Relationship of command was my soundtrack for the new millennium. Great album.
Yoo this album was insane - haven't listed to it years so i fired it up and of course one armed scissor comes to mind, but HOLY FUCK - there are so many bangers on this album!
also in/casino/out and vaya ep. that shit is JAMMIN.
There's a lot of music from those days that I can't stand as an adult, but ATDI holds up soooo well.

The album sold well in 2000 and was in a lot of best of lists in magazines. The album was mixed to sound quite raw and almost live
They did record it mostly live and without a click track. If you isolate the drums you can hear the vocals coming through the mics. Rick Beato did a great rundown on this track.

besides Fugazi and Refused, ATDI were one of the best Post-Hardcore bands. They definitely led me to a lot of Technical Hardcore and a bit of light Mathcore. They have a technical edge that is fantastic.
the mars volta took all of that with them lol. no knock to sparta. but they're crazy chill compared lol
These guys are from my hometown of El Paso Texas so thanks for the shout out. Actually, the lead singer Cedric went to my high school (not at the same time). I'm not a super fan of them or anything but I always think that's pretty cool.

One of the most innovative rock band in the last 25 years. Incredible stage presence. Two outstanding bands out of them: Sparta & Mars Volta. Not bad for a bunch of guys from El Paso.
Relationship of Command album by them is amazing. They broke up and members formed The Mars Volta and Sparta. They reformed and toured and I was lucky enough to see them. Great musicians and if you read up on them they are active in many causes.

everything indeed does look so natural in their performance and mannerisms. and when you listen to the song it makes you wana go crazy and do weird movements that are your own thing!

Believe the leader singer went on to become Mars Volta and some other members made a band called Sparta.
One armed scissor means half a scissor the song is about suicide and the one armed scissor part is what he uses to slit his wrists

They did get back together. Can't believe no one here's so much as mentioned it!! It's called "in●ter a●li●a" (yes, that is spelled right lol). It was put out in 2017! Fantastic album too!!
When this band split up the bands Sparta and Mars Volta were created by the ex members.

There shows are pretty amazing. When they disbanded and one half became the Mars Volta and the other was Sparta. At The Drive in reunited not to long ago and made a album but being older the energy was not the same. Still very good though. You guys should check out The Mars Volta - Inertiatic

Idk how many times I've heard from bands, "at the drive in is the band's band..." Along with, "their live show is the greatest performance you'll ever see..." I'm talking bands the world over have fought to see these guys live... They split into Sparta (more alternative) and The Mars Volta (more experimental) which you guys should know... They are insanely talented

At the drive in is literally my favorite band....I dont know what happened to them (they probably grew up) but interalia isnt at the drive in ...its just not ...its like they lost that energy or angst. But it's not the same. THIS ALBUM IS THE BEST
They became The Mars Volta, which are more experimental/proggy.... they are still good...

They’re kind of still together. Just flying under a different flag with a different drummer and bass player. Their new band is called The Mars Volta. There is word of a possible at the drive-in reunion right now though. So stay tuned.
Mars volta broke up 8 years ago, John Theodore left, Jeremy Ward and Ikey died, and the band is a dead project. They broke up on twitter and their last three albums were not that good.
This information is hilariously out of date. Not only did Mars Volta break up years ago, but ATDI actually did reunite and recorded a new album back in 2017.
@@flightgravity7483 those comments made me cringe way too much. ATDI even released a few songs in 2018. Besides, I personally don't think The Mars Volta had a bad album.

But that can be a word form for a visual promotion or intellectual projection.
So...doesn't have to mean what we think...if he uses it for another meaning.
If a scissor has one arm it doesn't cut hair.

It's nic. They're enjoyable.
I didn't like it at first at all. This is what I heard. But as the album progressed I caught on and I just happened to be in the car with some cool people so it was alright.
Then one of them had a vinyl single of the Mars Volta and my morning jacket..I hadn't heard either...
And that started years of listening to thier music everyday.
I really like thier music.
But..I also do enjoy time off from it as well and no..I am in no way affiliated with this band or any of their members. Except that I'm invisible and they are too. I think it's the watermelon. Seeds is a bad sign. Don't eat that!

I played the fuck out of this record when it came out. Unfortunately their live shows were an absolute mess. Great energy but at the cost of playing the songs well. Omar was the worst offender.
This song is about a helicopter in the Vietnam war. One Armed Scissor is the war machine.
