Tips for the quest, this is for the second to last step, mentioned at 8:25 which is the “get 500 points in crucible” step. Here are the point values. Hand Cannon kills- 1 point Void anything kills- 1 point (It says void weapon kills but anything that’s void, abilities, supers, etc, will work) Precision hand cannon kills- 2 points Void hand cannon kills- 2 points Precision void hand cannon kills- 3 points You gain bonus points for going on a precision hand cannon kill streak, although I’m not sure how many. I’m not sure if you gain bonus points for a precision void kill streak. You gain even more points per kill if you play the competitive playlist and Iron Banner. Recommended hand cannons- Ace of Spades(kinetic) Malfeasance(kinetic) Last Word(kinetic) Sunshot(solar;possibly viable) Luna’s Howl(solar) Not Forgotten(solar) Ikelios HC(even better if you got it rolled as void in year 1) Kindled Orchid with a decent roll(void) Cold Sweat(energy; I have little to no knowledge of this hand cannon; trials hand cannon I believe) Service Revolver with a decent roll(kinetic) Thin Line with a decent roll(void) Midnight Coup(kinetic; possibly viable) Crimils Dagger with a decent roll(kinetic; iron banner) Duke Mk.44 with a decent roll(kinetic) Waking Vigil(arc; dreaming city hand cannon) Nation of Beasts(arc; last wish hand cannon) Sturm(kinetic; probably the least viable out of all of these) Crimson(kinetic; it may work but I’m not sure) If you do not have any of these hand cannons(somehow), any good rolled hand cannons, or you are not good with hand cannons(understandable) in general then there are alternatives, mainly void weapons. Alternatives- These are mainly void weapons Telesto(still kind of annoying now even after the nerf but if you MUST use it then fine) Graviton Lance(same as the telesto but requires more aim) A void shotgun(retold tale is a good one) Colony(same as telesto but requires EVEN LESS AIM but isn’t as reliable since you have to get heavy ammo from their spawns which will be camped constantly is the most annoying out the the three exotic alternatives I’ve mentioned so far) Claws of the Wolf(an iron banner pulse rifle) Tractor Cannon(a very fun weapon that can even suppress supers, although it has the same ammo problem as the colony because it’s a heavy weapon) A decently rolled Subtle Calamity(bow) Hammerhead(you can probably get the most kills with this one vs the tractor cannon and the colony since it’s a machine gun) Inaugural Address(Leviathan pulse rifle) Void snipers or fusion rifles Black Talon(exotic sword with lots of range) Edge transit or any grenade launcher with a good roll(I know that edge transit is a meme but it can be a good grenade launcher with the right roll) The Recluse(I’ve seen void ones out there so that’s a possibility) Hard Light(if you want, you can use it with void on, same for Borealis) Two Tailed Fox(it depends which rocket kills them, since it fire a void rocket and a solar rocket) Those are all the alternatives but I suggest trying to use a hand cannon, it will make this progress A LOT faster. This is what I ran 1. a void Ikelios HC 2. Ace of Spades or Last Word 3. Hammerhead or Bad Omens(and void heavy will be fine) 4. Sentinel code of the aggressor(I did this on my Titan; for hunters you should use spectral blades and warlocks and any voidwalker tree is fine) 5. One Eyed Mask or Doom Fang Pauldron(hunters probably should use gwizen vest for spectral blades and warlocks should use Skull of Dire Ahamkara for top tree, Nezarac’s Sin or Contraverse Hold for Middle tree, and Nezarac’s Sin for bottom tree) Feel free to go about your load out however you want, this is just a guideline. Please feel free to reply and add whatever suggestions you want. Edit: To clarify, any HAND CANNON or VOID WEAPON counts for progress, so you can use whatever you are most comfortable with as long as it is a hand cannon or its void. However, Void Hand Cannons will give more progress per kill, even more so if they are precision final blows.

Nature of the beast is the easy to get equivalent to lunas howl. Stats are almost the exact same, and i dont know if you can get it in void (mine is arc). I also dont know if you can get it anymore so if you have it lying around in your vault you could try it.

I thought you only need the seasons pass! I’m confused. I have shadowkeep and the pass, but not forsaken. I can’t get thorn. Nowhere have I read that you need forsaken. There is so little information available and it’s frustrating, I don’t know what the issue is. Do I seriously need forsaken? Because if so, I’m done with this game already.
Kels Kels again I’m not sure with the pass things as I’m new to D2 and their pass program. But, once I bought forsaken, I was able to grab the quest in the fire
The funniest thing with my ongoing "grinding" for the hand cannon kills was that i got ace of spades and i was killing with that for the catalist (I 100% forgot about the thorn quest). In about 6 hours (my accuracy is not that good) when i tried out the masterwork ace, i accidentally got the thorn quest step... I was like "oh nice i forgot about that".

I got lucky three rounded the first warlock phase in comp, but titan I have played four games and seen one titan for 3 essences. it's very hit and miss!

I really like how they designed the grind for Thorn actually. Lots of options with an optimal way to do it, and it gets people to do events they might not do otherwise. Helps populate the open world.
i actually found that doing quick play for the essence, plasteel, and wires worked really quickly. i got each step done within 2-3 games as long as i just kept slaying out.
pace yourself and do Rumble it was the easiest for me due to you having to have the final shot no team shooting assist, i suck at pvp took about 4 hours but im a potato
Did anyone pick up the fact that there is always a material that you have to get to complete each step right.... but if you pay attention to the materials it’s the same material that was in D1 from launch and would be used to upgrade armor pieces and each material belonged to each character Cool little fact
I tried the warlock in the crucible. I never saw him in the match until half way through it was just me and him, then he sent a nova bomb at me.... nightfall it is.
I got the first three steps done in Crucible in like a hour-2 hours. Very easy. I thought the Hunter one would be difficult but no. And it was only 2 hunters in one match.
I used to grind this game so much when it first launched did everything you could do and when dlc 1st, 2nd and stop when I beat forsaken I just got so burned out and haven’t played sense forsaken I want to get back into it but it’s been awhile and idk where to start lol so much to do now
Seeing everyone offer to help each other out with the quest steps makes me happy. I guess there’s a non toxic side of the destiny community as well. Love to see it, wish I could see more like this

There is a chest that is directly in front of you when you enter the camp sight.This is a much quicker way to do it if you know how. Opening the chest will give you an exotic quest step. The quest also has a note giving you a few tips on how to get that way.Use this way if you know how and want a challenge.
Guide for Savathun's song if you had trouble. Theres a spot on a small edge on the right side of the arena behind the rock face, get one person back there and ads will ignore them, and although it takes time, makes the boss doable at lower Light levels.
The thing is that I never really played the first game but I love destiny 2 and I hope that others will also like the game so people it's highly recommended in my taste
@@generic2762 I have a total of 0 seconds of crucible playtime across all 3 characters. That's not going to change. Just getting real tired of exotics being locked behind crucible requirements. Why give multiple options for the 3 quest steps prior, when you're then just going to force people into the crucible anyway? Give me a different pve based objective, heck make me kill a million yellow bar enemies, but give the option.

I felt similar when I learned what was required to get Mountain Top, which of course is not nearly as desirable as Thorn. Well I guess we can try our best and slowly grind towards Thorn or we just choose to live without it. After I got Malfeasance, I don't ever use it anyway because I don't use hand cannons. I'll tell myself the same thing this time, I don't need it.
Yep pissing me right off, stuck on crucible step for the last word, the thorn and Luna howl. Naughty they attach these to crucible because I don’t really play it but play all other modes of the game.

I'm no pvp'r I tried quick play Took to long,after 3 hours only at 14% Switched to rumble Done in 3 hours using crimson 3 shot burst Should of just did that initially.
Scratch that, I’ve got a different plan. You know what shockingly gets the job done really, really well if you don’t have Luna’s // Not Forgotten? The Trust hand cannon. Hear me out here. Exactly like IKELOS, Luna’s Howl And Not Forgotten, the Trust Is a 180 Rpm hand cannon with a really fast Time-To-Kill from what I can tell. Because It’s a 180, It falls Into the “Precision Frame” archetype - The most preferred on console. It gets the job done. And that’s from the guy who sucks all balls at Crucible. I went from 60% - 70% Quite easily with my Trust. And, while It’s solar, headshot kills bump up Time-To-Kill, and It still counts toward the quest step. Compare that to IKELOS, and you can really start to see what gun makes more of a difference [It’s Trust] Trust alone, without a fancy roll Is really consistent, I’ve got Outlaw // Rampage W/ Stability Masterwork and It still hangs. So, Trust In the Trust and the Trust will Trust In you. Take it for a spin, see how it goes. Tell me your percentages each game roughly, I’ll be stoked to know. [Step - Weaponise The Unknown]

Highly recommend going into COMP. Even with games like survival or breakout you get way more percentage for less kills. I got lucky with 3 games of clash in a row and went from 53 - 100 percent at the end of the third game.
I agree 100%, you buy the year pass, and every exotic addition forces me to play hours of crucible. We went over this bungie, dont be like Bioware, do what the paying fans want. Quit making us play pvp for the only decent/fun equipment.

Theres a ledge that you can jump on behind and to the left of the boss amd if one your fireteam members sit there he wont die and the other 2 can doe as many times as they want

True but I gave in to bungies trash and I bought it Friday I finished the thorn pretty much I’m just raising my light right now I’m 650 if I can get to 655 tomorrow I’ll finish it I got the last word at the same time all together both guns took me 6-7 hours
What a surprise, Rick Kackis uploaded a 15 minute video with 4 ads throughout it when the rest of the TH-cam community can make a thorn guide in under 10 minutes. I can always leave it to Kackis to upload a shitty and unnecessarily long video.
Just incase you dont know there is a second thorn quest in the location you find the thorn. Theres a chest a little further back and youll get a location thing that changes per hour where its linked to. Find that chest and itll start another thorn quest. So far the quests are diffrent
Tip:Your team will have to help you with this. Do competitive, kinetic kill=1%. Void Hand cannon kill=2%, Something that helps is if you use the hammer head,it’ll give you 1% per kill,so you could get atlease 10%-20% points a game.
For weaponize the unknown, I just went into crucible with a cold sweat, picked up shit tons of headshot kills, it’s a void weapon which was also a handcannon also in survival on top of killstreaks. Crazy how many bonus points you get. Killstreaks award more points, void HC gives 2 points alone and even more bonus for headshots lol. I was getting 10%+ on average.
I knew it, the creators at Bungie have released yet another gun that forces us into the crucible. I do ok in the crucible, im not the greatest but ok. I spend most if the time doing pve and gambit because I HATE the crucible. Here's why.... It's unbalanced in every aspect. First the weapons.... If you dont have a specific rolled weapon from hours of grinding, your at a disadvantage. If the weapon isnt masterworked, your at a disadvantage. Masterworking a weapon is expensive and time consuming but the payoff isnt worth it, your at a disadvantage ( Wow my range went up 5 whole points after 8 hours of grinding for Enhancement Cores... What Range wasnt what i needed on this gun... Well let me grind somemore... BS). Next the abilities recharge so fkn slow, I get MAYBE 2 grenades per match and my knife throw is useless it does little to no damage... Oh but thats not the worst the game forces you into the class and armor it wants you to use. Want more grenades use these gauntlets and be a Voidwalker, they are the only ones in the whole game with this abilityand you have to use a specific type of grenade, nevermind you clearly like the Gunslinger and they are not the ones you wanna use but who cares about that right. Lastly oh my god the heavy weapons... Can we please please please just get them outta crucible. I mean for the ammo to be so scarce everyone always has it. The heavy ammo recharges faster than my characters abilities. So while i only get 2 grenades per match i can keep my rocket launcher or heavy machine gun near full and always ready to use... It's not fair. Now they are like here's Thorn... To get it you can first go do PvE stuff on Io... Or go to the crucible. Next you can do PvE stuff on Titan... Or go to the crucible. Then you can do PvE stuff on Mars.... Or go to the crucible. But this next step you MUST go into the crucible plus you cant use the weapons you want. You have to use Void type weapons and energy... But you wont lose progress it just takes forever.. Where is the PvE alternative to complete this quest? Why am I now being forced to play in the crucible. For goodness sake the game tracks everything except my PvE to PvP ratio.... I HATE THE CRUCIBLE.
Sorry man this weapon was used as a pvp heavy weapon, from the lore to players using it in the crucible in d1, i do agree a pve option would've been nice it would be very hard as it would defeat the purpose of a pvp route

It's not even that good of a weapon, not worth the grind IMO. If you can aim worth a damn the ace of spades is just as good if not better than the thorn.

I really like how they designed the grind for Thorn actually. Lots of options with an optimal way to do it, and it gets people to do events they might not do otherwise. Helps populate the open world.

i actually found that doing quick play for the essence, plasteel, and wires worked really quickly. i got each step done within 2-3 games as long as i just kept slaying out.

I got the first three steps done in Crucible in like a hour-2 hours. Very easy. I thought the Hunter one would be difficult but no. And it was only 2 hunters in one match.
There are so many SB hunters that its the easiest step to complete in crucible. Got my sapphire wire in literally 1 round of control.

There is a chest that is directly in front of you when you enter the camp sight.This is a much quicker way to do it if you know how. Opening the chest will give you an exotic quest step. The quest also has a note giving you a few tips on how to get that way.Use this way if you know how and want a challenge.
Guide for Savathun's song if you had trouble. Theres a spot on a small edge on the right side of the arena behind the rock face, get one person back there and ads will ignore them, and although it takes time, makes the boss doable at lower Light levels.

I felt similar when I learned what was required to get Mountain Top, which of course is not nearly as desirable as Thorn. Well I guess we can try our best and slowly grind towards Thorn or we just choose to live without it. After I got Malfeasance, I don't ever use it anyway because I don't use hand cannons. I'll tell myself the same thing this time, I don't need it.
Yep pissing me right off, stuck on crucible step for the last word, the thorn and Luna howl. Naughty they attach these to crucible because I don’t really play it but play all other modes of the game.

Switched to rumble
Done in 3 hours using crimson 3 shot burst

You know what shockingly gets the job done really, really well if you don’t have Luna’s // Not Forgotten? The Trust hand cannon. Hear me out here.
Exactly like IKELOS, Luna’s Howl And Not Forgotten, the Trust Is a 180 Rpm hand cannon with a really fast Time-To-Kill from what I can tell. Because It’s a 180, It falls Into the “Precision Frame” archetype - The most preferred on console. It gets the job done. And that’s from the guy who sucks all balls at Crucible. I went from 60% - 70% Quite easily with my Trust. And, while It’s solar, headshot kills bump up Time-To-Kill, and It still counts toward the quest step. Compare that to IKELOS, and you can really start to see what gun makes more of a difference [It’s Trust] Trust alone, without a fancy roll Is really consistent, I’ve got Outlaw // Rampage W/ Stability Masterwork and It still hangs.
So, Trust In the Trust and the Trust will Trust In you.

God, watching this in season of the wish is like a fever dream
Highly recommend going into COMP. Even with games like survival or breakout you get way more percentage for less kills. I got lucky with 3 games of clash in a row and went from 53 - 100 percent at the end of the third game.
Whoever thought it was a good idea to do that crucible stuff need to be fired been playing all day and only at 30%

@@wither5k788 I mean you should be alright. All you have to do is kill all the bosses before the shrieker which can be killed pretty easily. Theres a ledge that you can jump on behind and to the left of the boss amd if one your fireteam members sit there he wont die and the other 2 can doe as many times as they want

What a surprise, Rick Kackis uploaded a 15 minute video with 4 ads throughout it when the rest of the TH-cam community can make a thorn guide in under 10 minutes. I can always leave it to Kackis to upload a shitty and unnecessarily long video.
Just incase you dont know there is a second thorn quest in the location you find the thorn. Theres a chest a little further back and youll get a location thing that changes per hour where its linked to. Find that chest and itll start another thorn quest. So far the quests are diffrent
When you go into crucible, remember to remove all void resistance armour mods...Dont be that guy 🅱️
Pro tip, the fastest way to unlock the Thorn in destiny 2, is to just play destiny 1 and stop accepting old content as “new”
Tip:Your team will have to help you with this. Do competitive, kinetic kill=1%. Void Hand cannon kill=2%, Something that helps is if you use the hammer head,it’ll give you 1% per kill,so you could get atlease 10%-20% points a game.
For weaponize the unknown, I just went into crucible with a cold sweat, picked up shit tons of headshot kills, it’s a void weapon which was also a handcannon also in survival on top of killstreaks. Crazy how many bonus points you get. Killstreaks award more points, void HC gives 2 points alone and even more bonus for headshots lol. I was getting 10%+ on average.

I knew it, the creators at Bungie have released yet another gun that forces us into the crucible. I do ok in the crucible, im not the greatest but ok. I spend most if the time doing pve and gambit because I HATE the crucible. Here's why.... It's unbalanced in every aspect.
First the weapons.... If you dont have a specific rolled weapon from hours of grinding, your at a disadvantage. If the weapon isnt masterworked, your at a disadvantage. Masterworking a weapon is expensive and time consuming but the payoff isnt worth it, your at a disadvantage ( Wow my range went up 5 whole points after 8 hours of grinding for Enhancement Cores... What Range wasnt what i needed on this gun... Well let me grind somemore... BS).
Next the abilities recharge so fkn slow, I get MAYBE 2 grenades per match and my knife throw is useless it does little to no damage... Oh but thats not the worst the game forces you into the class and armor it wants you to use. Want more grenades use these gauntlets and be a Voidwalker, they are the only ones in the whole game with this abilityand you have to use a specific type of grenade, nevermind you clearly like the Gunslinger and they are not the ones you wanna use but who cares about that right.
Lastly oh my god the heavy weapons... Can we please please please just get them outta crucible. I mean for the ammo to be so scarce everyone always has it. The heavy ammo recharges faster than my characters abilities. So while i only get 2 grenades per match i can keep my rocket launcher or heavy machine gun near full and always ready to use... It's not fair.
Now they are like here's Thorn... To get it you can first go do PvE stuff on Io... Or go to the crucible.
Next you can do PvE stuff on Titan... Or go to the crucible.
Then you can do PvE stuff on Mars.... Or go to the crucible.
But this next step you MUST go into the crucible plus you cant use the weapons you want. You have to use Void type weapons and energy... But you wont lose progress it just takes forever.. Where is the PvE alternative to complete this quest? Why am I now being forced to play in the crucible. For goodness sake the game tracks everything except my PvE to PvP ratio.... I HATE THE CRUCIBLE.
Sorry man this weapon was used as a pvp heavy weapon, from the lore to players using it in the crucible in d1, i do agree a pve option would've been nice it would be very hard as it would defeat the purpose of a pvp route
