- The day before Thanksgiving, I woke up to news reports claiming that the Roblox Corporation had filed a legal complaint against me demanding $1.6M, among other things. In this video series, I go over the merits of their filing and its chilling effect on freedom of expression.

It WILL get in history as the case when One ordinary person made a rustle in such a large company as Roblox. And many who, having heard about this incident, will go to tell their friends, and they are unlikely to miss the denouement of all this, because this could lead to a change in the concept of "Freedom of Expression". And as you said, if Ruben wins - This will prove that any content maker will have a chance against huge companies. If Roblox wins - it will be a start of an era, where Bethesda, Activision, Microsoft, Roblox, and etc could sue everyone who done something, that they don't like. Actually, this is already happening.

Although, the main point is that, not *everyone* can pay money to counter sue like Ruben. Like thie scenario, Roblox could go after anyone else that they hate just as much as Ruben and I don't like where this is going because it sounds to me that they're trying to threaten and silence people who speak ill of their company. You could argue that this case is more serious since it involves terrorist threats and the cancellation of Roblox's conference but I believe Ruben was not the cause of it and they're using him as kind of like a scape goat.

The fact that SEGA HAD to take actions to forcefully get rid of this guy even though ROBLOX was supposed to be the one punishing that predator is down right horrendous. I've known Roblox was a shady company since I was a 12 year old. I'm 23 now. Roblox knows it can get away with just about anything because the only people that are paying attention are kids, and kids have no voice. See if the court where the lawsuit is taking place has anti slapp laws. These can be used to strike down a lot of corporate lawsuits if they are filed in bad faith for the purposes of retaliation.

Roblox is so scared of losing and being exposed that they backed down and settled with ruben after this video was posted. Honestly this video was great. It single-handedly made a counterthreat against roblox in which could’ve made them lose the case if it were to go to trial or even worse for them could’ve threatened the value of roblox stock once word spreads out (which could’ve made roblox lose a lot more.) I’m aware this case has already settled and ruben still has to pay a ton, but it could’ve ended a lot worse for ruben.

This is gonna be a REALLY interesting case. Not only because of the precedent it will set if the court rules in Roblox's favor, but how callous the American court system really is if Roblox wins, with regards to children.
Ruben already made a tweet that he and roblox settled out of court - he gets to keep all his stuff and doesn't have to pay, but he's not allowed on the Roblox platform anymore.

In a court of law, this all goes down to who the judge is and how much they have accepted and are familiar with current technology, so they would follow and understand a majority of the defendants points. It's basically a 50/50 chance for Ruben Sim's life to be ruined, and those odds must be terrifying.

I've always been on Ruben's side because I knew that pretty much the entirety of the lawsuit was just bullshit and that Ruben is one of the only content creators willing to openly call people out, despite the possible repercussions.
Ruben isnt the only content creator pointing it out, Greenlegocats does reports on pretty much everything new with roblox, from new updates, events, controversies, etc. He has also suffered a similar (but not as fierce) backlash from the roblox corporation, he has videos on what roblox has done to him, so go check them out.

Although I believe that the case ended and that justice was done, I believe that wasn't enough. They still bled you for money, and although they dropped the case and won't let you onto the platform anymore, I believe that you should still release the other 2 parts, reveal the rest of what they buried beneath the dirt, and show those who care and those who are ignorant what Roblox had fully tried to do, because they stated that they won't interfere with things outside of their platform, and yet, they went after you when you said something about them outside of their platform. They will be sure to do this again if something isn't done, so with that in mind, my advice is to release the other 2 parts, even if incomplete and even if you can't access their platform anymore, record the rest and finish what has started, because rest assured, people are still watching, even if the case is settled.

So after reading the aftermath, this guy basically had to pay $150K and is now banished from the website. However, Roblox itself has recently been under more scrutiny for lack of accountability for allowing predators to be getting away with more harassment and manipulation. Although Ruben may be gone, this does not mean we won’t stop holding roblox accountable for their lack of security and overall protection of children on their own game. Ruben, you will not be remembered as someone who lost the case, but you will be remembered as a major figure of calling out roblox and exposing how corrupt the company really is to hundreds of thousands of people like us

I would like to say the odds of him winning this suit have gone up drastically.
He could counter-sue for the blatant lies to damage his reputation, due to the expenses, I doubt he will. Their lawyers could also lose their licenses, because of the breaking of the oaths. The amazing caution and care he is taking as to not say anything that can be bent is insane. On top of this his lawyer is fucking great, thank you very much Lawyer Sim.
Sega has also gained my respect, because, for those unaware, their copyright is very loose, they used this reason in order to ban a child predator, and destroy his income. A mega corporation that cares slightly, wow.
Edit: Yup, I'm slow, case is closed. For the comments on counter-suing, no, it would not be a good idea, it's expensive. Roblox may have 'won', but this incident was a huge PR disaster, so I'd say they both kind of lost. Finally, yes, Sega closed it due to 'copyright', but Sega has been very loose in the past with it, so I doubt that was fully why they did it.
