Hey there Shawn. Funny. I was just listening to Puppy's The Perpetual E last week. I really liked their early releases. You definitely know and appreciate the Gothic years. Your collection has no boundaries. Well done S~

I never went to deep into goth. But it was definitely something we experienced through the clubs. Those were great times. Going to raves and parties in old abandoned factories or late nights in the vampire bars. All the great music and all those pretty girls. Lol. Cheers!

Great video! Slash from GnR had a t-shirt with Skinny Puppy once. However, it turned out that he didn't know anything about the band. It was just a t-shirt he borrowed from a girl he spent the night with. haha!

@@vinylstockholm I’m surprised Slash didn’t know Skinny Puppy. But he doesn’t really seem like a record collector. I saw shinny puppy in concert, incredible performance. Very confrontational and the band was fairly political.

Hey…. I was listened Stunty’s stream today and heard he mentioned us. I thought that was nice. He knows we enjoy and respect our conversations and banter about music and politics. I was so disappointed to miss the stream on Friday but my son was leaving for college on Saturday morning so we had to get him ready and do dinner. Was a big day. Btw - my son is going to make the same mistake I did and get a political science degree. Lol. But he’s a good kid. A good man and we can always use more good men. Be well. Shawn.

Love those Sisters of Mercy albums. Magazine also really good.
Seventeen Seconds is my favorite the Cure album alongside Disintigration. Faith ain’t shabby either 😊

@@MortenAastad The very best of Sister of Mercy were the early singles that can be found on the compilation Some Girls Wander By Mistake. And Magazine is just brilliant. Their first album is one of the best post-punk albums I’ve ever heard.

Specimen, Skinny Puppy & Kiss Kiss Bang Bang I know but don't have anything by or know a lot about. I do have some Bauhaus, Sisters Mercy, early Cure, Christian Death, etc. Some Girls Wander By Mistake even though it's a comp is probably my fav SOM. Nice overview

Hey Ben. Hope you are well. The Some Girls Wander is a great comp. I’ve had it on CD. Those singles are the Sister of Mercy’s best songs. They were still a real band at that point. Specimen was a great band and one I think you would enjoy. Their doom-punk hybrid is worth further investigation. Cheers! Shawn.

An American short perspective on an important cultural movement.
We the Europeans ask where, for example, the Virgin Prunes (if i die, i die) or, the Siouxie and the Banshees (Juju) stayed...

Both are excellent, of course. Goth is a funny term in a certain respect. We’re the banshees of goth band? They certainly have goth vibes. So did the Cocteau Twins and the Jesus and Mary Chain and the Cramps. All bands we could mention. Even my all-time favorite band, Pere Ubu flirted with goth.

I’d be interested to know who you saw live, Richie. You’ve seen some cool bands in their prime. Gun Club, Peter Murphy, Sister of Mercy and Skinny Puppy were probably the goth bands I remember seeing. All in small theaters in Detroit. Cheers.

@@vinylrichie007 Specimen!45 Grave! Very cool. Living in Detroit we just didn’t get the chance to see many of those bands. Oh…I did see the Cure in 85/86 when they were still considered a goth band. But I was only a kid. I remember the entire stage covered with smoke. To the point where you couldn’t see any band members because the dry-ice machine had broken. Lol. Just these eerie shadows moving through across the stage. Was still a good show for a 14/15 year old.

@@the-vinyl-dreamscape5084 I saw the Cure once. I don’t remember the year. They played at the Forum. It was set up like a 3 ring circus.
