please secure the shelves to the wall, with the littles in the house if one topped over it could be devastating. They sell kits at home depot and lowes
Yes! I swear this isnt talked about enough. Just a tv or heavy dresser falling on a child could be fatal. But a lot of parent's arent told of this i was one of then until i watched a video and someone had lost their 3yr old girl to a falling tv. We dont always look at day to day items such as a tv being deadly but when it comes to our babies nothing is in the clear.
@@kelsiefletcher Im OCD safety. Yes OCD diagnosed by a doctor. Spent 18 years on an ambulance crew and the things that people don’t think of. A huge problem is what you carry in your vehicle that is not belted in. Dogs, tools etc. those are projectile objects in an accident and seriously injure or kill a lot of people.
@@kelsiefletcher I used to say '...this isn't talked about enough.'.....within comments to Alex's previous vids ages ago.... re: the hazards of mom's having their newborns sleep in bed with them. I got SOooo much flack from followers, it was frustrating. I used to include it as part of my discharge teaching for patients who just delivered. 2 weeks after one of my patients was discharged home with her 3rd child (and I had done her discharge teaching)....I was asked to attend the funeral of her newborn. The mom unknowingly smothered her daughter in bed. Of course I attended the services, and my patient came up to me and just hugged - hugged - and hugged some more. She then whispered '.....why didn't I listen?!'. Neither of us could then talk. It was back in 2002, and it still brings tears to my eyes. People can tell me that they would never do such a thing, that they'd know their child was right there, it would never happen to them....etc. I heard the exact same thing from this mom. She would be the first to tell people her story now .... and in fact....she does. She is often a guest speaker to this day. SO.....YES - I agree.....safety with tv's, dressers and such is SO important. I think more people find it easier to accept re: the tv's and dressers, vs something untoward happening in bed with an infant. Better safe than sorry either way. 💜
@@kelsiefletcher You know....I forgot to mention. I have the same type of garage shelving that they are using in their root cellar. Mine came with the accessory bracket that secures them into the block wall. You just have to use the correct drill bit and it is easy peasy to do. 👍
@@kimbo500 you can safely bed share with infants. My sister did it as do millions. But they don’t talk about it for fear of being shamed. Kids can also die in cribs too.
Loved your laugh Alex. Add your mum and you both would have the world laughing. Hilarious seeing and hearing Phil after the tool box tipping over. You both are doing such a great job with the Renos and you make it entertaining.Keep enjoying grinding away accomplishing tasks, love your videos , take care xxx
philip i feel ya with the noise and choas. i found that a pair of lightweight high quality noise-cancelling headphones makes a HUGE difference in happiness and productivity.❤❤
Love the fact that this can be a storm shelter. Your area (as well as mine) has storms/tornados at times and a storm shelter is most welcome. Also, to have the girls helments/flashlights/etc. right there, is a great idea. Also, as mentioned, securing the shelves is important.....but I'm sure you already have that in mind.
I think you guys should do a podcast. I love listening to you guys. You have a lot of great things to share with the 🌎
Fabulous idea but I don’t think Phillip would be able to sit down long enough lol 😝
@@kristyburroughs2267 who say he needs to sit all the time. There are many ways to achieve something if you want it bad enough
😂🤣😂 Forgive me, but that shoe loss, tool box chaos had me cracking up. Glad no one was hurt. Wishing you good health and happiness. 🌻
Same
I love it. I live in Nashville area and we have a tornado room. One tip is to hang netting or have netting like on a play pen on the shelves where your canning jars are 1. So in a storm if things get to shaking a bit or whatever you can secure them so they don’t fall. One of my friends used side rails for a bed for when kids are little. Just a thought.
There is so much joy in this video! Its exciting to see your hard work paying off and your family thriving.
i have ADHD combined as long as i have structure, good sleep, activities, good healthy meals, tools like ways to manage stress, chaos, happiness, and healthy positive environment i can make it through each day. but i am struggling with sleep due to issue around me that has affected my daily living for almost 3 years i have no family or friends so its great to see love and support between 2 people with different personality.
Hey Kitty, just read your comment and wanted to share something that may or may not be of interest to you. I have a chronic illness/permanent disability that made falling asleep and staying asleep very difficult for me. I finally did A LOT of research on REPUTABLE CBD manufacturers (not just the 'popular' well known ones!), and gave it a try. I am now almost always getting at least 5-6 hrs of sleep almost every night - which is amazing compared to my history. I don't sell it, have any marketing ties to it....just sharing that I struggled and it helps me. Now, I'm aware that everyone's situation is different....so you may want to take it with a grain of salt. Feel free to message me if you have any questions you'd like to ask me. Good luck!! 💜
OMG, the tool box situation was sooo funny, hahahah!
Thank you for sharing real family life. So happy you have a storm shelter. Much love
What a cute video! Not gonna lie though, I laughed so hard when the tool box fell over 🤣😂🤣 Have a great one, God Bless.
Once Phillips office is downstairs, the current office can become your guest room. Because unless your rv is fully hooked into sewer, you still have to drive it to a dump station every time it gets used as a guest house.
OOO PHIL you do empty those heavy things before you move them, remember your back should last some more years
When moving cabinets, always take out the drawers.
I love the addition and the storage space you created. Blessings from above for your family
Did you build a little lip shelving on the front of your shelving? It stops the jars and items from being knocked off the shelves. That along with anchoring them will be great to do (if you havent already). Blessings to you all. I love all aspects of your videos. I love your kids, your fertility journey, your homesteading, homeschooling and the encouragement you share. My kids are grown, I am a Nana and I am not able to homestead ( no yard or basement) so I love watching you learning and do it all.
The root cellar is coming along so good! I seriously love your property and what you have done to the place..and hey without mistakes we never learn! Have a blessed day today !
Super LOVELY property!! Great place for the kids to grow up!
My sons have had some off my hubby,s dad tools and his grandad''s tools which they were so excited about . Hope Phillip enjoys the tools from your grandad xxx
The two girls dancing at the end is the best ever.
I’m laughing out loud at the toolbox debacle.😂🤣😂🤣
Lol the way I laughed when the toolbox tipped over 🤣
Share it all. We will be watching.
may want to include an inflatable mattress in your storm shelter gear because a lot of storms happen at night
Very good suggestion, along with some sleeping bags.
Um, you usually unload the tools before you move the chest, because they are heavy! Just a tip!🤣
Yup! I thought the exact same thing! Why aren’t they emptying that tool chest out first? 🤣
@@susanrnbc Yep!
Ohh its lovely to see Philip with you chatting today! Lovely couple! God bless you both.
Great VLOG... root cellar/storm cellar looks absolutely amazing...
So HAPPY all your hard work is paying off...
Excited to see the addition reveal...
GBY ALL 🙏❤💙💖💖💖🤗✝️
You guys are so getting there❤️
I’m so excited to finally see the finished work!!
I love how you guys laugh when something goes wrong, I'm the same way! sometimes on my most terrible of days I just sit down and laugh, some people say I'm crazy for it and ask why I'm laughing, I always say "what am I gonna do? sit down and cry? I'd rather laugh, atleast laughing makes me feel a little better!" and when I find it hard to laugh I tell myself a little joke!
My grandfather used to say that back in the day things were made to last but now things are made to be replaced. It was sooo rare if he replaced anything he would always fix it if it broke. That man could make any tool or thinga-ma-jig he ever needed! ♥️
That last little scene of Kinsley and Callie is so cute 😊
Awesome work y’all! Loving how much storage that underground shelter will give you guys. Little helpful hint-if you find that you need storage containers/plastic bins and baskets for smaller items on the shelves, Dollar Tree has such good deals and new fall colors!!! Love you beautiful family 💘
Awesome video Your family is so blessed! I love you guys for showing us your accomplishments..
Cassidy has gotten so big, her blowing kisses at the end was precious.
Oh Phillip my 64 yr old hubby feels ya about not hearing all the things during the day. He’s still that way. I was always like Alex & still am. I loved hearing all the things with our two children & now our three grandchildren. So excited to see what all the extension looks like, up & down.🤗❤️
Home is looking awsome!!!! Your Killin it Phil👌😃🙏
Got the exact same coat and loving how so soft and you look adorable.
Phillip and Alex I have been following and adoring watching you grow. My husband and have been together for almost 36 years, married for 30.... Since I was 15 & he was 17. Just wanted to say that whenever I am down I can watch a video of yours and be reminded of no matter the chaos or crazy stress in life - there are blessings mixed in even when we don't see them right away.
May God watch over you and Keep you safe until next time
Insulation on the heat pipe and cover the space with some type of ceiling board or plywood to stop heat from entering the area. Should help it keep cooler. You can use pipe strapping like you get at the Lowes or Menards to strap the shelves to the walls so the girls can’t pull them over. Cheap to buy by the roll and can use for lots of things!
I'm so sorry for laughing so hard Philip just alittle trick tape the Drew's Duck Tape or wrap the tool box in plastic wrap before you moving it 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
When Alex said Graceful I lost it lol 😆 You guys are amazing ❤
You guys put in addition on your home, I love it!
Hope you all have a good week ❤️
You guys are a beautiful family 🌼
I storm shelter is a must for ya'll. Glad to see that addition, blessings 🙌
😃 oh my the toolbox.. 😆 🤣
Learn by doing is sometimes the best way.....but it's okay to take advice of experienced "others". Anchoring those heavy shelves and securing those ceilings will provide the safety you deserve! The addition does have great versatile extra space! Great forward thinking!🍂🍂❤❤
You need a pole barn... for outside stuff... do a finished floor and insulate.. I wish all of our pole barn was insulated.. (partially done)
Also YES more video! We love watching you guys talk and your day to day :)
I cant imagine having to think about storing food away for an emergency, its not something we hear about here ( South Australia) but I have seen so many Vloggers doing it now. Im with Phillip on the noise thing, I like quiet lol
Phil and Alex. I’m not sure if you discussed this but, your root cellar is for canned goods and you are going to add people to that cellar during a storm and have glass flying around the room? If you put feed for animals in that cellar you will have mice also. Paper products will be eaten by mice and anything cardboard will be too.
One thing that I’ve found is that libraries are fantastic for productivity! If Philip is looking for a space, then he could try finding a local library. I’m loving the birkensocks! 😂
Love these kind of videos. Thanks for sharing. The addition looks great!!
Awesome job! Tools are necessary on a Homestead!! Love your Family!😊💖🧅🥕🫑🌶🍓🍏🍎🥦🥫🥫🥫
I absolutely love your videos it’s real life and I just love things you do. It’ so interesting Love from Scotland UK
Holy schnikes!! The tool box was crazy! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Muscle racks are the BEST!!! Economical and heavy duty! I created a workshop counter in my garage splitting one into in two! Then another right beside for full height storage. Seriously the best racks you can buy!
I'm with you Alex. I LOVED the chaos of having the kids around and under my feet 24/7. Believe me they're grown and gone before you know it and you miss it more than ANYTHING. It's so lonesome around here it's terrible on the farm now. Nothing is the same. Which I was only blessed with two kids but I had the place where all of the kids came too so we always had a house full and I loved every minute of it. My daughter moved away for college and then married and stayed pretty far away and my son passed away due to heart complications so it's just me and it's terribly lonely. I'm so happy that you all are building your family and your life, there is NOTHING like having faith, family and home! Blessings to you all. I love watching you all ❤
So true. Nothing like your family around you. Good Luck and God Bless. 🙏
I'm so sorry for your loss, PJ. It sounds like you are a loving and generous parent who built a beautiful home for your family. May you continue to be blessed.
I have ADHD too but during the pandemic, my mom’s office was in the guest room, my dad’s office was in their retreat room, my sister did school either downstairs in the kitchen or in her room and I did my whole sophomore year of college online so I was in my room but we all gathered together during breaks or after school and work.
The girls are soo cute. I'm looking forward to seeing the addition. And I just love you all.❤🙏
Stop being so hard on my friend in your mirror. You are doing amazing! And you are doing your best! Love ya'll.
Congratulations! What a relief! Great job getting through the construction.
I know what you mean about the hoarding. You are better to be prepared. My parents are moving trying to give us my grandfather’s tool chest whom died before I was born. Now I am getting furniture and stuff from my childhood that we have to store at my cousins till we build our home next year that we can use it in. It is just so stressful trying to get everything in order and four kids in the mix!!
When moving tool boxes or things with drawers ratchet strap them closed so they don't dump out. 😊
Or remove them so the object isn't as heavy
My fiance just bought me a heated jacket for winter I'm loving it for these ice cold 5am mornings.! It's so nice.! Here in Pennsylvania it's been really cold.! The last few days haven't actually been that bad thankfully.! 🥶😊
Phil I'm with you I like quiet when I'm doing things. Back ground hash helps. Then there is times I enjoy having people around its just who we are hey...
Yes video of mistakes. That's a learning experience. Love you guys 😘 awesome video 📸
Alex was all in on the lift
Phillip was all up and down hehe
Mom troubles
Good job for helpin momma
Um why didn't you just empty out the tools to begin with? LOL. Y'all are so funny!!
You might use dowels in those open shelves to keep glass jars from falling on you during a hurricane etc. looking good
Yes, PLEASE make a Top Ten Mistakes video. That would be extremely helpful for those wanting to do just like you’re doing. Great learning curves! 😁👍♥️
Loving the storage shelves
A part of me can’t wait to one day inherit my dad’s tools because most of them are from the 70s when he was doing his electrical trade My dad still has a electrical meter that he has had since before I was born almost 28 years ago and parents were married 32 years ago and he has probably had it longer than that and it still does the job all through his career and the ode jobs he does in retirement.
Love to hear the top 10 mistakes you’ve made and what you would have done different
I live in Australia and I can’t even imagine needing a storm shelter or even needing to store a months worth of food!
Love,love,love❤hugs from Missouri 🤗
I just wanted to come home and say hi beautiful family from us in Australia Newcastle
My son blew a kiss to Cassidy so cutee
looooooove the homestead videos!😍😍😍
So happy for you guys!
Great Vlog! Love your family! I laughter with the whole moving the tool box and loosing your shoes. 😀
Are you going to anchor the shelving units to the walls??
Especially in a storm shelter, things can still happen since it is connected to your home!
Yes,
You should take a look at the channel Jake and Nicole off grid look at the Bunkee house or the other pre fabulous. They are completely off grid and use the Bunkee house as their bedroom instead of living in the yurt. They are also building the cottage house for the new addition to the family. It's set in a boat access only property. It's stunning. Jake Mace is known as the Vegan Athlete on TH-cam has a MEGATON of garden knowledge. So between Jake and Nicole off grid, your lovely family, and Roots and Refuge farm I'm always inspired. Thank you for all of the positivity and love you show. P.s. I'm telling you it's to die for and addictive. Maybe you could get one and make it Phil's office! On a funny note whenever I type Phil's name it auto correct changes it to aphids, ha ha ha your welcome.
You guys are such an amazing family,I Love you guys....
You are doing a great job Your girls are adorable xx 💖💖💖
Cassidy is just getting cuter every video that u do she really is the best.
But I agree with u Alex u do need to do more video’s point blank
A lot of things made 50 years ago was great..including me lol!!! Joke 😂
I have severe adhd
And ashbergers
My two oldest are Irish twins
One has ashbergers and one has sec.adhd
And I am a stay at home momma and homeschool momma for the oldest!!!
Bless y’all heart for sharing my struggle lol
Love your videos. You always have something to share to help us learn. Love all your reasoning.
That was such a Clark W Greenwald move. ❤ vacation is it time for the family to come for the holidays?
I have PTSD but it presents so similar to ADHD. I'm also learning about this right now too so Phillip, I can relate!! I'm also studying and with C lockdowns, wooooow. I have about 5 or 6 projects on the go as well as 3 college papers 🤦🏻♀️ my husband is more like Alex. It works though, love, communication and respect make it work 😊
I mis your children. Why do we see so little of them. I love your kids
Love you guys!
I love your guys banter! Lol
You probably already thought of this, but just in case, make sure you have games, books, and other things for the girls to do if you have to go into the storm shelter. As close to normal for them as possible. Cuts down on their stress. BTW. I don't like feet either!!!
Well, Phil that went well !
You guys just rock.
I love the new space .but . if your gonna ue tht one spot as a storm shelter for hirricanes/ tornadoes / or other weather man made events it wouldnt be safe to store home canned foods or heavy item in there that could potentially fall on your and tge kids. Xoukd be harmful or even fatal ..id store food and supplies eles where except maybe a few flasnights and water and smaller foods
Never thought about it but you are absolutely right
TH-cam must be paying excellent these days.
😆 I've thought the same...I also have thought how many people I'm paying working wages too, with how many I fallow and usually let those adds run/play not skipping past them, liking and commenting helps their revenue as well.
And we are rewarded with knowledge, entertainment, and a sence of family bonds I suppose.
Hey guys ... random question.... off subject ... lol . The baby's eye skin bump is there any plans on getting that removed in the near future? Is it causing her any problems with her sight?
