Ahhh... This song prevents you from going mentally insane by smashing zombies with sledgehammer, slicing zombies with katanas and chainsaws and running zombies over by a lawnmower... and of course killing psychopaths. Oh god... So relaxing.
I was walking through a dead mall the other day to get swimming trunks. (Only 4 stores were still open) I started playing this music through my earbuds. It was so creepy!

I'd say they take place four years apart. DR2 was released in 2010, and in DR1, if you go into the Flexin' gym, you'll see posters that say "Champion's Carnival 2006" on them, indicating it MUST'VE been the year 2006.
@kendowater It's not just that. This song - among other ambient tunes which can be heard throughout the Willamete Mall - was put in the game to create a feeling of irony for what the player ends up doing there.
I had a dream last night where I was fighting hordes of zombies in the Willamette mall with the Dead rising 1 laser sword, making psychopaths come back to their senses and in return helping me and my party of survivors out, thus returning back to the security room. Oddly enough this song was playing... Every psychopath turned nice after they talked to me and Frank West was my ally.
I read in a wiki that Dead Rising 2 Happens 3 years after DR 2 Case Zero, and Case Zero itself is placed 2 years after Dead Rising 1. So we could assume that there are 5 years between DR 1 and DR 2.
