+Poncho likes bacon It's perfect! the machining is beautiful. The commentary is informative. The editing is superb. I watch soo many machining channels but chris offers THE best viewing angles. I dont think I could love this channel any more.
+Joel Crawford I'm so pleased you're enjoying it Joel, I have to admit to being kind of emotional myself! I can tell you this clock is protected better than POTUS - I can't begin to tell you how careful I have become while handling this clock!
You are the only person with an Australian accent that I can listen to. My girl friend is from new Zealand and I'm used to hers, Australian just sounds weird and I end up focusing on nothing else. But with you. Your work speaks way louder.
+Cesotoseot Still 5 more episodes before its off to college - Escapement, pendulum, stop work, winding key and another design modification that I'm building up the courage to attempt :)
Geez, I can't get over how gorgeous this clock is, and the moment you get to see everything working together after months of watching is purely satisfying.
Man, seeing everything fit together and watching the hands spin for the first time brought the biggest smile to my face. Watching the whole process over the months and seeing it be so close to being finished makes me both giddy with glee like a five year old and a tad bit sad, knowing that it will soon be finished. Keep up the fantastic work Chris!
I have been a machinist for around 10. your are a great craftsman. love ur videos my favorite bit is u make most ur own tools and ur problem solving due to working in a limited shop. good job I look forward to ur next video
Chris, I decided to comment only on the last vid in the series, as not to repeat myself umpteen times. And, although I am not given to randomly used superlatives... there is but one word in its place here. WOW ! Truly amazing work!!
when someone describes something as absolutely premium I use your videos and work as a baseline for it. because your work is incredibly premium. fantastic work.
There are few series where - without fail - if I see an episode in my inbox, I will drop whatever I'm doing and watch. This is one of them. I've used a lathe on only one occasion (at school about 20 years ago), and I have no knowledge of clocks at all (or at least I didn't before I started watching these), but I appreciate the quality of the craftsmanship here - in both the metalwork and video-making departments. Keep up the fine work, Chris!
I have never seen a video which emphasises the need of good quality, well kept, sharp hand files... One of the most under appreciated tools in anyone's inventory
This entire serial on making your own clock is probably the best made YT video on building something. Nice and precise builds, good narrating, good editing... Great! Keep building, and thanks for sharing.
I'm actually sad this series is approaching its end. I sincerely hope that you continue with another series after this one is complete. Thank you for sharing these with us.
+Kyle Jones I have an excellent follow up project in development now, will talk more about it as the time approaches. Very much appreciate your support Kyle :)
I got shivers seeing the hands come out and the final wheel crossings. When the clockwork started coming together, it actually literally took my breath away. This is genuine craftsmanship. Watching you work is a thing of beauty.
Chris, when you finaly finish this beautiful piece of horologie, please stick all these videos together and make one 2-3 hours documentary. It will be one of a kind. I would buy Blu-ray disc with such a movie! Not to mention it will be better than 99% of documentaries on TV. You have great talent not only in machining but in film industry also. Thank you for all happy moments I had with your videos!
Finally another video!! Feel free to make it an hour! I could watch this all day long! So amazing, you do such a great job, not only in your craftsmanship but also on cinematography!
Chris, the craftsmanship in your clock and the quality of your videos is jaw-dropping. An extraordinary achievement and a great gift to everyone. Well done and thank you.
yo chris.... i need more of your videos.... they are truly inspiring.... you are an amazing craftsman and very professional... i have watched every one of your videos multiple times and i will continue watching them. please do another project........
Every time I see this in my sub box I grab a drink sit outside and watch these videos. I'm so excited to see the finished product and what masterful craftsmanship he has put into this piece. Thank you for another excellent video.
Every time I come to watch a new episode I have the mentality that I'm just gonna be watching some decent machining. Yet I am blown away with every piece you make. Beautiful work.
The most professional video on u tube.Just the wright amount of commentary.Ive watched some engineering vids from America some are piss boring they just babble on and on.Oh and what a beautiful workshop.
Extraordinarily creative and beautiful, great delight to see for your own majestic work but also for giving an insight into the 18th-century machining brilliance of John Harrison who solved the longitude problem and had to do everything without electric motors.
such a nice video, I'll never have the patience to make a clock, nor do I have much interest in clocks. These videos are just so satisfying to anyone who appreciates shop tools and metal work
People with no machining experience or interest in machining take one look at this channel and are mesmerized! I'm so happy for you getting this close to the end!
This is just amazing, I just love your attention to detail. It is inspiring in a world of disposable rubbish to see someone working to such a high level.
Very pleased that you went for 5 spokes when crossing out the wheels... I'm all for prime numbers in wheel crossing... 3, 5, 7, 11... somehow much more aesthetic than even numbers. Nice video, up to your established professional standards.
Stunning video, the meticulous attention to the clock's creation is matched only by the quality of the video and the succinct presentation of a complex topic. Thank you.
once again Chris I'm blown away....the last few days have been stressful with interviews and phone calls for a new job and then you post a new video and just watching you create more perfect and beautiful machine work and all the stress melts away, I think once you have completed the whole series you should get it all edited together and release a DVD...would be a thing to treasure since we mere mortals could never own a piece of art like your clock! thanks mate!
I'm not really in to clocks, but Chris gives the term "Master Craftsman" new meaning. I over to see his work, he is an inspiration in my own hobbies! Thank you!
Beautiful clock. Just my sort of thing, nothing fancy and you can see all the working bits........one of the best series on youtube, your work is stunning Chris, I always get excited seeing a new episode and rewatch the others just because...... There's never too much or too little information, just the right balance. Great camera work and lighting plus it's never boring to watch......unmissable
61 dislikes??? People don't appreciate good craftsmanship and hard work anymore! Yeah he can't just blink his eyes and spit these out. Yeah it's not a CNC cutting this out. Good Old Quality craftsmanship with skill! Great job!
I'm liking the long form videos. Your clock looks to be coming together amazingly as well. Thank you for sharing your process with all of us. I know I at least have been finding all of this very interesting and quite entertaining. Keep up the good work and thanks again! :-)
I have to say as a machinist by training and by hobby, your craftsmanship and attention to detail is most admirable. This is the quality of product that I strive for as a machinist. What's more the videography and time spent on the videos shows how much you love what you're doing. I sincerely thank you for sharing your precious time and talents with the rest of us.
Woof. This takes me back. I've worked as a watch maker. I learned from my father who was an old school watch maker. Who in turn learned from his father. I still have some of my dads tools. It was very neat to see how you created the clock using the lathe and other tools.
Awesome work, Chris! I'm in the early stages of making my version of this clock and your videos are both inspiring and terrifying! With each new video you reveal additional operations that I've never attempted (or even heard of). I hope clocks are still in vogue if/when I finish mine.
@MacroMachines Haters are probably people who don't have any skills, or anything better to do. These videos are amazing with the level of craftsmanship he displays. I'd imagine that doing the work is almost therapeutic for him. Making something from scratch can have that effect.
At the moment I'm looking at this, its 54 downvotes, vs 11K upvotes, so.... fraction of a percent downvoted it. Yeah, there's always a tiny fringe who hate whatever particular thing exists I guess, but they're insignificant.
This makes me a little sad to think this series might be over soon! Every time i watch one of your videos I'm blown away with the attention to detail and craftmanship! Thanks for making these.
Excellent series, I get to learn a lot about fine finishing, and, also would like to learn some of your production and editing skills... ;) Thanks again for sharing, Pierre
I couldn't comment in all part of the project but this complicated hand work explains why the mechanic clock is expensive but i enjoyed every minute Thank you for sharing and these vides what makes youtube so much educating and fun
Chris it has been a pure pleasure to see your clock making series, your craftsmanship is out standing and I know i am not alone when i say we hope to see many new and future project's from you .
I work as a machinist for 16 years now, altho much MUCH bigger pieces from 400mm - nearly 2meter, just got home from work and just watching this is pure relaxation for me looking forward to the finished project, and future projects! :)
These videos remind me of the show 'How it's Made'. It's very much nostalgic, because the Discovery channel was my childhood
Truly one of the best content providers on all of You Tube.
+Poncho likes bacon Great to have your support mate, very much appreciated :)
+Poncho likes bacon This is the diary of a madman.
Mad as in perfection isn't good enough?
+Clickspring hope you don`t consider yourself as "content provider" man. beautiful work. really beautiful.
+Poncho likes bacon It's perfect! the machining is beautiful. The commentary is informative. The editing is superb. I watch soo many machining channels but chris offers THE best viewing angles. I dont think I could love this channel any more.
I won't lie - I shed a tear when I saw the hands spinning around. A year watching and waiting. It was beautiful, Chris.
+Joel Crawford I'm so pleased you're enjoying it Joel, I have to admit to being kind of emotional myself! I can tell you this clock is protected better than POTUS - I can't begin to tell you how careful I have become while handling this clock!
Well there's my 15 minutes of meditation. Thanks Chris! :)
I know, my only regret is that he can't update more! His videos are honestly gold.
I'm binge rewatching them. Urgh, I need more in my lifeeeeee!
I love your video's. I have no intention of making a clock, but you speak so calmly and you make beautiful stuff.
Terrific to have you watching :)
And I will keep doing that. I pressed that subscribe button a long time ago and I'm happy to have done so.
+Clickspring some of the shots were a little blue?
It seems easy but it isnt.. it gives a lot of work and patience
You are the only person with an Australian accent that I can listen to. My girl friend is from new Zealand and I'm used to hers, Australian just sounds weird and I end up focusing on nothing else. But with you. Your work speaks way louder.
Absolutely amazing! Watching those gears come together is like poetry. Great job Chris!
+TheChaosPsyke Thank you mate :)
It's bittersweet watching this finally come together! Like watching someone watch their kids go off to college.
Mindblowing work.
+Cesotoseot Still 5 more episodes before its off to college - Escapement, pendulum, stop work, winding key and another design modification that I'm building up the courage to attempt :)
Geez, I can't get over how gorgeous this clock is, and the moment you get to see everything working together after months of watching is purely satisfying.
you are something like bob ross among machinists. i don't know anything more peaceful than your videos about clock making
+gergorian Cheers mate! Still 5 more episodes to go on this one, and the next long term project is in development now, so plenty more to come :)

+Thomas Siekierski Cheers Thomas, very much appreciate your support :)
Fascinating! It’s hard believe people were doing this hundreds of years ago and without power tools and modern equipment.
Chris,
I decided to comment only on the last vid in the series, as not to repeat myself umpteen times.
And, although I am not given to randomly used superlatives... there is but one word in its place here.
WOW !
Truly amazing work!!
+gh778jk Thanks very much for tuning in mate, I appreciate it :)

Easily one of my favorite channels on TH-cam! Your videos are so very well shot, edited and narrated.
I have never seen a video which emphasises the need of good quality, well kept, sharp hand files... One of the most under appreciated tools in anyone's inventory
+Jack Clarke So true Jack, nothing feels quite so sweet as the cut of a new file :)
Very cool to see this piece rotating finally, keep up the great work.
This entire serial on making your own clock is probably the best made YT video on building something. Nice and precise builds, good narrating, good editing... Great! Keep building, and thanks for sharing.
Wow. Fantastic work you're doing, looking forward to the finished product. Also.. just watched all 16 episodes in one sitting. Very zen.

Shadowhurtz Don't we all! Hahaha
Troy Graham In all honesty, I download his videos, I subscribe to TH-cam Red. I'm going to need a bigger Micro SD Card. :-)
Hahaha, go get one then!

Between the craftsmanship, the videography, and the details here, I look very forward to each new video in the series!
Purely aesthetic holes with no tolerances needed whatsoever. *starts reaming*

Woof. This takes me back.
I've worked as a watch maker. I learned from my father who was an old school watch maker. Who in turn learned from his father. I still have some of my dads tools.
It was very neat to see how you created the clock using the lathe and other tools.
Amazing. Simply amazing.
This is just what I need to unwind after a long day. Thanks for making these Chris!
Ahhh, seeing it all come together is beautiful :')
I just realised how much I love geared mechanisms. They're just wonderful to look at!
Awesome work, Chris! I'm in the early stages of making my version of this clock and your videos are both inspiring and terrifying! With each new video you reveal additional operations that I've never attempted (or even heard of). I hope clocks are still in vogue if/when I finish mine.
+KenToonz Awesome Ken!
+Clickspring Out of curiosity, how long have you been doing metalwork? I started about 7 years ago.
+KenToonz Bought the red lathe in 2012 I think?
+Clickspring You've acquired all these tools and all these skills in 4 years??? Hell Chris! That's more impressive than the clock or your videos! :)
That's the most professional amateur work I've ever seen.
Inspiring.
Wow!! awesome work! beautiful result. enjoyed every part of it!

Terrific to have you watching mate :)
+Clickspring I wouldn't be anywhere else!
I’m going to speculate on the Haters. Liberals, they must be liberals. Think about it.
This makes me a little sad to think this series might be over soon! Every time i watch one of your videos I'm blown away with the attention to detail and craftmanship! Thanks for making these.

This series is so amazing. Every time I watch you turn parts it makes me mad that i didn't take the machining class in high school.
