Tbh i am genuinely not surprised that things were like this back in the 1930s but i definitely wish that people could've just hired crazy acrobats in movies so that so many people wouldn't have to be on the brink of death
Yeah it's crazy! with the use of the toxic makeup, the dangers were already known at that time. But they put the actors through it because it would look better for the film
The acrobats wouldn’t be safe either the actual set was doomed 😂 broomsticks exploding wires snapping fire exploding into peoples face now acrobatic Firefighter makes alot more sense
A munchkin did they hung themselves if you search up the munkin hanging the wizard of oz there’s videos were you can see it in the background this black rocking body because it was so tramumatising.
My favorite bit of movie lore is the synchronicity between Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side of the Moon and The Wizard of Oz, a psychedelic coincidence for recreational drug users in the 70’s. My least favorite Wizard of Oz fact is the paradox that 14-year-olds in Iowa can legally drive, buy Galaxy gas, sip synthetic lean, work at a slaughterhouse, yet cannot check out the book Wicked from their high school library due to book bans and censorship. A really great video for sure and The Wizard of Oz is a stark reminder of the exploitative nature of the Hollywood system.

Recently, I was watching Wizard of Oz-related content on TH-cam, and I came upon this video, hence found your channel for the first time. It watched it and reacted so hard when I learned a lot more things from it, and I was quite appalled with much trauma that all the cast members went through in making this *cursed* classic. It can't imagine how much of a fiasco that production had created. Still, since this movie was made during the earliest generation of filmmaking, all studios could learn a lot from their mistakes. And even though performing on set will always be dangerous in general, especially for stunt doubles, the advancements of filmmaking, technology, and safety mechanisms will surely lessen the more risks in productions. Therefore, it's always worth sharing about what was discussed in this video as it serves as a "PSA" to viewers that "the grass is not always greener on the other side." Like the saying goes, "we'll never know what others are going through." Still, I really love this video as it shows that you put a lot of work and research towards producing this video. I also enjoy the style and your expressions for these types of informative as it certainly captures the viewers' attention when you're speaking in front of the microphone. I'm honestly glad MGM went into debt and had to sell the majority of the MGM movie library, including the Wizard of Oz, to pay them off. It's been owned by Turner then subsequently Warner Bros since the late 80's, so they personally never made money from the film from that point on. They missed out on all the money from streaming, DVD and Blu ray sales, as well as some VHS purchases. And Amazon, who owns what's left of MGM (including all the Bond films), won't be getting much of a sales boost as much as WB, thanks to the current Wicked hype.
Check your resources. The Wizard Of Oz was shot with many Jewish people involved while the Nazi Regime was on it´s hight. Do anti-semitic theories ring a bell for you..?
yeah the tornado scene had a dark history as well, some of the cast members on set that day who were filming and recording reported coughing up black stuff and lots of thick mucus for days on end afterwards. it was due to the all that dust they used for the effects.
I live in England and when I was in primary school I used to have to read a story called "The Cyclone". it was about a girl and her family (her Uncle Henry and Aunt Em). A cyclone was going towards her house so they all went into a cellar - a cyclone cellar, but dorothy didn't make it. she was swept away with the house and thats when she landed in Oz. however the story didn't even mention that, nor did it mention it was a part of the Wizard of Oz, I only found out when I was about 10-ish that it was actually connected since that was when I first watched the Wizard of Oz. People also call what lifted the house into the air it a "Tornado" but it was actually a Cyclone.
