The input was there to save it, just not enough weight and grip on the skinnys up front. As soon as it launched, it put the front to the left. With a properly glued track, that would have been salvageable. Like riding your bicycle as a kid, in heavy pea gravel.
There's a reason that we abandoned that engine in the front design on a rail. And theres the reason. They are squirrely as shit. Thank god you wernt hurt and thank god you didn't whole sale that old girl.
Fact, front engine rails handle much the same as rear engined. Rear engines however are far safer in that the fire does not immediatly burn the driver. And the drive train does NOT try and kill the driver. Though funny cars are still front engin and that does not seem to happen any more. Dragsters though seem to break in half when under acceleration. And then we hear how safe they are!!! when failing do what they are intended to do.
Looks like the car was out of the groove at the line.
Also, groove…

Wow way out in the marbles
Thank you for naming the video appropriately.
Happened in a Split second glad Driver was ok
That was very unfortunate, hope the chassis is fixable.
Wishing you all the best with the repairs….

Why hang on to it when you are so far out of the groove?
Get out of it and save it!

@@popsfereal I guess common sense isn’t that common with you!
Sorry man, you'll have that, glad you weren't hurt.
The tires where rolling backwards while the transmission was in a forward gear. When those tires locked up the transmission made a bad noise.
I don’t understand, I watched it a bunch of times but never see the tires rolling backwards?👍
That sucks !!!!!
