    Gossard casts a pretty long shadow across the history of grunge and the music scene in Seattle. He was instrumental in the creation of some seminal grunge albums (TOTD, Apple, Ten). He's also done some excellent side projects like Brad with Regan Hagar and was the man who produced the single Malfunkshun album featuring the late Andy Wood.

      I’m surprised Regan didn’t end up in Pearl Jam or another big band. I mean PJ went through 5 or 6 drummers over the years and a lot of it is picking someone who fits in with the band and seems like everyone on the scene was cool with him

      Stone looked so cool during the yield tour
      I feel like the ticketmaster idea was from Stone he seemed to be the most passionate about it
      His court testimony especially
      People forget that even in the 10 movie Stone clearly states that " in the beginning it was Jeff n stone running the band " and then " now ..ed runs the band"
      Anyone can listen to mother love bone and then Ed's solo material and then compare to the 10 album
      Ten was Jeff and Stones heart n soul in that music ed was writing but those Jeff n Stone riffs are what shaped this band
      I'm all for the band evolving but it's clear ed is running the bands direction
      I just feel that the current high tax prices are reflective of ed choosing that
      I think ed got divorced ? It costs these guys $to live just like it costs me $ being homeless
      I just wish it was affordable for a guy like me on a miniscule budget to follow the band on tour
      I'd be doing that rn if I didn't live off roughly $130 a week lol

    Pearl Jam died in the ass when Eddie began playing guitar. The music quality went down when he stopped focusing on the singing and lyrics and more on the music. They had it covered without him.

      I get what the OP is saying. I’ve also long believed the band lost the plot when they ceded creative control to their singer. And, when Irons left.

    • @leinonibishop9480
      @leinonibishop9480 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      They always said from the beginning that they wanted to explore new music and grow and didn’t want to be stuck in the same sound or style forever. Maybe we just never understood the plot.

    • @timmatthews1604

      I can tell you’re a triggered fan. But, Ament and Gossard have both been quoted as saying their singer essentially is in the drivers seat and the rest of the band is following his lead. That’s a full 180 degrees different from how Yield was created. Note how they’ve not done anything even remotely as solid as that since.

    • @leinonibishop9480
      @leinonibishop9480 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Fakename70 Eddie became the defacto leader during vitalogy, well before yield was even a concept. He also is the reason Jack irons was brought in as a drummer for yield. So your theory that he screwed up their music after he ‘took control’ is just silly. In fact, according to Jeff, Eddie asked them all to write and contribute more songs after no code, which is why yield and the albums after each have 3 or 4 songs written by each of them. Have you not seen any of their documentaries? Wikipedia lists all their songs by album and who wrote the lyrics and music for each one. You might be surprised how much of the music is not written by Eddie.

    I liked him better back then. As a matter of fact, I liked all of them better back then. Funny how much their merch costs, and especially since they are sellouts and do things like sell holiday themed t-shirts, etc. Hell, they even went so far as to sell a Cinco de Mayo shirt. And, the t-shirts aren't cheap.
