They've always kind reminded me more so of fugazi and drive like jehu

This is live version is a bit messy in how it’s played and recorded of course compared to original, but I’m sure I’d being there live would be awesome haha, this is totally the kind of band that you’d wanna see live because they actually do rock unlike a lot of bands (that hardcore element is alive and well with them).

The most energetic heroin addicts I’ve ever seen (they’re clean now and have been for about 20 years or so, but this was from when they were really getting into their junkie phase). But I’m sure they also did plenty of uppers, so that’s probably where all the energy came from.

It's high energy for sure. Thanks for commenting.

sparta is also really good. jim ward and other at the drive-in members who didn't join mars volta created the more emotional and aggressive sparta as opposed to the experimental and ominous mars volta. "cut your ribbon" is an amazing song, from the album "wiretap scars", released in 2002. do check it out! it's pretty cool

In this react video you said you always liked Hardcore(certain brands of it). So I'd love to hear your reaction to "La Dispute - Edward Benz, 27 Times - Audiotree Live" (here's the link if that's easier: th-cam.com/video/qPiu1KRTFLM/w-d-xo.html ). The best way to describe them is kind of like...Post-Hardcore meets spoken-word/slam-poetry. I highly suggest having the lyrics up too because the lyrics are fantastic. It's based on a true story from when the lead singer worked at a hardware store, an older gentlemen comes in asks for help fixing his door, then proceeds to tell him the story behind the door. Don't want to spoil too much, it's interesting to say the least. The whole Audiotree live session of this album is great, but this is the song that, in my opinion, really stands out the most.

Hey from the UK. Love watching your reaction videos, can I please recommend one for you, the band is The Blood Brothers and the song is "Set fire to the face of fire", there's a great live video of it on TH-cam from the Henry Rollins Show, I would love to see what you think of it, very chaotic noise post hardcore punk rock.

OK, I've added this to my spreadsheet for a future poll. Stay tuned NMM.

Can you listen to "The Hol[]y Tape" By The Fall of Troy. They're a Progressive Math rock Post-Hardcore band that was very influenced by the Mars Volta and A The Drive In. It would be awesome to see your opinion on it!

Greetings from Australia, this is not the ideal performance, I think there was a Conan/Letterman/Leno version that was cleaner. Cheers.

The Letterman version was the best-sounding one, if I remember correctly. The Conan one was lots of fun to watch, with Cedric ping-ponging all over the stage, repelling off the walls and whatnot, but he was so out of breath from all his acrobatics that he could barely sing at points.

Their "popular" songs are honestly the worst ones.
And this guitar is straight up bad on purpose in this live version.

The energy, though, is insane. These guys are fun to watch.
