Jason despite the injured wrist you're out there living life and making the most of it. May it heal up soon. Much better than sitting at home on the lounge, watching TV and dreaming about a better life. Not to mention, that you've created a really entertaining and informative channel about living a great lifestyle. Cheers, Sean.
I can't believe they send you up after a couple of tandem rides! You could see the ground coming up fast and it looked like you were still turning. When a bit of panic sets in unfortunately the theory goes out the window. Hope you heal fast, which is not always the case at our age!
Unfortunately with solo sports like this there's no other way to learn. I did shorter flights and landings a few days before this one, but I just stuffed that one up. Anyway, only a small injury so all good 😁
I think you are doing an awesome job at paragliding! How amazing are you for doing it on your own! You cant be perfect straight away. I hope your wrist is ok! Wishing you a speedy recovery 🌞 thank you for all your videos. Love what you do
Hi Jason Joseph from teralba great videos especially paragliding think I saw your van at warners bay opposite shops sorry couldn’t stop in mates car maybe catch you before you head off on travels 👍😊
Jason, really enjoyed this episode, action packed, the pizza looked delicious like a contemporary artwork! Hope your wrist heels soon so you can finish your glider course, cheers, Col
There is no stupidity in learning. There is only stupidity in not trying. Your videos are inspiring, entertaining and informative. Please be kinder to yourself in the frustrating times of learning. And thank you for sharing your more vulnerable times along with the rest of your amazing journey. Keep flying, keep smiling 😊
You're exactly right. I have enough things in my past already that I wish I had done. Don't want to miss out any more! I do get frustrated easily, but it helps me analyse my mistakes and do better next time.👍
More power to you for taking flight so to speak, Jason. I'm afraid it wouldn't be for me. I'm a landlubber and like my feet firmly planted on terra firma! Still, it was interesting to watch the process you are going through to get your wings. Good luck with it, mate. What's next, bungee jumping? ;) Peter
Oh no... I hope your wrist is ok. Believe it or not I am watching this with a full cast on my left hand/arm... yep you guessed it I have a broken wrist 😂 Great video minus the injury and I love all the whale shots you are getting lately. Heal quickly 😊
Thanks Sage! Must be something about those left arms 😂 It's the same one I bashed years ago when I crashed my bike, and also broke it when I was about 8....
Thanks for taking one for the team so I can cross that sport off my list to try! Too much waiting around for the weather and possibility of broken things!! Hope you are OK Jason.
Awesome riding tracks. The guy on the electric unicycle thing was amazing! I don’t think I could even ride one on a flat road without face planting the ground, so seeing him do jumps was amazing!! What a spectacular view from up there on your paraglider!! It must take a lot of guts to be able to run off a cliff & trust the wing to keep you in the air. How amazing to get to see the whales from that point of view too! Is it very hard to control that thing? I think I’d probably float off into oblivion lol. I bet the walk back up the hill with the wing is hard lol. You hurt yourself more gracefully than I do, there would’ve been a few words said if I’d landed on my wrist lol. I think you can get a shuttle bus to the hospital from the Knights stadium at Lambton, but Belmont hospital has free outdoor parking & they’re a lot faster to get you seen than JHH. I hope your wrist is ok. If you need any help let me know, I’m not far away. I’d love to know where your secret spot is. I wish you could message on TH-cam lol. I like that spot at Carrington, but it can get a bit noisy with the boaters. Hoping you’re feeling good enough to keep going with your course, I’m looking forward to seeing what you do next!
Thankyou very much, Sally 😊 I think I'll be out of flying and riding for a few weeks now, but it's not too bad. I was surprised to see unicycle guy do the jumps!😂 The paragliders are actually quite easy to fly once in the air. The tricky part is knowing where to fly and making sure you don't go too far away from rising wind currents. Oh and landing can be hard 😂
@ yes landing did look tricky. It looks like you need a lot of physical fitness to do it. It must be such an incredible feeling being up there though! Hope you heal up quickly so you can get back to flying. Will you stay around Newcastle while you’re healing? Hope it’s not impacting your driving too much. Thank goodness for automatics lol
@sallyb1433 😂 yes, very happy I have an auto at the moment! I'm thinking it will take a few weeks to heal properly, so may just go up north further for a while....not sure yet.
@@MakingStuffGoingPlaces nice! Lucky you’ve got good ventilation in your van. We just did a trip up North & it was hot 🥵 lol. I was grateful when the rain came.
Hope your wrist has healed quickly. It's all a learning experience and thankfully not a higher hard landing. That is a full on way to fly but once you've had more experience it will become 2nd nature. Couldn't believe you went up after that bike ride! Gee man!! 😄 That view and those whales, worth it. The grassed landing spot ( paddock) looked a bit dodgey ... ankle twisting! Hope weather has been playing nicely for you this week.
It's actually good to have video of everything. Really helps me compare the good versus bad and get it straight in my head. Not the best of landing sites. In hindsight, I might be better heading for the beach on these early landings until I get used to the rate of descent.
@MakingStuffGoingPlaces Yes, great to be able to look at the footage, compare, adjust etc. Will they allow you to land on beach in practice? Defs a better landing spot...away from the cliff face though!
@paulineh4019 on that day the beach landing would have been a cross wind, so not ideal either. There's really only that one site around here for beginners, so it is difficult. My instructor was initially talking about doing a beach landing a few days before, but I think it was the wind in Tuesday that made it hard.
Wow! Exciting video Jason, thank you. I hope your wrist injury isn't too serious and wish you a speedy recovery mate. Congratulations on your solo flight, fantastic effort. Was that paraglider you flew the same one that you did the tandem in or is it a different one? Also I'm curious why you chose this type of flying verse the hang gliding? Is one safer than the other or easier to learn over the other? Just curious.
Thanks 😊 All the wings are different sizes for different weights, so the tandem unit is huge! I was on the second smallest and will buy the smaller one still. Hang gliding is probably safer as I think you're less at the mercy of the wind. I chose paragliding though so I can fold it up and put it in the van.
Such glorious views! It is so impressive that you are already flying by yourself. You have worked out what you did wrong and you will get better with practise; it is the same when developing any skill set. I am in awe.
Oh boy. How's the wrist? When you were starting to land I could tell it was going to be hard!!! Not sure I can watch your adventures without covering my eyes!
Hang gliders are the solid winged ones. They are more efficient so can handle higher wind speeds and probably more controllable. Problem is they're a lot bigger!😂
....what I didn't say🙄 Paragliders fold up quite small so can fit it inside the van. Hang gliders would need to be carried on the roof,... difficult when my roof is so high and covered in solar panels.
Maybe play out landings in your mind, rather than try to react to landing in the instance. Obviously reacting to circumstances is the most important, but your mind may not be playing to the smoothness of the procedure. Like bring told to hit piano keys, ding ding ding, and not hold long enough to make pleasant sounds you want to hear.

Thanks Sean. As soon as it's good again, I'll be back out there 😁
Hear, hear!
So pleased you’ve decided to go for it! Have fun.

All about learning, lesson well learnt there I bet that never happens again!
I have a list of things gone wrong from that one!😂
I think you are doing an awesome job at paragliding! How amazing are you for doing it on your own! You cant be perfect straight away. I hope your wrist is ok! Wishing you a speedy recovery 🌞 thank you for all your videos. Love what you do
Thank you!😊
Hopefully it doesn't take long to get better. Really want to get back to flying 😁
that actually looks like a good fun ... still don't know if I would do it myself, keep up the good work, cheers, Garry
Thanks Garry. Should be really good once I get the hang of it 😁
Hi Jason Joseph from teralba great videos especially paragliding think I saw your van at warners bay opposite shops sorry couldn’t stop in mates car maybe catch you before you head off on travels 👍😊
😂 so close! Yeah, stopped by there this morning. I've already headed out of town now, but will be back at some point 👍
Jason, really enjoyed this episode, action packed, the pizza looked delicious like a contemporary artwork! Hope your wrist heels soon so you can finish your glider course, cheers, Col
Thanks Col 😊
Hopefully I get back in the air in a few weeks.

11:05 Wouldnt be doing that on a unicycle with electric propulsion! And he did have the sense to stay on the ground. 😄 Stay safe fella. 👍
Thanks mate 😁
I was quite impressed with him jumping the unicycle 😂
Great video. Hope you are healing well. You are so lucky to see so many whales on your travels
Thanks Vicki. Surprising there still so many up north.
Bummer about the wrist. But your visuals from your flight (particularly the tandem one) were a delight. All the best on the next flight.
Thanks mate. Yeah, some very different perspectives from up there. Love it!😁
More power to you for taking flight so to speak, Jason. I'm afraid it wouldn't be for me. I'm a landlubber and like my feet firmly planted on terra firma! Still, it was interesting to watch the process you are going through to get your wings. Good luck with it, mate.

Thanks Peter 😁
I'm super keen to be able to progress my licence level. It's actually a lot of work....
Oh no... I hope your wrist is ok. Believe it or not I am watching this with a full cast on my left hand/arm... yep you guessed it I have a broken wrist 😂

It's the same one I bashed years ago when I crashed my bike, and also broke it when I was about 8....
@MakingStuffGoingPlaces Holy crap!... and the same one a dog mauled on me 2 years ago. Definitely not our good luck arms 😂
@Sage1212 I think a dog bit me on that arm when I was about 10 or so as well!😂 Hard to see the scar now, but it think it was the left one.
@MakingStuffGoingPlaces wow that's no good. Luckily I am right handed!
All good jason - learning to PG is peppered with little incidents like this - it is a blast tho.
Absolutely! I'm just really annoyed I have to stop for a few weeks 😂
Belmont Hospital has an open car park, so no height restrictions. Still costs to park there though. Their emergency department is pretty good.
Belmont hospital parking is free now thankfully
@sallyb1433 Oh, that's great :)
Thanks Chris. I'll drop in there if it's not getting better over the next few days 😁
@MakingStuffGoingPlaces all good, I've always found their emergency department easier than JHH.
Thanks for taking one for the team so I can cross that sport off my list to try! Too much waiting around for the weather and possibility of broken things!! Hope you are OK Jason.
😂 yeah, a lot of waiting for the wind! The rest of the risks are worth it though.
Wishing you a speedy recovery with the wrist. All the best
Helen
Thanks Helen. Getting better already :)
Omg Jason, get it xrayed. How is it tonight? I hope you feeling ok
It is improving, so I'll see how it goes. I doubt it's broken. I can still move it to a certain degree. 😁👍

@sallyb1433 I must say, the Blue van is definitely hotter than my last white one!
Hope your wrist is ok Jason. Great video, awesome whales and scenery! Take care x
Thanks. It'll be ok 😁👍
Great video. Good luck with the rest of your course
Thanks. Not sure when I'll get back to it but hopefully soon.
Really great video. Thanks
Thanks Norman!😊
You did well, great experience
It's so good being up high! Just the whole coming down thing...😂

👍😁
Bummer about your wrist, Jason - hope it's just bruised. Thanks for the video. 👍🦘🦘🦘🦘🦘
Thanks Robyn 😊
I hope it's not too long before I'm good to go again.
Ouch mate. If we were meant to fly we’d have wings 😂
😂 the flying part was fine...it was the ground that caused a problem 😜
@ that is true I suppose 🤣. How is it feeling? I’m presuming it was a few days since it happened?
@tezzaskayakfishing nuh, only happened yesterday, but a lot better today. Still swollen and useless, but not hurting 😁
Sorry to hear about the wrist. Hope it gets better.
Thanks. It'll come good 😊

At least my wrist isn't worse today, but it will be a while before it's 100% again. Very annoying!
Fair flop! I guess that's the benefit of a drone is that you can cartwheel along the ground and all you hurt us your pride 😉
Yeah, absolutely! Drone are probably less windy dependant too 😂
@@MakingStuffGoingPlaces I make my own wind 😎
😂
Another great Vlog, I have to ask , what’s the difference between hang gliding and para gliding? Cheers from Geelong ❤️🦘🦘🦘🇦🇺
Hang gliders are the solid winged ones. They are more efficient so can handle higher wind speeds and probably more controllable. Problem is they're a lot bigger!😂

Wow practice makes perfect you’ll get it trying out new things is always good still not for me tho 😂
😂 yeah, just need more practice!

Exactly right. Its good having the video of each one so I can cement in my head what is good and bad!😁
Hate to say it, but learning to fly ANYTHING as an older person is not a good idea. Brain thinks you’re 20, body does not agree …
😂 yeah, don't heal like the young kids! Same with mountain biking.
Great show mate , hope it’s not the hand you spank the monkey with lol 😂
🤣🤣 no bike riding, no flying and no sex!
