      Water depth on gladiator is 33”, which is the stock tire size on the Rubicon, Mojave is a little taller, but all your important electric things reside about ‘middle of the grill’….radiator fan and alternator. Then if you do manage to swamp it to the point where a snorkel keeps you from sucking in water, your battery and several fuse blocks are only ~ 1” different than the air intake hole the snorkel plugs into. Not hating, just saying, I crossed water a little over my 33s the other day, then looked under the hood at the water/mud lines, it was closer to the sparky and shocks bits than I’d prefer

    • @OzarkOverlandAdventures

      @@brsnow225 the alternator is on top of the engine. You apparently don’t understand how a bow wave works and the significance of the location of the stock airbox.

No hate whatsoever, just putting things in context for us. Thanks for the transparency when making this video. Keep up the great work! The content is great and we enjoy watching the channel. Matt, thanks for taking the time to put this together. For you, I think this was the logical step up from Knuckles. Not so sold on the aux lights. Have heard some negative stories surrounding water infiltration, but you can’t beat the price.
    What I’m not so sold on is Cara’s Jeep. I know she wanted a Jeep and a Bronco, and, and, and. When you’re traveling full time it has to be about experiences not things, because you simply don’t have the ability to take everything with you.

    • @frenchie4wd
      @frenchie4wd 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey! I do like having new tech. Not really here to sell anyone on anything. We just weren’t able to outfit the grand Cherokee with the armor it needed for us. The bronco, while being awesome, is a huge unknown for us when we both have experience with Jeeps. When we are on the road full time, I will need a vehicle that can 1) go to the remote places we plan to travel to and 2) allow an extra vehicle for when either Matt goes on trails and I have to stay back or when his Jeep has to have repairs. We don’t want to be stranded with no means of travel. So while, we won’t have the ability to take everything we own with us full time..another vehicle has always been a given.

    I just ordered a 22 Rubicon extreme recon plus lots of other options and when I priced it online at home it was 59k but when I got to the dealer most options went up and added about 2k to the build. Probably 2 years ago it would have been a good amount less but entertainment is not cheap and if it lasts 5-10 years it’s a good deal.

    as premium quality lightbars go, that KC is average to reasonable price... I am with you though.... I have other things I want first (armor) for my tacoma, but I am eyeing a $150 LED lightbar from nylight for my tacoma. that KC is no doubt superior (though nylight claims they have a lot of lumens if you trust their numbers) still at $150, I can replace it 12 times if it is not up to the quality of the KC... if I have to replace it twice, or if I win the lottery, I am looking at starting to build a full set of Baja Designs (maybe by then I will have learned video editing enough I am content to start publishing and build my own youtube channel, and can get some sponsorship from BD) :) auxbeam where the other ones I was looking at on amazon, but could not find everything I wanted.

    I was expecting more around 100k. I love how real you are with your videos and products you use. It's shows on a business stand point but is still straightforward, you aren't afraid to say you dislike or wouldn't buy a 2k light bar or other products that aren't needed.

    Congratulations for a build so well thought out. So not counting the 2022 Gladiator price you have about $26,000 in upgrades and kit. That really looks good for the amount of Overlanding and camping you do.🤙👍

    For you and what you do it totally makes sense. There are definitely a few things I prefer a different brand of but if we all had the exact same mods then it wouldn't be as fun. Honestly a year ago I never saw myself doing this kind of thing, I've always been sports cars but I love my Gladiator and can't wait till I can get it exactly how I want it.

    Yes that is crazy. $88k for a truck is nuts. That's way more than I paid for my first house. That being said I am $40K into my Tacoma build. I am getting ready to drop $2.2K into a Toytech lift kit and another $1.5K into a wench and rock sliders. This whole hobby is insanely expensive. It is however a lot of fun. I wish they would send me stuff for free.

    I was looking at picking up a gladiator and going with a Metal Cloak / JCR off road build.
    Right now all my attentions are on my CJ and Ram. My CJ is a never ending build that I started back in 2015 and I break out the Chip Foose rendering sketch pad every week tweaking the build. I'm picking up the VL75ProD and I love that slide. You might find your self trying to talk the wife into getting a RIPP SC added to her Jeep so you can swap into yours a few months down the road.
