They did a bike check on Dylan Ferrandis’ Yamaha and I remember the mechanic mentioning something about trimming the right side of his handlebar due to him being very control sensitive.
Hey man, it’s really cool that you make these videos for us people that like to work on our own bikes. And do it for the love of the sport not just to sell people stuff. I have a yz250x and thought I had the 2atroke pretty much figured out but your like a wizard with these yz’s. You’re teaching people stuff that you really can’t find anywhere else online. I’m happy for you that you were able to buy your new yz with your TH-cam money. It’s bad ass you sound just like joe dirt too!!! Thanks.
Thanks. Hope your 4th and the weekend has been good! Got the first ride day in on her today. It went very well. The motor is very strong and super crisp, and the suspension was not far off right off the rip. I didnt know what to expect but was pretty surprised. I should have the video on by tomorrow evening. I still have some more tuning to do but its dam close as is which is good.
Bike is turning out great you made out good on that bike just a little work and she's mint. Love the look of modern YZ's. Still have my dads old 96 YZ125 those graphics take me back.
Thanks! Thats too cool you have your dads 96. I remember seeing the 96 YZ125 in the mags back in the day. That was the first year it did better than the CR125. That was the bike to have in 1996.
Right! Surely satisfying. I will be swapping frames on a YZ250f on thurdays (Joey cracked his frame). Its not as fun as a build but wondering if I can get a frame swap done in one day Hmm
Using a pressure washer to clean the bike will cause the rust problems you're seeing. If you use a pressure washer you need to pull things apart and grease them more often.
Hello. The manual for the 125 and 250 in all years says the same as far as function so I think the manual is a generic explanation. But when I check them I'm finding slightly than what the manual states. I also find the 18 and 22 work the same in the same ranges and throttle positions.
What is the break in procedure for a brand new yz250? I’m transitioning from the 250f to the 2 stroke when they release the 2025 bikes and I can’t find a solid answer.
On the hunt for an '06-'15 yz250 to join my '05 yz125 (with '10 SSS forks swapped on). Found a solid '15 model that's 2 hours away with several goodies on it, but the suspension is valved for 180 pounds (I'm 155) and it's got a Lectron carb on it. Feel like I'd rather have the stock Keihin since I've always heard the air stryker Keihin carb is so good. Although I did notice Jared Lesher's yz250 when I was at the Bham supercross was apparently running a Lectron carb, but maybe that's just from sponsorship?
I like the Keihin, its far more quality than the letron. I wouldn't trust the letron on a track bike to be honest. The throttle slide is not chrome coated and they get worn out in the throttle slide area with lots of friction. But you can always convert it back to the Keihin if the price is right.
My yz125 2003 lost some compression an was bogging down so i changed my piston now its fix the ring wasn't stuck dosent make sense this new piston from 2 weeks ago
@@UpAllNight91 Yeah ,it's fix I put one of my old pistons in and it fixed it I ordered new piston numura so I don't understand why my new piston only last 2 weeks the ring was free piston had no damage so I cleaned carb 2 still broke changed reeds still broke notice low compression so I changed piston to one of my old ones that have 25 hours an it fixed it
I see the rear shock don't have the little rubber strap the older models had but it still has the hook part that the strap connect too , that had me thinking i gad lost my strap😅 dose anyone know why its not on the bike anymore???
I think you mean the strap between the frame and the rear of the gas tank. Holy cow I'm just now noticing (thanks to you) that they didnt use that on the 22. Hmm, crazy they got rid of that.
@@UpAllNight91 yea that strap on the gas tank that's it , it is not on my bike it's a 23 model yz i wonder why it's not needed maybe the new style gas tank is more rigged then the old one and having that bit it connects to still on the bike looks kinda ugly , I was thinking of grinding it off 😅
@@zackiaryruddick701 Hmm, yeah not sure why they removed it. But the frame has the same part number so I guess they kept the mount on the frame for it.
Now comes the fun part, adjusting the bike for you. Its easy to spend a day on that . Congratulations on the new bike, it will give you years of enjoyment. 🏜👍
Thanks Bradley. Rode her yesterday, I can say she came out well. Engine is super crisp and suspension came out well. Even though its still a YZ250, it feels like a totally new and different bike lol. I put 2 hours on the clock. It was a great time and cant wait to get her back out next weekend.
Another great video!!!
Thanks!

Ahh. I think I seen that too

Thanks! Joe dirt hahahaha Thats funny lol. Its Joe Deertay lol
Fuel vent line also causes those bearings to get nasty. I keep my vent line zip tied off to the side.
Hey Patrick wanna do 74 next saturday if the rain holds.
Stock jetting? Sounds perfect
Stock pilot, needle, and clip setting. The main is a 172. The head has been rechambered with the squish tightened up which surely helps jetting.
So much info! Glad you had a good 4th, and can't wait to see the tuning process. She sure looks pretty.

Had an 08yz250f with a titanium spring, loved that bike. powerful for a 250f back then
Nice, I had a 2006 and 2007 YZ250f back in the day. Much like the 2008. I agree that was a good bike, reliable too.
@@UpAllNight91 super reliable had good luck with the 5 valve motor and a good bike

Man that gets me fired up to tear down my 05 KX125 again.I did a complete frame off about 8 years ago and its ready for another one.

Looking forward to learning about the mysterious power jet
For sure. Gonna get onto that in about a week. Its surely kinda mysterious lol
Man watching this vid makes me want to retune my yz. Need to for the warmer weather anyway. Looking forward to the next one.
For sure. Excited to try her out tomorrow. I'm hoping she's some strange stronger than normal YZ250. I can dream right lol
Another great video, keep them coming
Thanks Jesse!

For sure. I suspect thats what the original owner did. Thats one of the reasons I resist using a pressure washer myself lol
I believe the POWER JET kit in in a different range of powerband for range for the 18 vs 22 up. It more on top when it activates for 22 and up
