The decibel scale is logarithmic. 5 decibles might not seems like a huge difference on the scale, but it's a strange scale. 70 dB is not just 5 points higher than 65. It is 5x more. Great video. Love your channel.

This is the most underrated mod you can do to your Jeep. I love my hothead headliners! Music sounds so much better too, without all the reflection from the hard top.

Totally worth it. I bought these for my Gladiator last year and they made a huge difference. Picked them up from their shop, great staff, friendly service. I definitely recommend for any Jeep owner.

My first Jeep came with the Mopar liner, for some reason my new Sahara 4Xe didn’t and I notice the difference. After seeing this, I’m sold! Gonna go order them now. Thank you!

I put the stock headliners in and love them. If you want the inside to look like a much higher car, paint the entire top inside to match the headliners. I used rubberized satin black paint and it looks really great. Its been a year and the paint still looks great and the sound quality in the jeep is orders of magnitude better. I will post a short video of what it looks like on my youtube page.

Probabaly in my top three of all my Gladiator mods so far. Road noise is significantly reduced and the audio sound is greatly improved. Installed Sound assassin strips, headliner front and back as well as the rear pillar options. Well worth the price.

My Rubicon came with the factory headliner and I love it. I feel like it makes my alpine stereo system sound even better! Lol

Excellent review showing that this headliner does make a difference and I agree on it making it look more defined on the inside. Great Review

We did the Bedrug version at half the price. They arent as fancy looking but they hold patches and do a decent job in KC.

Decibels are in a logarithmic scale. 4 to 5 decibels is a pretty good improvement

Each 3 db is a doubling in the sound level. So in reality they did a very good job at sound reduction. I had looked at these when I bought my Gladiator 7 months ago. As it was middle of the winter, I put off the mod. Just saw your video and thanks for including the sound test!! I think that this will be my next project. Gladiator is at the shop right now getting a new steel front bumper and 12,000 winch!!!

The DB difference doesn’t really show the sound difference. It gets rid up that hollow sound and drops it 5DB. That’s a big difference.

Awesome video. The wet towel while sanding is a great idea. My sons new Willy will be here in 7 weeks but I'm ordering these Hothead Headliners now. Thanks for sharing.

I believe the headliners depend on where you live. Might help in places like Arizona, but this part of Nor Cal doesn’t reach triple digits too often. Test drove a JL with the headliner & really didn’t notice much difference at highway speeds, so I went without the liner on my JLU. I’m sure they help; just not sure to what extent.

You answered of my questions. Didn't know if you would transfer your old patches to your new ride or if it was vehicle specific.

I skipped the sanding step and just wiped down the underside of the fiberglass top with acetone. No issues with the panels staying up there, way less fiberglass dust.

3db change is twice +3db the power/sound or half -3db.

Those strips are like dynamat which you could probably just put up there for a better result but worse looks. I agree though those liners are worth having

Just commenting to agree with you and definitely think they are worth the money. Sound and place for patches they do help with. I would say it helps only slightly with temperature in my opinion.

What you need to take into account also is that 10dB less is perceived as half as loud. Also, you must take frequency into account. Thin material like that is only effective at the highest frequencies. In acoustics the highest frequency range we can hear is called "air". You probably got rid of some "air" and perhaps some "flutter echo". The latter is one of the most detrimental things in room acoustics.

Before the headliner I noticed it sounded more hollow and echoing. With headliner sounded less hollow sounded like you were in a more insulated room

3dB is significant, from a quick listen I can hear a lot of top end gone in the after sound samples likely from the high end getting eaten up and turned into heat and not reflecting back
wasn't considering these but now am

My low level sport came with headliners from the factory…I wonder what the decibel difference is compared to hotheads liners…

When i was in moab i was bamboozled as to why for every 1 sticker there was 1 magnet and like 9583734838 patches. Is there some significance to patches vs stickers or magnets? Whilst in moab i assumed they were sew in patches for those who rode motorcycles and are bad boys covered in tatoos and riding those harleys. Clearly i was wrong.
Db works in funny ways. 1 db is very significant so a drop in 5 is low mathematically but because of how sound works is actually magnitude quieter.

    • @jackiebeene9609
      @jackiebeene9609 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Yep, 3 db is a doubling in sound volume

  • @TwoFeatherChannel

plus with patches it will give you 5 to 10 more assassinated db's
