I don't know why I torture myself and watch so many Bible reviews! I have no NEED for another Bible. But, when I see one like this one, that is almost perfect, I WANT it! The good thing is that I am learning to say "no" to myself.....a lot!
Thanks for this great review, Randy. The new Thomas Nelson offerings are really exquisite. This vbv NKJV should make an excellent and very cost effective alternative to the new Cambridge Topaz once an NKJV version is available.
Awesome!! My Grandma just got me one... I thought mine had a flaw because the first few pages at beginning of Genesis retract back in two sections.. thought my binding had a flaw.. until page 50 something... But I see it's normal cause yours does it too... I'm glad to see that lol cause I have OCD and it would have drove me crazy thinking mine was flawed but seeing it's normal I won't let it take over me lol
Awesome Bible and awesome review! That space in the gutter seems a bit narrow for me... I'll have to check when my copy arrives. Other than that it seems amazing. Thank you for the review :)
Hey Randy, can you do a comparison with this Bible and the NKJV preaching Bible. Believe me, this Bible looks better than to me than their preaching Bible, plus it has a concordance, a good one at that too. I have the brown leathersoft and the paper feels awesome and the construction is just wonder. Some beautiful Bibles from Thomas Nelson and these made in China bibles are awesome (although there are some people who think that Bibles shouldn't be made there).
Thought I would check out your review. Very good, thank you. Am very excited as I just ordered the brown goatskin single column nkjv. Just as a humorous aside, I have closed captioning because I like to watch TH-cam movies and have difficulty with the audio sometimes. When you said "floppy Bible" it came up as "floppy bowel" in the caption. The closed captioning is not always accurate. Anyway, thank you again and blessings to you.
Just received my copy and from the beginning of opening the package discovered it's certainly something different for me. A lot of thought and care went into first impressions. Dare I say that this bible is simply beautiful. Now to my personal point after opening; are these pages going to be okay by my making my own personal notes and highlighting? I'll be using "Bible Micro-LinePens Studio Series" Claiming as Archival, Waterproof, Fade Proof, No Bleed, 0.25.. Tips ?? Thanks for any answers or comments ! Best , JR
Randy, Thomas Nelson knows bibles! My Quentel has reigned supreme for reading, but for daily studying this will be right next to my Turquoise. By the way, this copy looks like the exact one you and Niki looked over in your earlier video. Lol.
I’m interested in purchasing the NKJV Classic Verse-by-Verse Center-Column Comfort Print Reference Bible. My question is, what is the gsm for the non premium edition? Is there a difference between the paper between the genuine leather edition compared to the premium?
Hi! They're all 36gsm. I'd need to compare them again to see if there are any differences. It will take a few days before I can get to them. You can see more in the written reviews- biblebuyingguide.com/gray-nkjv-classic-verse-by-verse-center-column-reference-bible/#Construction%20and%20Materials
@@BibleBuyingGuide thank u. It’s strange bc it’s only with the blue one and the goatskin edition that it specifies 36gsm. For the other leather editions and the leather soft it does not mention it in the product description.
Thomas Nelson seems to have an issue with the gold gilding they put around the edges on the inside of the cover, i've ordered two premier collection bibles from them in the last month and both of them came with the gilding rubbed off and it continues to rub off even when swiping it gently with my finger. Not pleased with their quality control thus far. Do you know of any way to fix the gold that's rubbing off? I was thinking of using a gold leafing pen and some tape to redo the rubbed off parts. Don't want to go through the hassle of getting them replaced.
I’m a pastor and looking for a Bible for literally just preaching. Not something for note taking or anything. I want something that’s verse by verse, nkjv and something that will last me a long time. Would you recommend this one or the nkjv preaching Bible? I haven’t saw either one in person. Love the Bible reviews by the way
The top spine rib on mine is flatter than the rest and not so pronounced. Not happy with that. Ribbons also glued in at angles. Thomas Nelson should have better quality control, some of us live in 3rd world countries and cannot just send stuff back.
Great Review! Thank you so much. I ordered one and can't wait for it to arrive but it's actually on backorder at Christianbook.com where I found it on a good 3 day sale for $119.00 no tax, free shipping but I went head and paid for "a little" faster when they do get it in next week 🙏 I have bought a few bibles and things from them, usually pretty good service. I'm excited hope it doesn't take too long...
By the way, I got a Schuyler KJV Canterbury a good while back and I love it. I'm sure this NKJV will be my new go-to bible after I get it! I have a few other NKJVs but nothing this nice. Just wanted to also mention it had a pretty bad typo in it and I called the Co. upon which they acted like it was nothing and said they were aware of the typo???... I don't think it's nothing... I thought they should at least give me a coupon or something? But no just wanted to get off the phone... I will not be buying anymore very pricey bibles from them.
Will you be doing reviews for the non premium covers? I know it's the same layout but, wondering what the paper is, comfort printing still the same, red letter, etc.... Thanks,
I like the layout of this Bible better than the Schuyler Quentel. I think it's a better design/layout overall, and it's definitely on par with the quality of the Quentel. 👍
Yes, not sure what's going on with that gutter, it's too tight 🙁. The bible is too big for me also. Holman several years ago did a large print ultrathin reference, with verse by verse, 10-10.5 font, very dark print, center column reference, very easy to read, very good opaque paper (Allan used the same text block to bind) & kept the dimensions to 9.5 x 6.5 x 1. That's what I originally hoped this one would be like 😔, I believe this one is bigger than a Quentel.
Does anyone have a email address for Thomas Nelson? I reached out to them via their website concerning the issues with my bible but never got any response.
@@BibleBuyingGuide I don't like that they shortened it tbh I really liked the 3 page one or 2 page not a 1 page one is this one or the NKJV Comfort Print Single-Column Reference Bible, Premier better for personal Bible Study
Nelson and some Zondervan have good use of RED hilites and verse #s. So most of my attention goes THERE. I NOW feel rather cheated w/o RED. So I don't buy them on purpose.
Brother R. quick question, i just purchased this bible for a friend and noticed that the gold guild-line is flicking off in the corners. Also some of the pages were lightly stuck together, so i had flip through every page to make sure they weren't stuck. Does your copy also have these same little defects fresh out the box ???
Mine wasn't new in the box. It was the one they gave me at the CPE show in August and it was already shown to a lot of people before I saw it. None of the other new editions that I've gotten from them have had any pages stuck or gold flicking off that I've noticed.
@Joshua Busby so that means you won't be buying bibles in the United States either then. I hate it when you Americans say things like that. You make it seems like America is heaven or even better, as if in the great United States you don't persecute Christians, and are telling pastors what they can preach and suing Christian store owners because they don't want to cater to or serve homosexuals. Further isn't in America where they removed the ten commandments from government building and from schools? Not the bigotry. Thank God he has no problems with Bibles made anywhere.
I don't know why I torture myself and watch so many Bible reviews! I have no NEED for another Bible. But, when I see one like this one, that is almost perfect, I WANT it! The good thing is that I am learning to say "no" to myself.....a lot!
Hope the black letter, center column, verse by verse, NKJVs are in Nelson's future! Retro layouts are becoming desirable.
The poetry and psalms is as good as I have EVER seen.
Mine has NO problem with gutter. I love the RED letter.
The gutter and the red-text was the kicker for me. Almost the perfect storm!
Thanks for this great review, Randy. The new Thomas Nelson offerings are really exquisite. This vbv NKJV should make an excellent and very cost effective alternative to the new Cambridge Topaz once an NKJV version is available.
The heading at Philippians also has a misprint. It says "he Epistle of Paul..." the T from THE is missing.
May be my favorite bible. Easy to READ.

Hi JR. I haven't tried those pens myself, but this paper is great for notes with any markers made for Bible paper.

Good eye! It's the same Bible. She sent it home with me.
Nice overview! Does it have the full set of translator's notes? I noticed some of theirs do not.
Thanks! As far as I can tell it does. It matches the NKJVs from Cambridge and Schuyler.
Such a nice bible. Buying this. Thanks!

It is luxurious. I hold it sitting down.. would not preach from it if I had to hold standing.
. Softest I have seen including Schuyler.

Thanks! Both are excellent choices. I think this one would last longer because of the goatskin cover and leather liner.
The top spine rib on mine is flatter than the rest and not so pronounced. Not happy with that. Ribbons also glued in at angles. Thomas Nelson should have better quality control, some of us live in 3rd world countries and cannot just send stuff back.
If only Crossway allowed Nelson to make the ESV.. this Bible seems to me like everything the topaz should have been.
@biblebuyingguide would you be able to tell me the equivalent Times New Roman font? Thanks

It's smaller than the original and bigger than the thinner Q. I compared them in the next video.
Can you specify this font typeface ? Size ?
10 point Comfort Print designed by 2K/Denmark
Unless a Cambridge or NELSON OR ZONDERVAN...I TRY TO AVOUD RED LETTER TEXT NOW.... AS I GET OLDER.
Does anyone have a email address for Thomas Nelson? I reached out to them via their website concerning the issues with my bible but never got any response.
This bible alone almost makes NKJV my favourite translation.
Why did you say "leather lined "?
The liner is leather. I just shortned that.
What kind of leather?
@@paulm283Platypus
Why is the preface so short in this one?
They recently abridged the preface. I'm not sure why.

You CAN actually read these references unlike Schuyler. At least for me. Too busy at bottom in Quentel.
Wow. A concordance you can read. Unlike QUENTEL. At 2 x the price.

at a high price of almost 200 bucks folks lol these publishers such ripoffs
Sad it is a red letter edition. I don't like them, because all the bible is Jesus words. Otherwise it would be perfect.
