A lot of people, young and old, think the old music is better than the new music...but I'm not so sure. I am retired in Mexico and will explore songs from the 21st century.

What do you mean speed version?
Could you pop the name/album/etc. in the description? I've seen Nick Cave on the Abattoir/Lyre tour - with the gospel ladies on stage too - you've seen the dvd, it's a stunner. Personally, I'd go Waits/Cave/Walker as my unholy triumvirate of artists, the next 100 depend largely on mood 🤣🤣🤣 I have a feeling Cave's played a few dates in Latin America on the past few tours (worth it) + he used to live in Brazil in his wilder years. Worth checking out the stuff w/Warren Ellis + some stunning soundtracks. His book ...And the Ass Saw the Angel is a visceral read, highly recommend. I'm a huge fanboy and the new album was pretty much instant playlist for me.
Never seen you or this channel before, but this was an excellent review and an excellent video. Dropping a like
Awesome. Hope you'll consider subscribing.
Patrick Flegel is the most important independent artist of this gen.
He is getting a lot of views for sure. Someday I will listen to the rest of the album...but on camera.
@@wallbangerreactions Been a fan of Pat's stuff for a long time. Game changer, people are just starting to notice. Props to you!
Found your channel from the Godspeed You! Black Emperor video. You've put me on to a lot of good music, thank you! The playlist's great by the way.
This means a lot to me. This series isn't getting a ton of views, but if a couple people like yourself are digging it (as my generation used to say), then I'm encouraged. Thanks Kirbus.
If you want to see another artist comparebale to Molina, check out ELLIOTT SMITH! Tragic life. Genius songwriter....
I have two of his CDs: Basement on a Hill and New Moon. I think we had XO and Figure 8 as well during my marriage. I believe we split the collection. Great suggestion though.
phenomenal song and performance
Agreed.
Haha! Glad you enjoyed it, sir! Thank you very much for the feature! 💀🖤
De nada.
I saw them live once, it would've been their Afterburner tour...first time I heard their music was through a friend who had a Best of ZZ Top CD which had all bluesier songs, some of which you mentioned...I remember reading that Billy Gibbons was one of Jimi Hendrix's favorite guitarists
I trust you enjoyed their live show. Thanks for watching.
Crazy that TH-cam didn’t recommend this for me - please, listen to the entire deluxe album
Damn algorithms. LOL.
Wire is still active? wow.... I love Pink Flag, Chairs Missing, 154.. But also, A Bell is a Cup, IBTABA are good. I haven' heard anything else after that though.
I've got a playlist link in the notes if you're interested.
I'm really into all manners or Alt Rock, Noise Rock, Hardcore Punk etc as far as the noisy and abrasive goes. But somehow Songs Ohia's/Jason Molina's work is on the top, it speaks to me on such a deep level. I don't usually care that much about lyrics but anything Molina the lyrics are already front and center.
If you haven't watched my Magnolia Electric Co. reactions, that's where I really got on board with Molina....probably because it was not my first time.
Check out their other letterman performance its the best one ever in my opinion to me
OK, I watched it and it smokes. Thanks for turning me on to this version.
@@wallbangerreactions OFC man my pleasure thanks for checking the vid out
@@wallbangerreactions They have a couple there the one I was talking about was the oldest one it should be the lore 2006 I believe back before their bass player passed unfortunately
You might want to listen Kénôse EP by them. It's a 3 track record and probably their magnum opus and best drumming I have ever heard.
Thanks for the recommendation.
you seem really cool man, just got yourself a new sub! :)
Welcome to the channel.
twigs and arca worked together on her fir album LP1 their music styles merge so welll
Didn't know that.
Some of the background singing (someone described it as an Orca) is by Eartheater, and her and Arca and Björk and Twigs (and e.g. Rosalia) all work in similar circles/are friends/eachothers producers, it makes so much sense for them to sound so similar
he is not ready for all that lmao
Good info. Thanks.
great video as always, this is music video of the year for me. i’m curious to know your thoughts on magdalena bay!! i hope youll consider their newer songs such as Death & Romance, Tunnel Vision & Angel On A Satellite. Any pick off their latest, Imaginal Disk, is a great choice though!
I've added that to my spreadsheet for a future community poll.
Dischordant, too many effects, can't hear the vocals. Awful. Great bass line. Check out Space Engineer, To Be Loved, Lost in time, Coming Down....if you feel like it...
Nice honest review. Appreciate the suggestions.

good analysis! she was indeed inspired by European techno / rave music for this one, and the video has visuals no one has ever done before

@@wallbangerreactionsher fans 😂 its an endearing thing to say
great video sir
Gracias.
Damn tasty!
Agreed.
One of the greatest LIVE releases of all time surely this whole concert. Mind blowing from start to finish. The song is about suicide of course. The whole theme of the album is so dark.
This was the last song he did in concert prior to the encore. It was my favorite of the night. The Chapman Stick was intense.
@@wallbangerreactions I have the full DVD of the 2018 show and it is in its entirety phenominal. Hard to pick a favourite: Ancestral, Song of I, Vermillion Core, The Raven, soooo many. I dont believe I have seen anyone do a Review on Song of I so perhaps that could be your next one? Talk about drama!!! Keep up the great work with more SW and Porcupine Tree!
@wallbangerreactions I hope you had a chance to check out the rest of this amazing album. Just Be Simple is an amazing track and illustrates Molina's tendency to keep songs, warts and all, in the original take
Thanks so much for the great reaction! I'm really glad you ended up enjoying it, and I think that was an excellent three-song run that you chose for the video. I also didn't realize until now that you do some acting, very cool!
You are welcome. And, yes, I have done a bunch of acting here in Mexico. About a dozen or more productions. Take care.
Merci vieux touré tu es une légende après feu ALI FARKA TOURE le meilleur de tout le temps
Je vous en prie.
Your reaction and comments were perfect. I love this song and this cover, Aurora is one in a million, her movements and her voice speaks in a universal language. Greetings from Brasil! Thank you!
Gracias. Greetings back to Brasil.
So far as the band goes, I really enjoyed this - frantic and dissonance really works for me, but the vocals were just painfully average, the dude's better (for me) with the more shouted style than the "scary" Smeagol type delivery, but even then it's nothing special vocally - and that's a shame, because song-wise, this is awesome. You might dig Zeal and Ardor - they're very pop-y/easily accessible for black metal, but I think you'd dig their intent and concept.
OK, I made a note on my spreadsheet. Thanks for your comments and suggestion.
@@wallbangerreactions I don't want to belabour the point, but they've done something pretty smart with the Aversarial/Satan concept, that once you hear/see it makes perfect sense and is the perfect antidote to some of the far-right goons in the black metal genre.
Rock on Man!
Definitely.
I like your approach to this. Here are two Albums that also might do sth for you or your channel. The Body - I've seen all I need to see and Gnaw their tongues - All the dread magnificence of perversity. Have a good one sir.
The Body is excellent.
Thanks Funperson. I made an entry on my spreadsheet for a future community poll.
I love the mix of dissonance and melody especially on this album. It has moments that are intensely frightening and ominous, and on other moments it seems so beautiful. Its like being inside a huge destructive storm, and one moment you focus on its destruction and the dread it accompanies, and the other moment you appreciate how majestic and beautiful the storm is despite its destructive nature.
That makes sense to me.
These guys are what really pushed Black Metal into another realm. Id say they revolutionalized the genre. There really is no band like DsO. Theyre very tough to get into for newcomers, but once the initial shock goes away, you see just how amazing they are. DsO forever.
It only took me four months to put this suggestion on the poll. Thanks for your patience.
@@wallbangerreactions Thank YOU for reacting.
As a guitar player I hear an open G major guitar tuning. As soon as I heard this song recently I learned the chords in standard guitar tuning and just played along over and over with the song. I absolutely love this Pearl Jam song!❤
Cool. Thanks for watching and commenting.
This is probably the best introduction you couldve went for. Good job on picking this.
De nada senor.
As open-minded as I like to think I am, I often dismiss what could be a gem. I was just recently re-listening to the Del Shannon late 60s album "The Further Adventures of Charles Westover" which is a terrific album. I'm with you on this one-main knock being his voice. Great upload.
Thanks. I met a person once who said he bought Del Shannon's car. I think he was telling the truth.
i'd recommend jean dawson to you if you've never heard of him! he's an alternative rock artist
OK, kyle, I added that to my spreadsheet for a future poll. Let me know a track or two you'd recommend.
amazing video!
Yes.
The bassline of this song alone is one of the best
I hear you.
Good to see you’re still uploading.
Gracias.
They are touring for this album in NA starting November. I highly recommend seeing them live. Quite an experience.
If Mexico City didn't have 20 million people I'd go. I thought about it when they were at the Pitchfork festival a couple months ago there, but I'm too intimidated.
its seems like a pretty good acting, because i was scared for a second). i hope you're okay
Yes, perfectly fine.
Bravo
Gracias
