CHERCOM AK / VZ58 chest rig

- Chercom, or by full "Chernarus communist" rig is a handmade chest rig, usually made in Chernarussian Jerinstan region.
Mostly made to fit eastern bloc standart capacity magazines, such as older AK variants and VZ58, but can fit modern 5.56 magazines aswell ( Or 2 striaght SMG magazines in each pouch).
This style of chestrig can be mostly seen with people from Chernorussia and Ukrainian radioactive forbidden "Zone", where it is produced locally by bandits and other misfits that don't have access to the market.
The rig, albeit looking very outdated, is in fact one big molle platform with all of it's pouches added separately. This design is easier to produce for inexperienced dressmakers, and allows for easier repairs or change of rifle carried (replacing AK pouches with SVD pouches, and similar).

And about the "impression"... It's literally my daily clothes plus the rig, lol. I live in ex eastern bloc country, so for you it migh look strange but generally this is how we dress at villages / city outskirts

Man ! I don't know how to respond to this, as i said in the video it was my first thing to do on a sewing machine, besides about 4 pouches i did prior to it to learn how the machine works (you dont want to see THOSE).
I am already trying to improve myself, this piece had many mistakes on it. About the selling part : I migh, one day, make one to sell. But with this one - it's my ride and die chest rig. I feel emotionally attached to it, after it went thru some sh*t with me. I can never sell it.

I have pattern 83 rigs from Kommando Store. They used them in Rhodesia in the 1970's. Its similar to chicom but uses velcro instead of buckles.

I used straps i found on a scrapyard and hand-made furniture from bent metal wire when making my first stuff.
Now i order all of my stuff tho.

@@foreststalkerbrothersit's a big step-up from crafting pouches for sure, make sure u use mock-up/sacrificial fabrics first as test.... mine takes several attempts to make it just right... Not too loose, and covered the surface of armor plate perfectly

I subscribed your channel some time ago and i like your content keep going, i bought the vz58 bayonet from my local war flea market and when i was looking the background of the bayonet i came across the video you made about it. It would be cool to see tutorial for some shit like this, can you make collection tour of your militaria and self made invetions etc??
deffinetly planning on being more active when it comes to surplus. And very happy to hear i could help with info ! About the tutorial part - Yes, i suppose i could try it in the future, but i remember making this one - basically coming up with "how the F do i do that ?" on the go. About any "tour" - sadly over the years i sold most of my stuff. Collection became more into hoarding and i realized i had too many items.

Made a similiar thing like that. I made it from ikea bags. I can share pictures if people want. I shaped mine to hold stanag mags.

@@rezkali01 thought about that. But my methods are not that presentable, and are very crude. Plus, making rig like this takes an entire day for me, and i dont feel like doing it again soon

Do you happen to have scaled PDFs of any patterns you used to make this, or otherwise the dimensions of the material you cut for the vest + pouches?

First off, i dont have ANY measures written down for this.
I remember making this thing "by memory" - looking at my phone how chicom looks.
When it comes to pouches, i made a paper sheet with details, and... I lost it somewhere. I'm still looking for it, migh make new one. Thinking about making a pouch tutorial in a month, so that's that.

@@foreststalkerbrothers Got it, no problem! It’ll be fun to come up with a design myself. And I’m certainly not discouraged, I used the leftover fabric from the chest rig and followed your video to make my own meshok, which I think turned out pretty great. Thank you!
Edit: I also used a commenters suggestion and put marbles in the corners to tie the paracord instead of sewing it, and it does work very well!
