The guy who made this song is the same guy that made the Silent Hill soundtrack, holy shit. Edit: I was wrong unfortunately, the track wasn’t made by Akira Yamaoka (I made said mistake because the Wikipedia page for the game said he was the main composer), He did Alice Twilight’s and Matt Helm’s battle themes.
The album this was on was last work done by Masafumi Takada before Yamaoka took over, so it was actually the artist of NMH1 that was behind the collab that this was a part of.
Owen Brooks I wouldn't lose hope just yet, mostly because blood and vulgar language isn't all Travis' character has, he has a pretty unique fighting style and goofy attitude. But I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't.

In case anyone is wondering: This track fits into the 'Acid Jazz' music genre, which is a mix of Jazz with modern electronic music. Jamiroquai often produces music in the same genre, though at a slower BPM and with less electronic instruments. (Still amazing music. Everyone and their grandmother has heard 'Virtual Insanity' by now. lol)

One thing that I would like to talk about is Travis' chances in Super Smash Bros.: Before, people thought because his games were rated M and the amount of violence and cursing there was in his games, that it would cause Travis' chances to be pretty slim. But now, I think Travis' chances are actually pretty high! Why, you ask? One word: Bayonetta. Well, even though Snake is from an M-rated franchise, the reason why I only brought Bayonetta to my comment is because Snake is not as violent and does not curse as much as Bayonetta. And when Sakurai selects a Third-Party Character in Super Smash Bros., they need to have some history behind them, and while I do think No More Heroes 1 & 2 are wonderful Wii games, we also have to take into consideration that they did not sold very well, but Goichi Suda himself has said that he wants Travis to be in Smash and, let's be honest, Bayonetta isn't really that popular either, so if Sakurai wants the badass beam katana weilder to be Smash Bros., then Travis is pretty much guaranteed!

Didn't know about this game before the smash trailer. Although yes it is unfortunate he is a costume, the fact that NMH was represented is really huge and will most likely give the game more attention (after hearing this track and looking at the gameplay, I'm going to keep an eye out for it!)

this is THE game of all time. i played it on my wii when i was 8 and then on one of the last levels my dad came in and saw all the blood so i couldnt finish it. but it is a very fun game from what i can remember, with an amazing soundtrack. (4 months later, my opinion has changed after i played the arkham games. arkham city is the game of all time)

That's because there was "Heavenly Star" by Genki Rockets on the initial version. It was removed over copyright from the Switch and Windows ports. Although you can restore it in the Windows port.

The combos are 100 times more tight to pull off, the main weapon essentially has all the older weapons built into its attack system. The five enemies you fight at a time have incredibly complex attack patterns when compared to 2's mindless goons. Just saying, sometimes less is more. Now, if you are dissapointed with the game it's more about your personal relationship with it and what you were expecting. Sorry, it's just that I now the difference between my opinion and objective facts. Regardless if you prefer a sequel to the other, what's a disappointment to you is a gold mine to others

The combos are very shallow (yyyy, xxx xxxxxx, drop an rt in there and the cooldown skills which mostly just keep the enemies juggled further), not making up for the lack of extra weapons when they should've implemented quick switching for them and that's it, and the enemies despite their better movesets are still very much punching bags you combo for 100+ hits with few exceptions, some bosses are on part if not better with the new dodge but you also have some laughably shitty ones like the musical chairs one, gold joe who is fun but mostly combo fodder as you smash him repeatedly against the walls, kimmy who is just waiting around for a lokg time until you can get a small combo on her and the final boss which is somehow worse than batt going from a mostly blocking first phase to a tiring second one where you wait for ages you hit thrice the big arm, a fucking QTE WITH THE MECHA WHEN THE GAME BUILT UP SPACE BATTLES AS A GAMEPLAY STYLE THE WHOLE TIME AND DIDN'T GIVE US A SUPER FINAL FIGHT WITH IT, and bootleg smash as a victory lap. And there's some really pointless stats with the death glove chips (you can easily break the game by getting the perfect dodge + chips and the mustang dodge , wailing for days on them, also the death glove skills are only 4 when tsa had so many and with more variety), and the specials this time utterly obliterate everything, are given out frequently at random and are utterly skilless, wow, so awesome how I got invincibility /15 second long combo/piss easy throw juggle/nuke damage for landing a singular full combo and now the boss has half health already... Christel said it herself in the first game, the stages exist to pump you uo for the boss, having to navigate the boring open world to find closed off easy missions with 3 enemies at a time is not fun. It's not like the level design in the previous games was a technical marvel, they should've downgraded the graphics instead so suda could keep his consistent 60 fps promise. It would be more understandable to downgrade graphics over making the game no more cupheads since it's only bosses. It especially ticks me off when MIDORIKAWA DOES HAVE HER OWN TINY LEVEL AND THE FINAL BOSS PUTS A SINGULAR BATTLE BEFORE HIM TO TRICK YOU INTO BELIEVING YOU'LL ACTUALLY HAVE A REAL STAGE THIS TIME BUT NO F YOU. The story is also an insult to the series by randomly butchering characters like Henry, and by turning the jokes in previous games into the main game basically in some netflixy meta reference crap, where they can't do a singular cutscene without spelling out how they're subverting expectations or namedropping a famous thing, ruining potentially funny jokes. Musical chairs has a shit boss afterwards, but ff doesn't (but they interrupt the flow to talk about tifa's titties as if that isn't the most overdone joke ever), they kill the cool alien bosses several times to mock bad twists... While also making bad twists? The final boss is literally a product placement for their parent company's other videogame, Henry is murdered and turned into an abomination for some really bad jokes, and the other characters do fuck all except giving a singular hit to the final boss in the ending, which I'm guessing is mocking shonen anime friendship since they're much weaker than the mc and become irrelevant. Despite the second game doing otherwise to mix up gameplay. Travis switches between having matured and having learned nothing at all from the previous games depending on the cutscene, the main villains are such a low hanging fruit of "surround yourself with real friends like travis" (while batt is also low hanging fruit, they couldn't hold up to jeane from 2007)and the ending is some pretty dumb sequel bait after a really anticlimactic final boss that was built up as super strong. Simply put the game is called no more heroes yet they act like it's part of the mcu with how many bad quips they spout. I swear the previous games were not like this. The game is not only inferior in features and content to a 10+ years old Wii game but it's also employing its theme of kill the past by literally killing what people liked the series for. Travis strikes back had ok gameplay but a great story and a wonderful introspective to game development, being a much better "kill the past" than this. Clearly suda WANTED to make tsa, while he tossed out 3 to please the fans. In a way it's both like and unlike his golden era: it's got none of the brilliant writing, but it does have the ideal of telling something over actually making the game fun, becoming an art house project rather than a video game, like the silver case. I don't utterly hate the game since the bosses are still entertaining enough but it's a very disappointing sequel that's barely passable as a modern game. You can't blame me for hype and shit when it literally is a downgrade everywhere but graphically. Having 1's writing and 2's gameplay with a smaller better open world if they really want that shit would've made for a great game but nmh3 fans are coping with an undercooked unfinished game because of "suda's vision". Yeah, his vision made him create a purposefully frustrating and unbearable point and click game with some of the best videogame storytelling. The guy is a sadist.

Played 60 hours of nmh 60 hours of nmh2 and 100 hours of nmh3. TSA is my favorite game to play with friends as well. I honestly just prefer the third one compared to the second because the direction is amazing and Suda is a powerful storyteller. Controls for the Katana and Beat Attacks remain the same as the first game, but there's a few more additions. First off, you can perform a Beat Attack combo by mashing the button, Beat attacks actually do damage, so yes, you _can_ punch and kick your enemies to death, and wrestling moves are an instant kill against mooks. Bosses just take damage. You can also switch between Travis's beam katanas by holding 2/R and moving the Left stick. Each beam katana has different strengths and weaknesses. Note that at first, Travis only starts with the Blood Berry. Inactive beam katanas recharge on their own over time. There's also the Ecstasy Gauge, yeah, real subtle, I know. As you maim your foes, the tiger on the bottom right corner will start to wake up. When it turns red and roars, press the - button to enter a special Dark Side Mode that gives Travis lightning quick slashes. All dark side modes last until the tiger stops breathing fire. Be warned, taking damage will cause the Ecstasy Gauge to decrease. Think of it like Yakuza's Heat Gauge, basically. Picking up... Erm... Comics, will max out the meter immediately. Yeah, comics. That's what they are... Heh. Oh, one more thing. If Travis runs out of health, but he's still standing, try struggling. You might just save his life... Be warned, however. Even the most determined fighter can only withstand so much before they keel over...
I feel like the first few seconds, that jazzy and jingle-y beginning, when the voice says "no more heroes, it´s kill or be killed" sounds like commercial music, something you'd hear in a tv commercial, or in the elevator from a large corporation, just before hearing the "ding" from it. (even the song ends when you get on the elevator in the game). It gives a similar vibe to the Doofenshmirtz Evil Inc. jingle. The first few seconds have always given me that happy vibe of a corporate busy building, ironic that the lyrics talk about something as cynical as killing to get to the top, but the game really talks about it, about how killing became a frivolous spectacle for the masses and a way for businessmen to profit from it to the point where the organization of assassins has become a prolific company. Probably my favorite song along with Alice's theme.
i know this is a three month old comment, but if you do, i highly recommend the switch port. the original wii port kind of struggles, the pc port is more or less buggy, and we DO NOT talk about the ps3 port.

Owen Brooks I wouldn't lose hope just yet, mostly because blood and vulgar language isn't all Travis' character has, he has a pretty unique fighting style and goofy attitude. But I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't.

Before, people thought because his games were rated M and the amount of violence and cursing there was in his games, that it would cause Travis' chances to be pretty slim.

Well, even though Snake is from an M-rated franchise, the reason why I only brought Bayonetta to my comment is because Snake is not as violent and does not curse as much as Bayonetta.
And when Sakurai selects a Third-Party Character in Super Smash Bros., they need to have some history behind them, and while I do think No More Heroes 1 & 2 are wonderful Wii games, we also have to take into consideration that they did not sold very well, but Goichi Suda himself has said that he wants Travis to be in Smash and, let's be honest, Bayonetta isn't really that popular either, so if Sakurai wants the badass beam katana weilder to be Smash Bros., then Travis is pretty much guaranteed!
It would be something to see Travis in Smash. In a sense then we'd both have a Platnum Games character AND a Suda 51 character.

Didn't know about this game before the smash trailer. Although yes it is unfortunate he is a costume, the fact that NMH was represented is really huge and will most likely give the game more attention (after hearing this track and looking at the gameplay, I'm going to keep an eye out for it!)

The combos are 100 times more tight to pull off, the main weapon essentially has all the older weapons built into its attack system. The five enemies you fight at a time have incredibly complex attack patterns when compared to 2's mindless goons. Just saying, sometimes less is more.
Now, if you are dissapointed with the game it's more about your personal relationship with it and what you were expecting. Sorry, it's just that I now the difference between my opinion and objective facts. Regardless if you prefer a sequel to the other, what's a disappointment to you is a gold mine to others

The combos are very shallow (yyyy, xxx xxxxxx, drop an rt in there and the cooldown skills which mostly just keep the enemies juggled further), not making up for the lack of extra weapons when they should've implemented quick switching for them and that's it, and the enemies despite their better movesets are still very much punching bags you combo for 100+ hits with few exceptions, some bosses are on part if not better with the new dodge but you also have some laughably shitty ones like the musical chairs one, gold joe who is fun but mostly combo fodder as you smash him repeatedly against the walls, kimmy who is just waiting around for a lokg time until you can get a small combo on her and the final boss which is somehow worse than batt going from a mostly blocking first phase to a tiring second one where you wait for ages you hit thrice the big arm, a fucking QTE WITH THE MECHA WHEN THE GAME BUILT UP SPACE BATTLES AS A GAMEPLAY STYLE THE WHOLE TIME AND DIDN'T GIVE US A SUPER FINAL FIGHT WITH IT, and bootleg smash as a victory lap.
And there's some really pointless stats with the death glove chips (you can easily break the game by getting the perfect dodge + chips and the mustang dodge , wailing for days on them, also the death glove skills are only 4 when tsa had so many and with more variety), and the specials this time utterly obliterate everything, are given out frequently at random and are utterly skilless, wow, so awesome how I got invincibility /15 second long combo/piss easy throw juggle/nuke damage for landing a singular full combo and now the boss has half health already...
Christel said it herself in the first game, the stages exist to pump you uo for the boss, having to navigate the boring open world to find closed off easy missions with 3 enemies at a time is not fun. It's not like the level design in the previous games was a technical marvel, they should've downgraded the graphics instead so suda could keep his consistent 60 fps promise. It would be more understandable to downgrade graphics over making the game no more cupheads since it's only bosses. It especially ticks me off when MIDORIKAWA DOES HAVE HER OWN TINY LEVEL AND THE FINAL BOSS PUTS A SINGULAR BATTLE BEFORE HIM TO TRICK YOU INTO BELIEVING YOU'LL ACTUALLY HAVE A REAL STAGE THIS TIME BUT NO F YOU.
The story is also an insult to the series by randomly butchering characters like Henry, and by turning the jokes in previous games into the main game basically in some netflixy meta reference crap, where they can't do a singular cutscene without spelling out how they're subverting expectations or namedropping a famous thing, ruining potentially funny jokes. Musical chairs has a shit boss afterwards, but ff doesn't (but they interrupt the flow to talk about tifa's titties as if that isn't the most overdone joke ever), they kill the cool alien bosses several times to mock bad twists... While also making bad twists?
The final boss is literally a product placement for their parent company's other videogame, Henry is murdered and turned into an abomination for some really bad jokes, and the other characters do fuck all except giving a singular hit to the final boss in the ending, which I'm guessing is mocking shonen anime friendship since they're much weaker than the mc and become irrelevant. Despite the second game doing otherwise to mix up gameplay.
Travis switches between having matured and having learned nothing at all from the previous games depending on the cutscene, the main villains are such a low hanging fruit of "surround yourself with real friends like travis" (while batt is also low hanging fruit, they couldn't hold up to jeane from 2007)and the ending is some pretty dumb sequel bait after a really anticlimactic final boss that was built up as super strong.
Simply put the game is called no more heroes yet they act like it's part of the mcu with how many bad quips they spout. I swear the previous games were not like this.
The game is not only inferior in features and content to a 10+ years old Wii game but it's also employing its theme of kill the past by literally killing what people liked the series for. Travis strikes back had ok gameplay but a great story and a wonderful introspective to game development, being a much better "kill the past" than this.
Clearly suda WANTED to make tsa, while he tossed out 3 to please the fans. In a way it's both like and unlike his golden era: it's got none of the brilliant writing, but it does have the ideal of telling something over actually making the game fun, becoming an art house project rather than a video game, like the silver case.
I don't utterly hate the game since the bosses are still entertaining enough but it's a very disappointing sequel that's barely passable as a modern game. You can't blame me for hype and shit when it literally is a downgrade everywhere but graphically. Having 1's writing and 2's gameplay with a smaller better open world if they really want that shit would've made for a great game but nmh3 fans are coping with an undercooked unfinished game because of "suda's vision". Yeah, his vision made him create a purposefully frustrating and unbearable point and click game with some of the best videogame storytelling. The guy is a sadist.

If you want to know more about the person who you are arguing with (hi my name is Henri btw sorry if my first comment sounded rude) I'm a really big fan of the franchise. Played 60 hours of nmh 60 hours of nmh2 and 100 hours of nmh3. TSA is my favorite game to play with friends as well. I might not be an expert on Suda lore, but I do feel like there is a deeper understanding of his intentions with each game.
I honestly just prefer the third one compared to the second because the direction is amazing and Suda is a powerful storyteller. But yes man, I did love when Skelter Helter ripped his own head (the second game was my favorite for a loooooooong time), the same way I loved it when Travis said "heishin" for the first time (big Kamen rider and Miike nerd as well).
I just hope you can understand my point without painting a broad stroke on a certain group of people based on your own personal opinions

Controls for the Katana and Beat Attacks remain the same as the first game, but there's a few more additions. First off, you can perform a Beat Attack combo by mashing the button, Beat attacks actually do damage, so yes, you _can_ punch and kick your enemies to death, and wrestling moves are an instant kill against mooks. Bosses just take damage. You can also switch between Travis's beam katanas by holding 2/R and moving the Left stick. Each beam katana has different strengths and weaknesses. Note that at first, Travis only starts with the Blood Berry. Inactive beam katanas recharge on their own over time. There's also the Ecstasy Gauge, yeah, real subtle, I know. As you maim your foes, the tiger on the bottom right corner will start to wake up. When it turns red and roars, press the - button to enter a special Dark Side Mode that gives Travis lightning quick slashes. All dark side modes last until the tiger stops breathing fire. Be warned, taking damage will cause the Ecstasy Gauge to decrease. Think of it like Yakuza's Heat Gauge, basically. Picking up... Erm... Comics, will max out the meter immediately. Yeah, comics. That's what they are... Heh.
Oh, one more thing. If Travis runs out of health, but he's still standing, try struggling. You might just save his life... Be warned, however. Even the most determined fighter can only withstand so much before they keel over...

I feel like the first few seconds, that jazzy and jingle-y beginning, when the voice says "no more heroes, it´s kill or be killed" sounds like commercial music, something you'd hear in a tv commercial, or in the elevator from a large corporation, just before hearing the "ding" from it. (even the song ends when you get on the elevator in the game). It gives a similar vibe to the Doofenshmirtz Evil Inc. jingle.
The first few seconds have always given me that happy vibe of a corporate busy building, ironic that the lyrics talk about something as cynical as killing to get to the top, but the game really talks about it, about how killing became a frivolous spectacle for the masses and a way for businessmen to profit from it to the point where the organization of assassins has become a prolific company. Probably my favorite song along with Alice's theme.

i know this is a three month old comment, but if you do, i highly recommend the switch port. the original wii port kind of struggles, the pc port is more or less buggy, and we DO NOT talk about the ps3 port.
