If they'd started out with a Ford engine, they wouldn't have needed the alcohol, the supercharger, the expensive cylinder heads and cam, etc. The only reason that these performance components were designed in the first place, was so that GM and Mopar enthusiasts would have a "chance" of making as much power as a stock, naturally aspirated Ford small block! (😉👍)
I’m pretty close to 1,400hp on my GM aftermarket block. Pretty surprised. I’ll definitely be going dart or brodix soon when I go procharger. On a plate system now.
Depends on what the car is used for, if it's a show car and you want to hear the iconic blower surge then I could make the barrel valve fatter and it would go into a rich lean cycle and hunt for an idle speed. But it's very hard to stage a blower car with it hunting. It idles at about 2100 rpm and is alot easier to stage.
I don't understand the tradition of feeling to be sure exhaust is coming out of the headers. If it's running it's coming out. And I doubt you could tell if a cylinders down because there's 3 other ones blowing too. Unless you could feel the wet fuel from the dead hole.
You got it , if a cylinder is down and blowing unburned fuel your hand will be wet with alcohol. Zoomies make this much easier to spot, which is on the list of things to do to this car.
Once you get use to the feel of firing on all 8, You can then tell one cylinder has dropped because the "blow" becomes intermittent. Kinda hard to get a wet reading unless you're running "nuclear" pumps [figuratively] or as someone mentioned earlier "Zoomies".
Feeling to make sure all cylinders are firing. If one isn't, you'll get some moisture on your hands. One day when we get zoomies, it'll be easier to tell if one isn't firing correctly.

Who says I'm going to put a big blower on it and the pully is going to be just as big? Nobody cool lol. Gotta get a smaller pully and zoomies. @@HeavyDKC1 the way I look at it is...zoomies are not REQUIRED to be on the car in order for it to fire up. They are a want, not a need. We put money into parts that are NEEDED for the car to function and perform how we want. The Nova is our only racecar. The Camaro is our street car. Sure, we could've waited on building the motor for the Camaro and used that money to purchase zoomies. But after pouring any extra funds we could into building our racecar (which took us 2 years to build), we decided we were tired of watching the Camaro sit in the driveway and rot. So since the Nova was at a point where it was running and performing well, we decided to put our focus on building a motor for our Camaro. We actually have a bigger block that will become our new racecar motor when the time comes so maybe we will wait until then to get zoomies 🤷♀️. And it's not like we just purchased our Camaro, we've had that car for 8 years now 😂
At the current blower drive ratio which is now 1 to 1(3 pulley changes since this video) this little motor is at 15 psi ,putting the car into the 4.xx et zone. This is the goal I had for this motor. It will go faster with more boost and timing for sure, but it may not last long due to it being a steel rod gm truck block with iron caps. Once the aluminum Rod dart block motor is together I'll put a skateboard wheel on the blower and try to leave the atmosphere. Keeping the current motor on a leash just gives me more time in the seat and on the keyboard. The blown alcohol world is extremely expensive for a small team. We will get there, having fun along the way.😏

Definitely needs an idle adjustment....looks like alignment is out, could be the camera.....but, sounds good overall....

Trust me, if we had unlimited funds (or even a sponsor) this car would've had zoomies a long time ago. Hopefully next year we can make that happen.
