The show does a horrible job showing the protagonist's pov this season. Everything is framed as her being petulant, despite her legitimate reasoning. It makes for uneven, uncomfortable viewing.
But I never got why they didn’t just tell Korra why they did it. She would probably would’ve understand better if they told the reason why they became so protective.

Korra in general is really unlikable this season. Thankfully the writers bring her back to how she was after this season and improve's on her character significantly.

Just some background about this season, and the season before: Season 1 was originally going to be split within 4 seasons, but because Nickolodeon hadn't been communicating well about the amount of seasons with the crew for TLOK, the pacing of both season 1 and 2 might be a little strange. The plot for season 1 was condensed to a single season, and season 2 was well...Season 2. I'd say Season 3 and 4 are where TLOK really shine.
You telling if they had all 4 season from the start we would be seeing a fight with amon for 4 seasons. That might have made show better. Season 2 trash though

After having read some of the comics that take place between the two shows, Unalaq really comes across as a villain opposite to Amon in his rhetoric. By preaching about the loss of the traditional way of life, he's advocating for a system that disadvantages non-benders. All the new developments in both technology and society in general are leveling the playing field. It's like how when Japan was forced to open itself, the samurai class was all like "but muh traditions!" because the lower classes were rising up.
like season 2 for the fact it introduced the origins of the first avatar and the beginning of the avatar cycle,it also gives us 5 new great characters,varrick,kya,bumi,and Eska and desna

Aaah book 2. A wonderful journey through the lore of ATLA, and a big season of growth for Korra. This book is probably one of the most important in all of Avatar for how much it affects the rest of the series. I love it!
Fun fact: Half of this season was animated by Studio Pierrot (Animated Naruto) you can see how the animation quality took a a slight drop this season. Cool tho since it was animated by an anime studio!

Yeah Aang had the burden and benefit of needing to learn the elements in such a short amount of time and his teachers were all kids around his age who had no where else to go, so he literally traveled with them all over the world. I'm sure his situation was quite unique, as previous Avatars and most likely most if not all Avatars after Aang would only train with a master until their training was complete. It is sad to see Tenzen part ways with Korra, but that's just how it's always been and we got too used to Aang's unique gang of masters.
