  • We wanted to share the first part of our incredible journey leading up to 2021 and the dedicated team determined to make it a success
    Since starting out in 1989, we have proudly become world leaders when it comes to engineering bicycle components, something we have done purely to help us ride our bikes more! We manufacture almost every part for a bicycle including hubs, brakes, headset, stems, bottom brackets and lights - all from our home in Barnoldswick, Lancashire. Manufacturing all products on-site gives us total control on quality and delivery schedules and was one of the reasons which led ‪@britishcycling‬ to say it was a 'no brainer to partner with us for this project, even it would become be our very first road bike!
    This video shows never before seen footage of our committed team making history by creating one of the fastest bikes ever made and finding an innovative way to progress the design of track wheels. Plus, hear from ‪@britishcycling‬ on how a cup of coffee turned into a manufacturing first.
    We wanted to share just how labour intensive but also how satisfying creating the HB.T has been, revealing the whole process from creating the mould to perfecting the layer of lacquer! We are proud to say all elements of the HB.T are sourced, made and constructed under one roof here in the UK. We show off our experts who give an insight into their day to day activities working side by side to create a truly artisan product.
    We also proudly show off our unique carbon track wheels which use an extremely fine-tuned monocoque structure and weigh less than 700g! You can even catch a glimpse of some of the first rides by the Olympic development squad - achieving PBs from day one!
    ABOUT Hope Technology
    -----------------------------------------

    Over 30 years Hope Technology has become world-renowned through the unerring quality and unmatched longevity of its products. This success has been built on an unwavering devotion to innovation in design; precision in engineering; dedication to quality control and commitment service and support.
    The 150-plus Lancashire-based Hope Technology staff only make products that they’d be 100% happy to ride themselves. With the team operating 70 CNC machines, 24-7, and hand-assembling all products, there is complete control over quality and scheduling. Even the video production has been produced to the highest quality, beautifully shot with no crazy sound level changes. As for the manufacturing, I wouldn't expect anything less from the Rolls Royce of bikes. I have to admit, I had many moments with goosebumps watching this.

      I hate crushing analogies, but I reckon that Hope would be in a class above Rolls Royce, who use German engines and parts from BMW. AFAIK all of Hope's stuff is made in house, and is also bulletproof, much unlike most British car manufacturers.

      Wrote a similar comment myself. Thing is - this level of detail is what the big manufacturers should be striving towards too - but they cut corners. It's not a beautiful looking bike but just watching that rear end being assembled and seeing everything drop in so smoothly was orgasmic.

    • @j.joseph5353
      @j.joseph5353 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      What a strange comment. How would this video make you disappointed in your country? US industrial production has been on an upward trend for many, many years. While it is true that jobs have been declining, output has been increasing. It's called efficiency. If you'd like to see what the opposite of that looks like, take a trip to China. You'll find 25 people are required to do the work of 5. Would turning the clock back on decades upon decades of advances in manufacturing make you proud of your country? SMH.
      Your country likely has far more reason to be disappointed in you than you do of it.

    This bike and edit are amazing, but something that caught my eye was at 14:57 the wheel doesn't seem to be spinning in a perfect circle--the gap between the tire and frame clearly changes as the wheel spins. Anyone know why? Is this common?

    • @rapamune
      @rapamune 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Probably not intended if the wheel is free spinning, but with weight there may be flex involved

    • @dominicspencer1496
      @dominicspencer1496 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      funhouse tubular tyres are never perfectly round, it’s much more likely to be a lump in the tyre than flex in the frame or fork

    • @edam9461
      @edam9461 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe that isn't the hope wheel as it's a tri or quad spoke. I think they only produced full disks for the project, and as Dominic said tubular tires are not perfect.

    Any composite nerds out there that can tell me what the benifit of sandwiching kevlar between 2 layers of carbon is? I would have thought the carbon would be so stiff each side that the kevlar would never really see any load?
    I used to use carbon kevar a bunch, it definatly takes a hit well, but I just never understand how the carbon dosnt crack before the kevlar has a chance to do it's job?
