  • Back up at Whinlatter Forest to finally film a video of the north loop with the new Hero 7. Definitely one of my favourite routes up at Whinlatter, with great views back down over Keswick and the surrounding areas, plus some pretty fun and technical descents.
    If you have any ideas or requests for rides in The Lake District be sure to let me know in the comments below and I'll check them out! They might just feature in a future video!

      @DistrictMountainBiker  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Awesome! It's a pretty good trail for most abilities. Nice to learn riding on sightly rougher terrain, but then even more fun when you practice and go faster and faster 😁

    • @leesample9606
      @leesample9606 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DistrictMountainBiker had a lot of fun. i reckon a good few goes around it to build confidence and i should get better. i have a Cube stereo Ebike and it made the climbs easier by far, even though im pretty fit from road biking anyway and im 29 so still young compared. i reckon i could do this run on that ebike 3-4 times easy in an afternoon effort wise just need the off road skills to grow a set to get over or down some of the more technical sections. you make it look so easy!

  • @RocketMagnetUK
    @RocketMagnetUK 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    One of the historical reasons for not expanding the trail is one of the local villages objects to expansion as it may increase traffic.
    Ultimately the car park is regularly full to capacity so with this and the local issue there isn't much appetite for more trails. Saying this however they have recently just opened a Green graded trail which they said they needed prior to and more red/black/blue, so maybe more to come?
    Top of the South is arguably the most technical and it's just been regraded black as the slab at the top was claiming a few victims along with the difficulty in maintaining the rest of it to keep it red graded. IMO this is a good idea the whole coarse has been reducing in technical challenge over the years with most technical features rocked over or removed.. to be fair some of it was for maintainability but some because people were falling off. IIRC the big rollers on the north final decent were installed a few years ago to slow people down and reduce the air ambulance visits.
    Some good riding skills on show.

    Wow it's so gorgeous! Binge-watching your videos this week, haha. What areas/trails would you recommend in the Lakes for someone who is totally 100% new to mountain biking? I just bought a nice entry level hardtail and I'm not ready for anything super technical or really fast/steep descents yet, but I want to start by taking in some views and just building my confidence and ability, you know what I mean? :D

    • @DistrictMountainBiker
      @DistrictMountainBiker  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha thanks for watching, glad you're enjoying them! Whinlatter has something called the Gorse Trail which is mostly a forest road based loop that takes you to some scenic parts of the forest and gives you some good views without the need for any technical riding. If you're 100% new to mountain biking then that would be a safe way to get used to your new bike while enjoying the scenery. Then you could take a look at the blue route which starts to introduce a few more features and work from there!

    • @indigomoon7848
      @indigomoon7848 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DistrictMountainBiker Hey dude, thanks so much for your reply! :D Ahh that's awesome - I'll definitely check out the Gorse Trail to begin with then! I took my new bike out for the first time today and decided to ride it down some steps. Nearly flew right off, hahaha. Even the blue trails I see on TH-cam look scary to me right now, but I guess with practice that's how you gain some confidence and skill!
