No matter what is going on, how hard life is, what experience you're going through: there is music to match it, music to get you through it, music to get you over it. @@SkyDog59 Yes, it got to #13 on the chart. Hence why I said "very close." If course it's subjective but at what number could we consider that song not a sufficient enough hit to keep the OHW status. I put it at 25. If they have no other hit higher than 25, they're a OHW in my book. So gray was close, imo.

Dobie was the man. Great track! That awesome guitar riff was played by the great session player Reggie Young Jr. Sadly, Dobie Gray passed in 2011.

This was a huge hit in my youth. It has always astonished me that we didn't get a never ending bevy if magic from such a voice. But no one ever said that life will always make sense. So, when the gold does show itself then just sit back and enjoy when it's staring you right in the face. Like it is here.

Love this song. Dobie also released a song during the 70s called Out On The Floor which is Northern Soul anthem.

Amazing, amazing song. I’ve loved it since I was like 4 years old. Dobie Gray is a soul legend. I remain disappointed at the lack of his albums on Spotify

Discovered this song 5 years after release, 12 years old, first set of big can headphones, stole this from my older sister's room, vinyl on repeat for hours. Still love this song ❤

This was the song that got me interested in music when I was a wee little pup. Just wait for the bridge of the song where he really cuts loose with the soul. It's chilling.
