@@andrewt836 I think that was a reference to the Asda substitute. 5% pears, the rest of it aspartame, stabilisers and water straight from the place where they separate it from from raw sewage. Just a pear cider made from pears at some stage in a cack-handed, slovenly process. Not even a pretence of any guarantee of purity.
I read Franks book on a beach on a Greek island , and instantly wanted to be a stand-up comedian , it was that funny, i didn't i became a plumber cos i found out i am crap at telling jokes but without Franks book i wouldn't have known, so it just go's to show.
Good it's not funny if you get a burst water pipe.
Frank Skinner was the first stand-up I ever saw live. 1993, Norwich Arts Centre. Genius.
Same here, I think it was 1991. He was on for over an hour and a half and was absolutely brilliant, one of my favourite comedians.

My mate thought it would be funny to get front row tickets at Preston guild, I'm guessing late 80's. Mistake, Frank's opening line "Youth club shut tonight lads"? he took the piss out of us all night.
Love Frank Skinner . He's great in everything he does . As a Catholic meself I like the way he says he's a Catholic in a world where it's not fashionable to talk about faith . He's the real deal. Stewart is a class act as well. Comedy at premiership level

Did a gig with Frank in the early nineties and you could tell he was destined to be great. His act was about 30 minutes. He did 10 minutes of "material' then the next 20 minutes ripping into the audience, he was so fucking funny.

Stewart Lee is right about Frank Skinner being a great stand up. As for Stewart Lee himself he's a bit too clever for me to find genuinely funny though he does have his comedic moments.
Agree 100%, have seen Frank a few times, especially small venues, the last one was the crypt in Holborn, he’s a genuine bloke next door, naturally funny, don’t get any political bs vibes off him either, as for Lee, just not funny, imo, when I say that, I get vitriol from his fanboys,😂 it’s a personal opinion 😅

I'm thick as mince and I find Stewart Lee one of the best stand ups going. I don't think you have to be clever to enjoy Lee, no more than any comic.
It depends what you’re after - I love the Ramones for being dumb poppy 2min blaster songs - but equally love Faust who often made suites of avant garde music… both are genius to me and equals

I liked Dave Allen. Much overlooked these days, in fact ignored and somewhat persecuted by definition by modern comedians by being ignored by accident of chair. Comfortable looking chair at that. Never mentioned due to being a "sit down. Yes cast aside by not being recognised for being quite as erect as many lesser men of the stage. Luckily for him, his career was save by avoiding an easy chair. At least the chair he chose was quite upright. They sneeringly give him that in their absent derision. I'm not sure Mr Lee could hold the attention of an expectant audience from a sitting position. 🤔 💺 think about it.
Of all the comedians with part of a finger missing Dave Allen was defiantly the best.

Frank skinner and Lee mack are the funniest comedians I've seen , neither needed to go woke to survive as their humour was never political or offensive anyway , their humour is to take observations and just exaggerate them just enough to get maximum laughs, Frank could get a bit "blue" 🤣 but it was hilarious
Stuart Lee is political but in a none forced way , he uses a lot of older politics as well , so he has never had to change his humour
Most of the other Russell Howard Comedians you get these days "to paraphrase Stewart lee" had to become sickly woke to survive , the blandness that is modern comedy meant it naturally went woke anyway and he knows it would get him work ,every Comedian on mock the week sold their souls to the god if woke to get work , even though the laughs had all but dried up for them.
Frankie Boyle being the worst on the list, going from outrageously funny to just arse licking wokeness to keep his accountant off his back , he went woke to not go broke but essentially ruined his career
Whereas, Frank skinner , Lee mack and Stuart Lee can just get on with life knowing they could do a tour and not really have to change a lot in their style, and not have to bow to the woke gods
