On 1/3/20 i took a trip to the Lake District to check out Whinlatter Trail Centre with Adam (@Servinscouse) and Phil (@Phil_h_87)
After a few (too many) months off the bike over Christmas and New Year it was time to dust of the cobwebs and get out for the first Vlog of 2020!
It was an early start for us as the lakes are a few hours away from Liverpool and we had to load up the van with everyones gear. Once on the road and a few miles under the belt the sun decided to make a pleasant appearance, although the wind was strong and icey!
At the Trail Centre, bikes out and set up, gear on and Vlog intro sorted we headed to the trail head to start the North Loop. The start of the trail gives you a nice little taste as to what the loop is like before the main climbing begins.
Unlike most trail centres I've been to where you have a mix of ups and down through out the ride, Whinlatter Loops are mainly 1 big climb to the top and big descent to the bottom - tough but i think i actually prefer it that way.
the slog was hefty and i definitely lagged behind but the views up top of snow capped lake district were well worth it. the trails down to the bottom were great and i really thought the final descent was the best on the North loop with the big sweeping switchbacks to the bottom!
Back to the carpark for a quick refuel and go pro battery swap and we were out again.
The South loop is much like the North, big slog to the top were you have the option of going a little big higher to do the black section (i recommend doing it) and then continue with the Red all the way to the bottom. Just like the North loop, the last descent was probably my fave as it was fast and flowy.
All in all it was a great day back riding bikes but i definitely was gassed and struggled getting back into it which showed towards the end.

Christie Park i use the Stuntman chest harness and GoPro hero 7 black.
I also use a gimbal for extra smooth footage but the harness and GoPro will do just fine 👌🏻
