Came to work in Newcastle many years ago and then came back to live and I love the place. It's an amazing hidden gem that is now being discovered by many people from other cities. It's close to Lake Macquarie and Port Stephens as well as the Hunter Valley vineyards🤩🤩

The round pool next to Newcastle Ocean Baths has a map of the world under all that sand. If only it got renovated/repaired, that would be fantastic. A haircut every week? Mate you must be loaded. Cheers from Mayfield.

Nonsense. It's a dreadful cesspool of crime and disease. It's just like the dark place where the hyenas live in the Lion King. Tell all your friends, don't move here.

Thank you for the amazing video. Many people just go to Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane and have no idea of the local spots. Good luck with your channel.

Fort Scratchley is the only coast artillery installation in Australia to have have fired in anger against an enemy naval unit. At 2:17 am a Japanese submarine the I21 shelled Newcastle. The two guns on site opened fire in reply. Two shells were fired from each gun and they straddled the submarine. I 21 decided not to test their luck and left the area. All the guns inside the fort can be fired and are on special occasions. The Fort Scratchley Historical Society has been involved since 1982 and has achieved a lot since then. The fort is well worth a visit.

I'm not sure why you haven't continued these video's? I was going to subscribe but then could only find 2... this one and Port Stephens. There are many places to explore around Newcastle, some you mentioned instead of showing but also many others and around Lake Macquarie and out to Caves Beach caves. This was a great start.

I went with my son to Sydney barracks with his school, pretty interesting, but they were built from the get go off colonisation, but being 1882 it was probably the same architecture being used? Considering Newcastle isn't that far from us, we have never actually been to the barracks there. If you have a look there is an old hospital overlooking the beach - something else now - my great grandmothers sister was in there, she was Aboriginal and had developmental concerns, so she was snatched from Sydney and lived there till 1920ish. Which considering the time - I believe that was under "moral treatment" in the psych homes after the wars is when it changed. There's a lot of history around - I think its a good idea revisiting as I believe people have forgotten and as things are not actually true as they once were in some historical aspects - finding the truth is a good thing!
