Saw the movie today and I LOVE that they managed to keep two certain cameos as a secret for so long! I also started going, “Pooooooppieeeeeees” during that scene…and I also hummed Elmira Gultch’s theme when the bikes showed up xD
Honestly, I knew coming from a mile away that Stephen Schwartz, Idina Menzel, and Kristin Chenoweth will absolutely make a cameo (they wouldn't missed an opportunity to do it as they are extremely supportive of the movie) but being part of "One Short Day" musical number was not something I expected and I was the only one in a crowded IMAX theater that was giggling like a kid as they showed up 😅
What I spotted warning spoilers 1. Dorothy,Tin man,Cowardly Lion and the scarecrow(Fiyero's other form)can be seen in the beginning of the film. I think Ariana Grande's dog Toulese makes a cameo too. 2. Idina Menzel and Kirstin Chenworth made a cameo near the end of the film. 3. The map sorta resembles the map from Harry Potter and the Prisoner Of Azkaban. 4. Elphaba's true father's identity can be seen in the opening of the film (the wizard Oscar Diggs). 5. Dorothy's Og slippers can be seen as well as her red shoes.
I think this is an example of a good Part 1 because while it definitely ends with a cliffhanger, it's still a movie that managed to stand on it's own in building it's conflict with an extended climax on Defying Gravity that worked so well
I saw this movie twice, second viewing in IMAX. I can tell you that the movie is a much improvement viewing after I saw it second time and I absolutely didn't feel the long runtime meaning that the pacing was actually much better than I thought first time around. I only check my watch once in the second viewing and was shocked to know that the movie was already 2 hours in. I guess it's because I slowly get used by the song with hearing the soundtrack before watching the movie second time, it gets so much better
The easter egg for me is the genius callback. One episode of Victorious has ariana grande as cat valentine plays dorothy in the girls bathroom wizard of oz in episode April Fools Blank. Now wicked a wizard of oz film has grande stars in it
I just watched it today! I loved it! I also noticed the Ruby Slippers that was obvious so was seeing Dorothy. Also it was annoying to keep hearing For Good. Seeing the originals made me jump in joy!
I've seen this 2x (already) and this one really stood out to me but hard to find online. In the intro scene into Shiz and the introduction of Miss Coddle there is the start of the build up feud between Elphaba, Miss Coddle and Nessarose in which Miss Coddle states, "Well, isn't this an awkward Gulch" (or something to that nature) but I definitely caught the Gulch word and the association to the Gayle family neighbor Miss Gulch in the MGM Wizard of Oz.
This is exactly how a movie musical adaptation should be done. Not going to lie for the 40th anniversary of The Phantom of the Opera I say this director should make a new movie adaptation of Phantom or its sequel Love Never Dies. I think the visuals achieved would translate well to Andrew Lloyd Webber's work with the masked man.
Have watched in Imax, 3D, and standard (2d) and they are all "great" but Imax was the "swankiest". I was in tears at the Ozdust Ballroom when the two dance. Forgiveness and redemption are powerful story arcs and Jon Chu did it without either of them (Glinda and Elphaba) saying a word. He is Definity up for best director.
Big spoiler for part 2- at the very beginning after the melting scene and the flying monkeys are flying away, under the castle on a bridge there is a horse (most likely fiyero’s horse)running away with someone wearing a cloak riding it… if you know u know…🧙
I still have yet to see this, I really WANT to see it soon, I've been a pretty big Wizard Of Oz fan quite for sometime now I really love the song Defying Gravity ❤
The animals being silenced, having past history erased and having jobs taken kind mirrored how people with certain opinions have been treated by people online & in reality for the last 4-8 years.
Parts of the book are thrown into the movies. This is why the director wanted to make the movies into two parts, so the material wasn’t all smashed together. And after seeing Part 1, this was a smart choice! Nothing felt rushed.
evil seems to be quite popular and in demand at the moment. People raise up evil and proclaim it wonderfully good. Vanity and greed will never go out of fashion- you just have to pretend you aren't evil to satisfy your needs at the expense of so many others
I suggest watching the production or the movie before making statements like this. The whole point is that the witch WAS good, but painted as a villain and silenced for political reasons
Glinda also taps the red shoes three times in the air, which is obviously a reference 🎉

Loved this film. Everyone clapped at the end. I would recommend watching it
Almost makes it all the more sad in the wizard of oz especially since they kinda hate each other and stuff
I saw it I’d see it again and then and then part2
Props to whoever that cast Cynthia and Ariana. They were born to play Elphaba and Galinda.
I loved this movie, and wish that I could watch it for the first time again. The nods to the original story were amazing.
I see your comments on everything musical theater I watch lol
@@MoonLeaf3546Great minds certainly think alike, right?! Musical theatre is just one of my many passions. 😉

Fun fast: Jonathan Bailey’s horse in the film is the same horse he rides in Bridgerton

What callback?
I loved that episode
@@quinnhouk5369 a callback to a victorious ep April fools blank where Ariana aka cat Valentine does a wizard of oz skit
@@leonardolim8976 I know. Wait…are you talking about the whole movie itself? Cause you said the Easter egg itself is a genius callback

blackface is not okay but WHITEFACE IS OKAY HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. wicked cash in
Ok, Now I want to see the movie. All because of this video 😊
Saw that movie today, loved it
What about the font of the title and end card? It was the same font as The Wizard of Oz. I admit I cried when I saw it.
I was just going to say this!
I wondered if anyone else noticed.

Fyero’s horse talking was also in the books
New fan… MOVIE WAS AMAZING BTW 🥳🥳 I’m definitely going to see it again “to be Pop youuuu lerrr, lar”
Fiyero stepped on a red book that was the wizard of oz in the dancing through life!
The title font!!!
Ms mojo is the best
I might go see that movie with my siblings!
Awesome Wicked movie!
I still have yet to see this, I really WANT to see it soon, I've been a pretty big Wizard Of Oz fan quite for sometime now I really love the song Defying Gravity ❤
As a life long Wizard of Oz fan, you should see it. It’s such an amazing film.
I give you the Oz of tomorrow 😂
Voice sounds exactly like the person who played the Broadway version of wicked
I liked Bowen Yang’s shoutout to All That Jazz from Chicago when getting ready to go to the Ozdust Ballroom, he says he’s gonna “rouge his knees”!
I love you’re vids❤
As a lifelong Oz geek, I’m going to see this tomorrow and I genuinely don’t think I’m ready
Everything I had hoped for the adaptation! I caught all the Easter Eggs😊. Looked for more on my second viewing
Happy saturday afternoon, Emily, take care and God bless you. Greetings from Colombia to you as well.
The silver heels are so cute and pretty ❤
I gotta say.... is Glinda now, the "ga" is silent. 🤷🏼♀️
The animals being silenced, having past history erased and having jobs taken kind mirrored how people with certain opinions have been treated by people online & in reality for the last 4-8 years.
I was thinking along the lines of The Holocaust and Jews in Germany
This film needed Easter eggs galore
I can't wait for part 2, definitely well watched it again in theaters.
Don't forget the musical quotations/nods to Wizard of Oz in various points in the film!
Cool
I have a suggestion for video a few suggestions, cartoon characters, that kind of sound the same
It this part of the book series?

Nice way to ruin an original movie...what's next, make evil good? 😢
Wicked and The wizard of oz are totally different movies. with two totally different themes
