I was actually at a place where the toilet was plugged into the hot water line by the diverter!! Talk about a steamer!!! Kinda nice on cold winter days though....
Well, when you went outside to water your garden, I stuck a knife through the plunger. Then I did a really good job so you would call me back. But I did really never touch your toilet, but all get it fixed cheap for ya ;)
I'm a plumber in Wichita ks. I appreciate these videos so much. It's a completely different animal here and I've learned a substantial amount about the actual plumbing you guys do.
I love shut offs I put them all over the place. I can shut off in the living space, or I can go underneath the living space and shut it off to a specific area or I can shut off whole areas including the whole house or the whole property.
Unrelated, but my car was recently in for a service and had a new tyre put on. Within 5 minutes of me leaving, the under inflation light came on the dash. Those dumbasses didn't register the pressure in the system, so it was down to me to make sure all my tyres had the same PSI and register it on my system 🤦🏻♂️.
I’ve learned in multi family buildings that there will always be sediment knocked loose when there’s a water shut down. You can shoot some compressed air through the cartridge to remove the blockage.
Factory new or replacement cartridges don't come with enough silcone 😊lube. Use extra lube when replacing and the cartridge will last much longer, years longer and still buttery smooth.
Commercial transactions in NYC are a continual stream of both parties assuming the other is attempting to screw them. At least they're on the same page...
Hvac tech here. "What did you do to it", "the thing YOU fix is broken", etc. are what they always say to try to make sure they can get you to fix whatever it is for free.
Hey man just heads up you should always clean the inside of the R-10000 rough in. They develop mineral deposits around where the o-rings seal. It only takes a few minutes and will extend the life of your new cartridge.
Broski oh, I'm a high-end Carpenter! On the mainline area! I'm loving these videos Man!! You do beautiful and wonderful work man! Keep making these videos continue to leave your blueprint
I was just here to get a quick answer for whether I need to shut off water before I replace my stem valve cartridge... I wish all repair videos were this hilarious. 🤣
At least that ring came off. I had to carefully cut mine off w a dremel. Cranking that ring with channel locks is a good way to twist pipes badly! Nice videos you do by the way 👍
That always happens when you do work at a customers place. You fix/replace something. Some time passes by and you get a frustrated call about "what did you do, this isnt working" and its not relateable to what you're previous visit was about.
NYC uses more valves than any other city on the planet. Valves going to valves going to regulators to valves. I know what's wrong with it. Ain't got enough valves in it.
Good thing it was DELTA! Yes having shut offs in unit is "HUGE" VS stack! Delta is 100% lifetime replacement. I'm sure you already know that BROSKI!KOKOA
Delta isn't the quality it used to be. But their consumer-grade stuff comes with a lifetime warranty, so when the plastic "fake metal" parts or the cartridges leak, they'll send you a new one for free.
Sounds like tenant's slammed the valve open or shut possibly in aggravation or just trying to force hotter water not knowing there is a physical adjustable stop to prevent scolding
I just had this with an up pump shit grinder. It was a previously used unit that had to be removed to sell the house. My gig was to re install it after the house was bought. I suggested putting a new pump in because we didn't know how old the old pump was. They didn't want to spend the extra $300 and insisted I use what they had. Put it all back in early June, tested and double tested, got approval from the HO, I even called early August to make sure everything was working properly, made an appointment to take a quick look under warranty, she cancelled the day of insisting it was fine. Don't you know the pump randomly failed yesterday, September 6th , she said it caused $12 damage......in a half bath in an unfinished basement? Yeah I knew she was lying from that statement alone. I reminding her I sug replacing the pump, her canceling the later visit to trip check. She didn't have anything to say and disappeared.
We’ve all done that. Welcome to the club. And we’ve all forgot at times to reopen the water valve before we leave off the job to only get a call saying they have no hot water or cold or none at all 🤦🏽♂️
I am blown away at the lack of isolation valves installed in the buildings original design in new york building construction. To me it seems that every single apartment should have its own isolation valve from the main building as well as boilers and Main infrastructure that use water each system should have its own individual bypass isolation valve built into it.
Had a similar problem at a residential house in California, come to find out the water wasn’t running because the homeowners mother turned off the water at the main and didn’t want to let anyone know 🤦♂️ we had the city workers come out and everything
That is a Delta 1700 cartridge. It doesn't not just move off-center. It was more than likely the pressure balance Mechanism was locked up. Or the temperature stop was never adjusted properly And she blaimed you for trying to get a freebie. Either way, Broski, great job fixed the problem.
“What did you do to my computer?!” “Ma’am, we just met.” “Well, it was working just fine until you guys did something to it!” “Ma’am, I checked and your machine has no issues listed.” “It was the last time you guys worked on it. I was still in Dubai.”
I do residential hvac, literally cannot even describe how many times I show up for a simple maintenance, and the next day something completely unrelated or unexpected happens. Makes me look like a scam artist 😅 we call it disturbing the dirt 😂
This kind of construction is wired to see as a German plumber. I would never install a shower tap on a paper wall. It’s looking so dangerously loose when he tighten it. Anyways love your videos and seeing plumbing from the states. Germany is technically and construction wise a bit more advanced and robust.

Everyone from mechanics to plumbers are getting shit quality parts nowadays. We do good work but our customers and our reputations suffer from lack of quality control.
Every time I have to replace one of these type cartridges, I have to completely remove the set screw and the plastic temp adjustment part from the cartridges, because there’s no way to get it to go full hot-with the screw in place. The handle will only go from cold to warm straight up, There’s not enough adjustment. Have you ever noticed this?
I also like to leave self destruct cartridges in. You know. Just in case they don't pay 😂😂😂
