory air box, remember to take off vacuum line on passenger side of air box.
Also DON’T FORGET TO DISCONNECT NEG CABLE ON BATTERY, in case it messes up idle upon start up.
Don’t hit clips with hammer to put on, use the side of a big screwdriver to push them on.

Thanks for the video, brother. 12/1/2024, I began an 8 hr trip to return to my home, and 1.5 hrs in, my 2010 Tahoe went into limp mode (not a cool experience let me tell you), and the service lights for the engine and traction control went off. I managed to get off the freeway, and there happened to be an O’Reilly’s. Engine was idling super rough. Got it scanned, and it threw a P2135 code. Found this video, and hoped I’d identified my problem. I ended up replacing the whole throttle body assembly just to be sure. All the codes went away, and I was able to get home, but engine was idling fast, even though I did the 3 min idle, 1 min off, 3 min idle relearn cycle after the new body was in. I took it to my local auto repair the next day, and they said the relearn cycle really only works in tandem with the scanner. They were able to get it all calibrated for me. Hope this helps somebody out there!

You don't need to disconnect the battery because you are unplugging the Throttle body actuator before taking it off. And you should have just removed the whole throttle body to do the job it's way easier. Plus while it's off you can clean it at the back.

Question: Are you certain the trottle body spring loaded butterfly plate is to "pushed and held in"...while deciding where to manually turn the TPS gear slot to "line it up"? Wouldn't it be more appropriate to allow the spring loaded trottle body butterfly valve plate to rest in an "as is" position,....while lining up the trottle position sensor slot with a flat head screw driver? Otherwise, the new sensor POSITION will be slightly off, as when the plate is let go, the spring will move the plate the rod back to their relaxed position, ...also moving the TPS slot as well. This makes the TPS slot in and other than neutral position when the vehicle is started cold. Make sense?

So basically you drive a vehicle and you're at a stop light. The vehicle will sometimes not accelerate anymore. That's what a faulty tps sensor does. You go into limp mode. You will have a check engine light and you cannot accelerate.

I have an appointment with a mechanic who has a programmer since the truck does not want to re-learn the idle on its own. I have now driven over 100 miles and the symptoms are no better.
