Bought my M1 Garand 2 years ago for 665 for a field grade. Still shoots like a dream. Just got my M1911a1 Service grade which is absolutely gorgeous and shoots good as gold. Thanks to the CMP for allowing me (a millenial who grew up playing Medal of Honor and COD) to obtain my dream guns. Also had my 1897 Winchester refurbished into trenchgun by Bull Creek Arms and I love it so much. Never in my life would I expect to own my dreamguns.
Twenty years ago, the CMP wanted to get out of the gun business and focus on their actual mission, marksmanship. That's why they opened the flood gates. Get rid of the inventory. Then, more M1s become available. Maybe the new limits are a hint they're down to 10 years of inventory.
@@donwyoming1936 Dan i think there are 1000's of rifle out there just waiting to come back here.. i say never ending supply. I wish the CMP would get the M1 carbines back from south Korea 60.000 there. I subed ya too.

😂 sorry I got too excited and just had to share. I don’t know if I can buy another one in 2023. I put an order in back in late 2022 and paid for it in 2023 so I have to call them and ask.
@@BattlefieldCurator Yes you can order one. I sent my packet in on the 1st. I called there for a few questions on my form . there so nice there and a second 1911 would be nice for sure. Now its wait and see if my luck holds. THX DAN
Wow I don’t think they would make enough in profits and on top of that they’d have a ton of rifles and parts taking up warehouse space. But on the flip side it would drown out all the flippers and bring attention to them. Maybe limit it one or two rifles per year.
Think I'll pass on the CMP M1911s. Got a safe full of CMP M1903s, M1903A3s, M1917s, M1 Garands & M1 Carbines. My plan is to spread them around as heirlooms for my kids, nieces & nephews.

Awesome! The CMP is great 👍
Not gonna lie, its a little late but I'm glad they're starting to clamp down on the scalping. It's gotten to be a massive problem in the community.
True
Hey Dan-uu1ox what do you mean SCALPING ? THANKS

Sent in a packet for a second 1911 today. Hoping for either rack or range grade this time.
Good luck!
Did you get service grade last time?
Glad to see the field grades back. My favorite balance. Still need to pick up a 1911 though. Thanks for the updates!
Right on 😁🍻
I got a Colt frame with Colt slide 1911a1 in round 1 from the CMP and I just sent in my packet to the CMP for a second 1911.
Awesome! Good luck!
Hi, Dan! Do you think you'll ever do a video discussing your time in the US Army?
Maybe sometime down the road or if someone asks during a podcast/ interview
I hope to get another Service Grade.
I might go for a lower grade this time
@BattlefieldCurator I was thinking the same. I've read that the Field Grade may not have been rebuilt.
Hope to get a CMP 1911 someday.
Could you do a video on the process of purchasing online? There is no good video or info on this topic thanks

Hey Dan don't tell every one about the second 1911 my odds just went down by 1000 of getting one. 😁

It should be 1 garand per lifetime

@@BattlefieldCurator the focus needs to be conservation of history rather than profits and scalping.
@@m1994a3jagnew CMP needs to make money to find their programs.
I see dealers buying these up and telling BS storys to sell them.
Oh jeez… anytime I hear a story from a shop owner or at a gunshow, first thing that comes to mind is “salesman tactic”
It’s 2024 and there is nothing special about the 30 and 50 year old guns. There are way better and lighter options out here.
It’s not really about practicality, it’s more about owning a historically significant weapon.

Good plan. I would do the same, as long as they would be willing to curate and cherish them for a good amount of time
