Have this one coming for Christmas as a gift. You had me going there for a while...Nicely done. So happy to hear its a good game. Thanks for the great video review!
That punchline at the end...you, sir have impeccable comic timing!!! I kind of agree with you on the combat system, but I really don't mind casting the "Battle POGs"...the clever thing here is that you get one for each weapon you acquire! And at the start, the enemies usually have more POGs than you do...
How big of a factor is the randomness? I get that it's not going to be a chess-like competitive game but is it less random than Arkham Horror? I've heard that that game more or less runs on auto-pilot.
+Vondur I would say yes it is less random than Arkham Horror, but not much so. I didn't mind the randomness myself, but I know some people have a really hard time with it.
I have not played 3rd only 2nd Ed. The 2nd Ed is a long game, but playing solitaire I do away with dice movement (The dice a nicer though) altogether to speed up the game. The one thing that bothers me in 3rd Ed is the combat. Give me the dice. What is the time frame for a game of 3rd Ed?
Plenty of online stores like Amazon have them, or Cool Stuff Inc. Most big cities have a few hobby games stores and many of them have games you can try out there in the store to see if it's right for you.
I was sure because the box is right behind you :) (otherwise Runewars is a very good game) I have to say thank you for clash of culture. With the expansion it will probably be my game of the year. I have so many good hours of play because of you, thank you :)
+Ngama Shaka You are welcome, sir. Glad I could help. I still haven't played Clash of Cultures with the expansion, and I hear it really adds to it quite a bit. That's one I wanna pick up. As far as Runewars goes, there are a lot of games that I own that I haven't played yet. Check it out: th-cam.com/video/Xes1RCV7jA8/w-d-xo.html
Now I remember. I forgot it was on your list. To thank you for all you good propositions, let me give you a few opinions about the few games that I know about, maybe you will be more interested to play some: Descent 2 : Since you like a lot Imperial Assault ( and now Runebound) chances you will like this one too. You won't have too much rules to read for sure, they are about the same. I would recommend you try Descent with one of their coop module. I have played the 3 of them and they are all good. They let you level up you character in a few hours of play. It is very satisfying, also some people prefer that as it is not confrontational.
Runewars. If you like Twillight Imperium, it is in the same line but in a Fantasy/Runebound and Descent setting. It is limited to 4 players. The races are very different and the game do not last too long as for TI. This was my best game before Clash of Cultures. They added the heroes that do about the same thing they do in Runebound, the problem that I see is it is a strange mix where you stop the game to do a few minutes of another game in the middle. My sons and friends do not agree with me about this point and love the addition. I recommend the expansion if you play more then a few games as it gives a lot more diversity between the factions. It is not as important as the one for Clash of Culture. Talking about this expansion, if I still need to convince you, I give you a link to a game they Played on Forum (POF) on BGG. It should give you a better idea of the new possibilities it brings : www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/1259128/pbf-7-cradles-civilization/page/1 Again, thanks a lot for you videos and wish you and your friends a merry Christmas and an happy new year :)
I really like the theme and adventure in this game but the token combat really loses me. I always feel like the combat loses a lot of the excitement because flipping the tokens just doesn't feel satisfying for me.
I'm hoping i get this for X-mass from my wife :D I asked this one or Fury of dracula :) If the feeling is like Eldritch Horror my wife and daughter will enjoy it aswel. Oh and when was Holly gonne replace you ;) J/K keep up the good work Cody :D
+smolle Holly's got some more reviews coming down the pipe. Both Fury of Dracula and Runebound are awesome, but I gotta tell you- it its one or the other- go with Drac!
+The Discriminating Gamer I got runebound and Fury of dracula for x-mass . We played runebound and fury of dracula already. They liked playing Runebound and you are right about fury of dracula aswel as alot of fun playing it :D
lol my feelings towards this game are opposite to yours. Like Holly, I could not engage with the theme and narrative. Meh. The only thing I did like was the combat system and the ability to progress by purchasing new tokens.

+Black Belt Gaming Thank you, sir!
Great review. Concise and to the point. And this cliffhanger - you got me there!
Thank you, sir.
10:10 *holds breath in fear
10:19 *exhales relieved
Ha!

Indeed. Call me crazy, I'm a sucker for dice.
Very nice review. Now I'm interested to try this one!
+Vondur I think you'll get a kick out of it if you're anything like me!

You had me going there. I thought you were going to say you hated it.
Thanks for the review, have you ever played "world of warcraft the board game?"
I have not. I heard it was good.

+Douglas Pearson Depends on players. I'd say on average 2-3 hour game.
I see this as a more interesting Talisman style game. It seems to give you more options in general and more variation to boot...
Interesting way of looking at it. Thanks.
Awesome review!!! I really think this is a 2 person game, maybe 3 but not 4.
Agreed
Nailed IT!!!! :D :D
Danke!
where do you buy games like this.

What game (core) is better in your opinion? without the expansions of the second edition..
I'm afraid I don't understand the question.
which prefer, runebound 2 or 3.
I've only played this latest iteration.
Thank you for the good review ( as usual)
Tell me, it looks a lot like the Rune wars heroes part.. Is it better ? ( I've found it tedious to be frank)
I actually haven't played Runewars yet, so I can't comment on that.
I was sure because the box is right behind you :) (otherwise Runewars is a very good game)

+Ngama Shaka Thank you, sir. I've wanted to get Runewars to the table for a long time, as TI3 is my favorite game of all time.
Cool review! What's your opinion on downtime in a 3 or 4 player game?
Cool comment! Downtime with four players can be an issue, especially if some players suffer from analysis paralysis.
I really liked it! (sorry my hat was awful)
+aaronraw No, Aaron... Your hat was just like you, miraculous!
question is...how can I turn this into a drinking game?
+Thermalburn Silly! You can't drink cardboard!
I really like the theme and adventure in this game but the token combat really loses me. I always feel like the combat loses a lot of the excitement because flipping the tokens just doesn't feel satisfying for me.
+Ogreman222 I didn't have that big of a problem with it, but still I would have preferred something else as well.

What a horrible world it would be if we all agreed on everything.
Classic mid-review turn around :DD
Ha! Gotta keep you on your toes.
You had me going there. I thought you were going to say you hated it.
+Eric Calabrese That's what I was counting on, Eric!
