      in my opinion is because she fought an Airbender. aside zuko, other airbenders, an a few still living people who fought aang in the past, there is no one alive with any knowledge or experience fighting against that element. I doubt she ever trained with her brother, much less had a serious element fight with him. you add the fact that zaheer is a damn expert on the whole martial art behind airbending, and it is not really surprising she lost.

      True and you can see the cycle toph was raised overly strict so she gave her kids too much freedom which led to suyin doing things she regrets and so she is strict with her kids so they don't get up to any of the stuff she did when she was a teenager its a cycle

      @@celian.6577 hmm fair point ig that's the point of her letting Opal go to train with the Airbenders. Ig the point I meant was that she gives them more freedom than Toph's parents did to Toph in that they are at least allowed to roam the city which was never the case for Toph who was always confined to her family estate, but she still doesn't let them just wander the world on their own until Opal.

    Lin has been nothing but rejected her whole life and no one has cared. Tenzin, her mother, and her sister. She even did everything "right" and her mother still gave everything to Sue so she can't allow people in anymore and why she's become so tough and angry.

    • @sdragonfly5549
      @sdragonfly5549 3 ปีที่แล้ว +30

      Well to Su's credit she did try to reconcile and reach out to her repeatedly over the years, so part of that was self-inflicted and it wasn't like Su was badmouthing her, clearly, Su was talking Lin up to her children because Opal wanted to meet her badly. If anything the person to blame for Lin's insecurities is Toph, nobody wants to lay the blame squarely on Toph because badass Toph is everyone's favorite and her stans will excuse her and shift the goal post and do mental gymnastics, but Toph had a duty to her daughters that should have come above and beyond everything else and she failed spectacularly. In spite of it, Lin and Su aren't completely awful.

    • @sdragonfly5549
      @sdragonfly5549 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@Matthew-gl6ni I don't recall Su even implying that she wanted to invite Lin back to be part of the perfect family, I know she said she tried reaching out to Lin multiple times over the past 30 years to reconcile, that doesn't mean she was trying to get her to become part of her perfect family. It's like what Toph and Su did, Su didn't get Toph to come back and be part of the perfect family, Toph is still living in a swamp, but they were able to come together and talk and hash out their differences. I don't know where you are reading this whole thing where Su just wants Lin to come and be part of her family, because that's not how it reads at all, it reads as Su reaching an olive branch out to Lin and Lin rejecting it for 30 years. Lin has some intrinsic responsibility for her own misery and it's not until Lin actually confronts her sister as opposed to avoiding her sister that's she's able to attain her own inner peace again showing that her suffering is something that's just as much a self-inflicted thing as it is a result of Toph's bad parenting. I also never said that you said they were awful, I said they both turned out to be good people in spite of Toph's poor parenting.
