My Corima Aero 47+ wheel set is only six years old, but quite keen to know where wheels come from. I knew the day would come when I'd have to have "the talk"; I just didn't think it would come so soon. They grow up so fast. Thanks for showing this, GCN.
Wheels aside (which are admittedly top of the notch), what makes CORIMA stand out is the DNA of the company. it is a small operation, very human, they love what they do and OK let's admit it is not a mass production outfit. I recently turned to CORIMA for a technical issue with my wheels which needed a conversion, Cathy engaged personally, everything was sorted out so efficiently and always with a personal touch. With the serial Nr. of the wheels, they gave me the impression that they knew even what colour shirt the employee who made them wore that day. It felt as if I was making my clothes with a tailor. How much does that cost? You get what you pay for and if you ever lay a hand on these wheels, you know why they cost what they cost. Also happy to see small operations surviving in a brutal market by being so different and looking actively to innovate. Cannot but recommend so highly of CORIMA
I'm lucky to own some Corima products, quality and finish are The best. My Puma has the smoothest ride I have experienced. Such a shame they ceased frame production but one can hope and dream!
John Cannings did a tour of Wilier a little while back, although their carbon stuff is not actually made there, only assembled. They still make the steel frames in Italy though.
I visited an old Corima factory which is located in the middle of nowhere in Madagascar a few years ago. The guy is not producing wheels and frames anymore but has his own little "museum" just like in the video, it was incredible! Came out of there with rebranded Corima aero wheels which are still going strong, best pair I've ever owned.
Very cool. It's good to watch this video before finding out how much these wheels cost. Still... $4000 US for the MCC DX wheels is on the eye-watering side. But if you want to show the bling - they do stand out. Personally, I like my bikes heavy - so I have an excuse for how slow I am.
Great factory tour and overview about the production and quality process! Actually I'm quite intrigued by the MCC wheels (disc brake version) - I think they are quite unique on the market (there are more brands offerings rim brake-only wheels with a low number of spokes.
Saw you're comment near the top and thought "yea right as if anyone would do that"....two comments later I see the comment from the guy with neanderthal level sense of humor
@@markj.a351 I had exactly the same thought when I read his comment. I guess we still have to much faith in humanity mate. Honestly I struggle to see what they're trying to say, it's plenty clear and I'll be amazed if those making such comments can even speak English as well as they do in this video let alone speak French. I really hope they don't go to Glasgow, where the English native speaking people are even harder to understand due to their accent and the speed they talk. A comment like theirs is especially dumb when you consider just how many different accents English is spoken with in the native speaking countries and England alone.
Actually accents are really cool. If u want to sound like gangsta do russian or Columbian accent. Want to sound flamboyant do Aussie want to sound smart do Indian. Wanna sound romantic do french.
Florian and the Corima team really did a good job in trying to explain things in English, kudos! Now am wondering if there will be any plans for GCN in Chinese 🤣
It's interesting that the mounts that hold on to the wheels while the technicians work (9:00), are blurred out. Who would have thought something as simple as a mount can be a trade secret! :)
Florian le p'tit frenchy qui parle en anglais c'est boooowwww😂the exact same video is on gcn en français if you want to watch the original version and improve your french level👌
Not the best rim brake feel becouse of non-machined brake track but 32 S+ still my favourite wheelset which I have own. Look of this handicraft of carbon for rims and hubs is really beautiful and can't see same kind of details on mass produced wheels. Fits very well with Time frame.
Wonder what was being blurred out around 8:45. Was it some new top secret design, or did somebody just get their wheels custom ordered to have swear words printed on them?
Should really be wearing gloves when working with prePreg carbon, long term exposure will lead to skin sensitisation, that aside , excellent work from the presenter.
OK, but this wheels they are made from pearls?. they cost that much, even more then a road bike with medium specs. I know that is not easy to make them , but some prices are INSANE.
This bike was really easy to assemble th-cam.com/users/postUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA and required very few adjustments out of the box. The wheels did not require any truing/adjustments. The frame had some small scratches, but nothing major.I did replace the seat though - the seat it came with was very uncomfortable. The tires need to be re-inflated every 4-5 days, but this appears to be quite common for the narrow 700x25 tires.Overall, in my opinion, this bike looks and rides like a much more expensive bike.
I keep looking at Corima and love the products, but: 1: They need a matching MCC front wheel. The rear looks great, but the front looks too different. 2: Tubeless. Where is it? I'm not going to buy a non-tubeless wheel.
not to poop on the parade here, but I think this should have been done in french and subtitled. the dialogues would have been more organic and less chopped up.. great job though, but why not let the english speaking world struggle a bit?
Why not take some french lessons and watch the original video, given that they are talking about french product, developed and made in a french factory in France. Was any of it impossible to understand? Have you tried learning a second language? Perhaps you should and until then, keep your opinions to yourself.
@@mattelliottmusic French is hard to learn, but remember there are also plenty of people who speak English not as their native language, and also had to learn it. With an English video you get way more people to watch it, because it's one of the most common languages on earth

It’s always interesting to see how much effort goes into crafting these wheels. Good Stuff.

Have a pair of Corima WS 58 and the quality is outstanding
Excellent coverage 👏One question did he get out the factory with all those wheels? 😉🤣🤣
Is it possible to make a bike using kevlar@😅
Well done to GCN and Corima for speaking in English the whole tour. Respect!
english good enough to not require subtitles is pretty damn good in my book, props
...Better than my French....
Ive always been of the opinion that you should never criticize someones accent if you dont speak THEIR language.
Love the factory tours, especially when it’s Look or Time.
Or Corima
Now we need Dan or Si doing a show in French well done GCN France 😁
We really don't 😂
Be careful what you wish for
@@davidharrington6273 I think I would not stop laughing

The English spoken in this video by everyone interviewed is of such a high standard. Merci beaucoup 🙏
Great work on the tour & presentation.

the puma is literally the best bike i have ridden to this day.. that and some of the early 2000's alu de rosas were just amazing to ride.
That was great to see how it is done. Any chance of a tour of the Campagnolo Factory and Bianchi, Willier factories?

Can’t wait to ride them

It's fantastic to see, but very fascinating to find out, that the company will also design the machines that build the wheels too.
What a beatiful factory and great wheels.

Been riding all my life and believe it or not, I always thought the carbon wheels were hallowed! LOL 😂 you learn something new every day
Most are. Corima is unique in it's usage of foam core.
Fascinating! Many thanks
I borrowed a set of corima disc wheels when I tried for the hour. Very nice wheels

Classic example of the UCI stifling innovation, company stopped even trying 😆
Yes, UCI sucks arse.
