  • @CarminesRCTipsandTricks
    @CarminesRCTipsandTricks 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Rich, I've been enjoying your Videos for several years now.... I finally have my FIRST question.
    I've been in the Hobby since 1985 (YES, I'm Old!!). However, this is my very FIRST Brushless System, Ever! I have been reading up on it for at least 5 years, seen LOTS of Videos, and asked questions. According to MOST of the Comments I've been reading lately, it seems like at least 98% of the Hobby is about Extreme Overkill !!! 😱😱 It's cool, just not what my 54 year old butt wants anymore. 😉
    I just got a setup, that may seem tame to some..... But I really have NO Budget!
    I just got a Hobbywing WP10BL60 Sensorless ESC, and a TenShock Sensorless 3660, 1750kv, 6 Pole 9 Slot Motor. It's going in a fairly Low Geared Axial Wraith..... Is the 60 Amp ESC going to be adequate for my Wraith, used as a Trail Rig with some Crawling, only momentary bursts of speed - with the 1750kv Motor??
    I'm a Disabled Veteran, with very little money, this is the best I can do. However, that 6 Pole TenShock Sensorless Brushless Motor is shockingly smooth! NO noticeable Cogging, SLOW starts!! She's not quite "finished" yet. I'm just crawling around the Apartment with a Battery taped to the Roof!! 😱😜
    I'll add, because I am old school, just getting back into the Hobby after an 18 year Hiatus - I STILL run NiMhs!! 😱 7.2 or 8.4 volts only..... That's as much info as I can think of. Will 60A be good?
    Thanks! Carmine 🚂

    • @TheRCNetwork
      @TheRCNetwork  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey PMRC! Always good to see comments from long time viewers! You should be okay on that voltage - watch the temps on your ESC and be careful with your gearing. The 1750kv motor would come alive on either 3s or 4s Lipo power though....but you will need a new ESC to run that voltage.

    • @CarminesRCTipsandTricks
      @CarminesRCTipsandTricks 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As far as Batteries, Lipos are *dangerous* .... no matter how popular they are.
      I'm waiting until I can afford Graphene or LiFe Batteries. Then yes, I suppose I'll have to move up to a 100-150A ESC.
      Thank you for your reassurance!

    Rich, would you suggest this for a 2WD Traxxas Slash basher/beater truck? I'm not looking to win any races, but the Titan 12T 550 motor gave it up a few weeks ago and I'm looking to go brushless. This jumped out at me because it's an inexpensive, fully sensored system. I'd be running 2s.

      Thanks for watching, Gus! Being that the VXL motor is sensorless, I would try out the Max10 ESC: www.hobbywingdirect.com/products/ezrun-max10-esc?variant=26983763784 It will give you some more reliable power being from the EZRun series and it is sensorless.

    Is there a budget combo like this that would be good to use in a Team Associated B74.1 that would be OK for competitive club racing.

    • @TheRCNetwork
      @TheRCNetwork  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      1/10th scale 4wd buggies are one of the most expensive to outfit with electronics. You really are going to want a sensored set up for any type of racing. there's a big difference in sensored va sensorless. Look at the Xerun line from Hobbywing. the G3 V10 motors are in the $79 range with the Just Stock ESC Combo at $220. www.hobbywingdirect.com/collections/xerun-series

    What are your thoughts about Trackstar from Hobbyking?

  • @fenx42
    @fenx42 7 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    I love the Hobbywing stuff; but for this kind of budget, you would have been far better off with the Trackstar stuff from Hobby King. This ESC seems fine for 17.5T 2WD buggy. But the Trackstar stuff will get you features similar to the Xerun ESC including the ability to run modified motors but for Ezrun money. Also the end bell is locked on this motor. You could argue for mod adjustable end bell timing isn't really necessary but for 17.5T is absolutely is. Again for similar money, you can get the Trackstar motor with fully adjustable timing.
    I can't fault you for staying with "Name Brand" stuff, but to completely discount Hobby King and its Trackstar brand is foolish; you can go to any race and I guarantee someone has something Trackstar or Turnigy (another Hobby King brand). I've even seen a lot of hobby shops carrying the Trackstar and Turnigy brands these days. 5 years ago you Hobby Wing was just "some Chinese brand", now its a go to brand. Trackstar is not far behind as being a go to brand.

    • @nicksteinbuch1561
      @nicksteinbuch1561 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      James Williams I completely agree. the trackstar stuff seems pretty good too. I have a HK basher bz-222 with that setup and has been great. also have a few HK products that have been pretty solid. I especially like the turnigy tools, so far the quality has been great especially for the price.

    What’s the difference between senesored vs sensor less

    • @TheRCNetwork
      @TheRCNetwork  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      sensored uses an extra wire going from the motor to the ESC and it tells the system exactly where the rotor of the motor is....giving the motor a MUCH smoother feel on start up and at lower RPM's. Sensorless doesn't have that, so it may feel rougher on start up and create a "cogging" effect or a rocking back and forth of the spur/pinion.

    Don't buy that hobbywing motor buy the Trackstar motor. Trackstar makes a way better motor and its only 50$ and comes with timing on the motor.

      Ean Whitt thanks for watching Ean.....if you watched the video.....it's already purchased! Lol. I'm sure there are many options out there. I really like the family of HobbyWing products. From the Quicrun, EZRun and the Xerun line.....there specs and price points for everyone. Plus, I've never been a fan of HobbyKing.....

      What gave you that impression - The title is "RC Budget Build - HOBBYWING Quicrun Brushless Sensored System" and the first words out of my mouth in the video is "unbox"
