    I would like to see more of these tests done with slower club head speeds. Between 90 and 95 mph where most of us are at to help us choose which ball reacts better for us.

      There's a myth perpetuated by marketing and it's that there are golf balls that "fit" swing speeds better. You would get the same results directionally, it wouldn't matter. Balls that spin the most with the fastest swing speed also spin the most with the slowest, etc etc.

      @@christophersiegert8343 this is objectively untrue. Give a high speed player a low compression ball and it will not perform at all.

    Hi! When I play pitch and putt (50-120yards) sometimes the ball land on the green but go out due to the backspin.
    Taking into account that there are no driver shots, the tee is from an artificial mat and the ball “always” land on the soft green… what ball do you recommend for wedge shots with the least backspin?
    Thank you very much for your time

    How much does the quality of Matty’s strike impact these results? For higher handicaps whose strike moves around quite a bit and swing slower can they really expect the same variances?

    • @golfguy1406
      @golfguy1406 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, a higher handicap player cannot expect the same variances. The performance of the golf ball is predicated on the club face being delivered in optimal conditions. TXG (love them) did a video some time ago about the benefits of using a premium golf ball even as a high handicap player, and if I remember correctly the resounding consensus from the comments was that the increased performance did not offset the potentially lost money from losing balls in trees, ponds, etc. I did not switch into a premium ball until I was a low single digit handicap precisely because of your question; with my strike pattern being all over the club face, the tight variances in performance of a premium golf ball (or any ball really) were completely moot because I could not present the club face consistently.

    • @legend9018
      @legend9018 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@golfguy1406 it’s a good point. I think the benefit to a premium ball lies more in the quality of the construction and the consistency in the performance you get. Putting a good swing on a cheap or poorly constructed ball (not that you can tell) can produce a result that could make you question your swing. I think manufacturers have gotten better and mygolfspy testing has helped that as well. Thanks for your input

    This is brilliant! The 2021 My golf spy ball test provided ball options for my mid speed swing so I tested them all. Snell mtb-x, prov1, Bridgestone tour b x, Snell mtb black, Srixon Z star xv, prov1 left dash. I have the swing caddy sc300i which is pretty accurate…..accurate enough I suppose. The Snell MTB-x was the lowest spinning, best performing ball through my bag…….so for now that’s my ball. I had been playing the Snell mtb black thinking it suited my game perfectly…….I was losing 11 yards off the tee and spinning the ball off the green. Feels great to tee it up knowing I’m hitting the right ball!

I was surprised to see the Staff keeping up in terms of distance (only real difference was with 50yrd shot) despite being high spin. It seems to me that the explanation is higher ball speed, right? It would be interesting to see how two very times balls (left dash and staff) compare across the bag. Thanks again! • @patrickdabs
      @patrickdabs 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@shiversbasketball if you’re compressing a softer ball too much(swinging too fast for the compression rating), you’ll get more spin from a firmer ball since you aren’t taking the gear affect off the ball as much when you’re squishing the ball onto the face for longer. If you cannot properly compress a firm ball, the results will change and the spin numbers will look vastly different from player to player.

    • @EaglesXsandOs
      @EaglesXsandOs 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@patrickdabs How much compression are you quantifying as "too much?" Are you also implying that 95 compression could be perfect for someone's 8- iron, but that same person would over-compress their 4-iron, because of the additional speed? To go from elastic compression to plastic deformation (over-compressing the golf ball), you would likely need to swing in excess of 300 MPH.

This way we know if we really will see some inconsistencies with an old proV1 vs out-of-the-box. I don't see a difference personally with the rounds I play the same ball multiple times. If there is a difference, I might change out or even clean my ball more consistenly.

    Which ball should I go to if I need to drop 1000rpm spin from proV1?

    100% understand about using the adjustability of drivers, but roughly what % of golfers are fine with the face angle this produces in your experience? Thx. Great review as always both of you💪👍

      Ideally the face angle would be irrelevant because you'd square the face up to the target at address, you wouldnt just let it sit open or closed

    If you spin the ball alot with your irons. Is there a big difference between a Chrome Soft vs a Pro V1

      depends on who i would guess. chrome regular soft dips right out of the sky for me. but spin tons for my wife. which i guess is all about swing tec and speed

    So do the softer golf balls have the higher or lower compression number? This has always confused me...

    Do you fit your clubs to a ball, or a ball to your clubs?
