The breakdown in Domination is, imo, perhaps the greatest breakdown of all time. It set the bar for metal for decades to come, and while there are some filthy breaks coming out in modern metal, nothing quite compares to the pounding simplicity of Dime's riff at the end of Domination. Seen them 6 times in Indy and one time in Chicago. Got after show pass March 15th 1995 and went to Vinnie Pauls birthday party. Got to meet everyone and the best part was when Dimebag gave me a couple beers. I'll never forget that night. It was totally fucking awesome
It’s ridiculous. What 4 folks not including the killer died that night? He wasn’t even allowed to own a gun because he was nuts his stupid mother bought it for him….
The chills I have of knowing when I met dime at at download Festival backstage and he said " see you in another life brother! drink on" he would be murdered months later breaks my soul 💔
I can't imagine how Phil feels. Feuding with a friend that died, then that death basically causing Dime's brother to never be able to forgive you, then ultimately losing Vinnie as well with no closure. I'm happy Phil is recovered and in a much better place, because that's a lot of pain jack
Such a loss man. We all know Dimebag was a cream of the crop talent that was a cut above anyone else out there at the time. I almost feel like he didn't even get started down here before God took him home. R.I.P. to those we lost and props to Pantera for filling that alpha dog spot metal needed at the time and props for breaking onto the scene, kicked ass from coast to coast, kept eyes on the prize and maxxed the most!
Hands down the best live band I’ve ever seen. Saw them over a dozen times too. Energy throughout and no front man EVER commanded a crowd like Phil did.
Truth.... every time (18) I've seen them nonstop 1 million percent there and loved putting on a show for the family of fans. Never was a band like them and never will be again
The squeal Dime did on his guitar (dubbed the Dime-squeal) was him doing a pull-off, dropping the whammy and then catching the string on a harmonic with the left hand when pulling the whammy back. All done fairly fast to get that specific squeal Also, if you want to hear a magnificent solo from Dime, i'd recommend Floods, the outro on that is utterly brilliant
Dime himself called them "Squealies" once in video. The 2-1/4 was always the hardest one for me to catch. I really wish I didn't sell all my gear now. 🫤

Pantera's influence on Metal is beyond anyone else's, while the others were trying to go faster or more technical, The Texas Legends showed the world why groove and catchy ass sounds were the top of the top. 🤘
The most iconic metal band of the 1990s, this "Monsters of Rock" in Russia was one of the biggest symbols of the end of communism, and perestroika ended up escaping the control of the Kremlin. Metal invaded the East, broke the frontiers and showed its strength. But, this live version of "Domination" is a little different from the original version, especially on the vocals. Phill Anselmo could never be technically perfect live, and over time he lost his vocal ability. But he was a symbol of his generation. I will never forget the murder of Dimebag on stage, it was so sad.
When you said I’m hoping there’s a solo I almost Peed myself laughing because one of the best solos in the history of metal live especially was on his way💯😂😂😂😂
You should 100% react to Cemetary Gates. It's easily one of the best songs Pantera has ever written. If you react to it though, it has to be the studio version. There is a radio edit that is about 2 minutes shorter than the studio version which is the one you want to avoid. You really get to hear what a great vocalist Phil Anselmo was when he was younger. The dude had some serious pipes at one time.
This Live was watched by approximately 1.6 million people, where in this Live featuring AC/DC, METALLICA, PANTERA, AND THE BLACK CROWES, maybe until now the record for the largest audience in the metal music category has not been broken, and the domination song in my opinion is the mother of breakdown...this Live is called MONSTER OF ROCK...🙏🙏🙏

Besides that this venue was held on the grounds of Tushino Airfield wich was a military base so there were also a LOT of soldiers present to keep things under control literally hitting the crowd with billy clubs. th-cam.com/video/EwkfxYQGF1s/w-d-xo.html

I can tell you from glorious personal experience that a Pantera live set was utterly mind blowing and completely physically EXHAUSTING, and that is just from the fans' perspective. Got to see them live in concert twice. I regret not going to see them more, but hindsight is 20/20. I lived in Dallas for ten years and was also lucky to meet both Dime (in 1996) at Guitar Center in Arlington and Vinne (2008) At Milo's across from Cowboy's stadium in Arlington. They were both just sweet and humble dudes. Dime showed me how to play "I'm Broken." He took the time to sit with 16-year-old me who was just learning how to play. Did a shot with Vinne, thanked him, and then left him alone. The world was a better place when they were in it. RIP Abbott Brothers, You are both Metal Legends.
They were definitely a breakout group and had one of the most unique metal styles at the time. This shit was mind blowing for all of us when it came out. The level of influence this had, you can classify the metal genre as pre-pantera and post-pantera.
@Dragon Ball fans can't read I meant unique, in mainstream metal. Prong was one of those bands people talked about but didn't actually listen to, and I don't even know who Exhorder is. I had some of those friends that knew all the new and upcoming bands, but they were not average. By the time most of us were pumping Cowboys from Hell out of our Kickers, they were starting to catch on in the mainstream world.
@Big Homie Steve The Metal Head Exhorder and Pantera were friends. They both influenced each other, as said so by both bands. The Law came out the same year slightly before Vulgar did. They stopped being glam several years before they even released CFH.
I got to see Pantera live many times. When I was 14 in 1992 I believe White Zombie opened for them. I have an older brother that always took me to concerts and he had a friend that setup for venues. He got is back stage and Dime gave me a pic. It’s black and says Cowboys From Hell on 1 side and Diamond Darrel on the back I still have it. One of the best shows I’ve ever been to! It was at Cincinnati Gardens
Pantera is one of those bands that come along and there will never be any other band like them. Just keep checking them out, they were great. And they are doing shows again to honor the two brothers and the music they made.
Grew up in Ft. Worth, late teens/early 20's in the 90's. Saw Pantera live several dozens of times from their start at Joe's Garage to filling stadiums. Best years of any life.
It's just science... The three heaviest things in the known universe... 1) a Black Hole. 2) Heart of a Neutron Star. 3) Last 90 seconds of Pantera's "Domination".
Pantera influenced almost every modern metal band that exists. They were the first to really bring that just straight fucking groove and the slam style of heaviness that we see in nearly every band with breakdowns in modern music. I've always argued that Pantera essentially started what we know as modern metal, they were a great hybrid of what we have now in terms of heavy and groove in metal, but still were a hold out of the older school guitar solos and musicianship from the 80s. I'd also argue metal music would be different today if Pantera didn't exist.
Ok as I guessed after watching Cementary Gates this was a great reaction to.... And another favorit Pantera song along with Mouth for War, Walk and I guess most of them ;-)
#AileenSenpai This was Moscow 1991. With 1.6 million people in the crowd. The band line-up was AC/DC, Metallica, The Black Crowes, Pantera, and E.S.T. (your reacted to Metallica "Enter Sandman" with this exact same huge crowd) This concert was right after the fall of the Berlin wall and the END of the Soviet Union ( The USSR ) These "Monsters of Rock" were the absolute 1st in history to EVER play ANY concert in Russia. Since before 1991 Russia was a brutal & evil Communist Dictatorship, and they had NEVER allowed ANY concerts of ANY kind until this one. Not even bands in Russia could have even "lawfully" played this kind of music, since any other than none Soviet Russian native music was allowed under communist laws. Public entertainment was NOT even alllowed in ANY form. ANY form of public entertainment, especially these "Monsters of Rock" would have gotten a Life sentence to the Hard labor Soviet Gulag Prisons or death by firing squad during the communist rule if it was before 1991. This it's such a historically awesome moment in history, NOT only because it was 1.6 million in the crowd, (Largest to date) but the more meaningful achievement is because of the fall that brutal & evil communist dictatorship that was responsible for killing 100s & 100s of millions of people, had ENDED. A HUGE piece of the world then had an end to that horrific tyranny & a new start for a promise of healing, prosperity, a new beginning. And this concert was the celebration for it ALL ! Something that NO person in Russia young or old had ever been able to do, much less, had NEVER before even seen ANYTHING like this kind of entertainment. And for EVERY SINGLE citizens it was their VERY FIRST CONCERT EVER in their country. Btw, the concert was actually called the "Monsters of Rock" "For Those About to Rock: Monsters in Moscow" the bands were AC/DC, Metallica, The Black Crowes, Pantera, and E.S.T. Younger generations should know this, once in a lifetime historical event. Everyone should know this. 🎸 🎸 🎸 🎸 🎸 🎸 🎸 🎸 🎸
The thing about Vinnie Paul and his drumming, he hits 100% full force on every skin. He is the number 1 reason outside of mic failure that drum techs have multiple drums ready to go incase a skin breaks. He'd break them every show. Moreover, Vinnie was so accurate with his tempo during live play and recording that not once was he ever required to use a click track or metronome and if there was ever a disagreement on tempo, Vinnie would play "against" a metronome and he was as accurate as it was every single time. The whole band was made of freak talent musicians. Just unreal skill with everything they did.
I met Vinnie multiple times, the first time when I was 19 back in 96. He was one of the most humble people. Always appreciated the fans. He came up to me and shook my hand cuz I happened to be wearing a Pantera shirt that night at the club when he walked in here in Dallas.
Led zeppelin and pantera are my favorite bands ever. Saw them once on their last tour and my father is in one of the early videos. My top 3 are cowboys from hell, slaughtered, and anything off of vulgar display of power because that is a perfect album. Enjoy!
I don't have time to read through all the comments so I'm going to give you a quick little background. Anytime in the late eighties and before they blew up in the cowboys from hell if you would have gave him a case of beer and a bag of weed they would have played in your garage for 3 hours. I have far too much to write when I realized it would be far easier just to have you watched the MTV behind the music Pantera. There is also a tribute DVD called dimevision volume one. Amazing tribute to Dime but in the realization he is gone you will cry. His god-like guitar-playing is only overshadowed by his personality. With all sincerity he was the most beautiful person. If you made it back stage it did not matter whether your name was Madonna or Billy from The cornfields everybody was treated like family. On a side note the first concert that Madonna did after murder she walked up on two stage with a guitar and played Walk with tears in her eyes
there is too much to say about pantera to express my thoughts in one comment. love the video. love the love and appreciation you showed them. i’m gonna have to watch your other videos and see you discover them. it’s great… Pantera never missed, baby! long live dime and vinnie❤
My 1st ever mosh pit was at Pantera back in the early 90s. They had White Zombie opening for them. One of the best metal shows I have ever seen and I have seen a lot
This performance took place at a metal festival in Moscow in 1991 shortly after the fall of the Soviet Union. It was the first time any of the bands on the bill had ever been allowed to play Russia, and the first time any of these concertgoers had seen any of these bands. Edit: The breakdown at the end of Domination is heaviest known thing in the universe.
One thing you just said that SUMS up PANTERA. They look like on stage they are having fun and enjoying themselves! Amen girl! All 4 of them partying their asses off while performing on stage was so Electric. Saw them 9 times and every show was so Amazing 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
My first concert at age 12 was Pantera. I've seen them 17 times and that energy was in every show. Cowboys from he'll, 5 minutes alone, suicide note, this love (first mosh pit song).
That breakdown is what life is all about. Greatest ever. Seeing it live was fucking amazing. I got to see them at least 5 times. That concert n Moscow was 1.6 million people
grew up on Dimebag. fkn love the Abbot brothers. can still remember when Dime died. would suggest reacting to Sepultura live in Barcelona 1991. so brutal. massive sound even though it's in standard a440 tuning. every song is great but songs like Desperate Cry and Dead Embryonic Cells are next level. imho;)
I got the privilege to see pantera 6 times before the break up and dime's passing. The shows were intense! The pits were insane. You got your ass kicked each show. I left a few times bloody and loving every minute of life
You are a metal heads dream girl 🤣 the way you acknowledge everything instrument wise , I'm a guitarist don't give up. This was one of my favorite reviews of Domination Live in Moscow , been a fan since I was 14
I had the pleasure to see Pantera live multiple times growing up. The live shows were an assault on your sencenses. The show with Pantera, Prong, Supltra was 🔥
What makes this performance even more great is that Pantera were still playing small venues and were still unknown and killed it playing in front of a cries of 1.6 million
Just Pantera and 1.6 million close friends... I saw them once long ago and feel somewhat blessed as they weren't around long after that. Cowboys from Hell is a dope song!
I live in Wales UK and was lucky enough to see them twice back in the nineties in Newport best live band I've seen listening to this version does give me shivers though but in a good way
Saw Pantera many times live. Anytime they played this live and the breakdown kicked in the mosh pit would just explode. I sure miss jumping into Pantera's pits. Such great memories.
I want everyone to know that has watched the Pantera concert in Moscow. Has witnessed something supernatural. The CFH Dominated all of the souls in the crowd.
My favorite metal band regular people is a great song ,five minutes alone is amazing, drag the waters, I'm broken ,this love ,art of shredding you can't go wrong with any Pantera song .
As someone who spent their teens attending Pantera shows throughout the mid to late 90's, I can say without a doubt, the live energy was INSANE. Everyone knew we were witnessing the birth of a new era, and we all felt a part of it. It was an amazing time in hardcore history. Another excellent reaction Aileen, subbed. RIP DB-VP 👊🤘
I saw Pantera live 7 times. It would be hard to imagine any band creating the energy that they did. Probably the best show I ever attended was New Years Eve 2001 at The Clubhouse in Dallas TX. It wasn't Pantera, but Dimebag, Vinny, and Rex were there playing with members of Sevendust, Alice in Chains, Slipknot, and a few other bands. I shared a bottle of Jagermaister with Dimebag while they were playing because I had my tub of beer and liquor sitting on the stage. We weren't planning on live music that night. The clubhouse is a strip club that was partially owned by Pantera. They just decided to take over the stripper stage that night and they absolutely rocked the place.

Did a shot with Vinne, thanked him, and then left him alone. The world was a better place when they were in it. RIP Abbott Brothers, You are both Metal Legends.
Sis - you're comments are so musically insightful! Please keep it up, Genius!
They were definitely a breakout group and had one of the most unique metal styles at the time. This shit was mind blowing for all of us when it came out. The level of influence this had, you can classify the metal genre as pre-pantera and post-pantera.
@Dragon Ball fans can't read Yeah nah.
Vinnie Paul’s drums even in a huge arena are like being punched in the chest 😮
What I love about this band is that they sound as good in the studio as in concert! ''Floods'' and ''This Love'' are songs to listen to.
Cant wait to see this reaction. Dime was a god on the guitar
Grew up in Ft. Worth, late teens/early 20's in the 90's. Saw Pantera live several dozens of times from their start at Joe's Garage to filling stadiums. Best years of any life.
If this song doesn't make you want to slam dance tarantula style you've got no pulse!
And another favorit Pantera song along with Mouth for War, Walk and I guess most of them ;-)
Why doesn't Rex ever get the love he deserves? Dude kills that bass!
Joey and Vinnie, two of my favorite drummers. AMAZING artists. Dimebag is on another level, of course.
#AileenSenpai This was Moscow 1991. With 1.6 million people in the crowd. The band line-up was AC/DC, Metallica, The Black Crowes, Pantera, and E.S.T.
(your reacted to Metallica "Enter Sandman" with this exact same huge crowd)
This concert was right after the fall of the Berlin wall and the END of the Soviet Union ( The USSR ) These "Monsters of Rock" were the absolute 1st in history to EVER play ANY concert in Russia.
Btw, the concert was actually called the "Monsters of Rock"
"For Those About to Rock: Monsters in Moscow" the bands were AC/DC, Metallica, The Black Crowes, Pantera, and E.S.T.
Younger generations should know this, once in a lifetime historical event. Everyone should know this.

Enjoy!
Now that you're on the Pantera roller coaster down the rabbit hole, I've officially subscribed, by far my all time favorite band ever
On a side note the first concert that Madonna did after murder she walked up on two stage with a guitar and played Walk with tears in her eyes
there is too much to say about pantera to express my thoughts in one comment. love the video. love the love and appreciation you showed them. i’m gonna have to watch your other videos and see you discover them. it’s great…
Pantera never missed, baby!
long live dime and vinnie❤
My 1st ever mosh pit was at Pantera back in the early 90s. They had White Zombie opening for them. One of the best metal shows I have ever seen and I have seen a lot
This performance took place at a metal festival in Moscow in 1991 shortly after the fall of the Soviet Union. It was the first time any of the bands on the bill had ever been allowed to play Russia, and the first time any of these concertgoers had seen any of these bands.
Edit: The breakdown at the end of Domination is heaviest known thing in the universe.
I love it. Dime is my idole. I love when he bowed with his guitar to the crowd. He always had time to his fans
I was so fortunate to see them live on the 101 proof tour. One of my favorite concerts I've been to.
You have such good musical intuition. It’s refreshing to see these days !
I remember when i was young hearing about how Pantera crowds and mosh pits were ferocious. It was like a legend.
I like how you see the groundwork for the future. You are perfect in this format!
"Those drums need a cigarette after that performance" 🤣🤣 Best comment I've ever heard about this video ♥🤘
I'm so ready for this! Epic.
Been waiting for you to get to this one. Love the reaction and song.
The breakdown at the end is the best Pantera you can get. It just might be the definition of metal.
That concert n Moscow was 1.6 million people
Nail on the head, Aileen. "Growing branches of the tree. Not copying." And like tree branches, bands can also grow in unexpected ways.
YAAHHOOOO, you're doing it!!! Ooooh I can't wait!!
grew up on Dimebag. fkn love the Abbot brothers. can still remember when Dime died.
would suggest reacting to Sepultura live in Barcelona 1991. so brutal. massive sound even though it's in standard a440 tuning. every song is great but songs like Desperate Cry and Dead Embryonic Cells are next level. imho;)
The end breakdown in this song, every time I hear it I always bang my head to. My second favorite Pantera song.
This was one of my favorite reviews of Domination Live in Moscow , been a fan since I was 14
11:57 this one hit me in the feels, one of my many regrets in this lifetime is not getting to experience this legendary band perform live
I had the pleasure to see Pantera live multiple times growing up. The live shows were an assault on your sencenses. The show with Pantera, Prong, Supltra was 🔥
Dimenag tears this tune up!!!
What makes this performance even more great is that Pantera were still playing small venues and were still unknown and killed it playing in front of a cries of 1.6 million
First time watching you. U had me at your intro!!
She's amazing I love her, 1.5 million people there wow!
I saw Pantera in Nashville in 94. It was absolutely epic.
"Get your head outta the gutter".....Hey, You started it with the Drums needed a cigarette, LOL. Great Reaction. you are my newest Favorite.
Just Pantera and 1.6 million close friends... I saw them once long ago and feel somewhat blessed as they weren't around long after that. Cowboys from Hell is a dope song!
I live in Wales UK and was lucky enough to see them twice back in the nineties in Newport best live band I've seen listening to this version does give me shivers though but in a good way
Another great reaction brown eyes. his guitar playing is awesome THREEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!! Only big Pantera fans will get that.
Saw Pantera many times live. Anytime they played this live and the breakdown kicked in the mosh pit would just explode. I sure miss jumping into Pantera's pits. Such great memories.
Im so fuggin happy you are now a Pantera fan!!!
Another great episode!
I met Dime at a show in the 90's.
Such a nice guy!
I've been in that rabbit hole as you put it, for 40 years!! it's about time you joined the party!
Lolll the "horse whinnie" ... that's EXACTLY what that is
I want everyone to know that has watched the Pantera concert in Moscow. Has witnessed something supernatural. The CFH Dominated all of the souls in the crowd.
My favorite metal band regular people is a great song ,five minutes alone is amazing, drag the waters, I'm broken ,this love ,art of shredding you can't go wrong with any Pantera song .
Best vocal performance and solo is Cemetery Gates. Love most of all Panteras material, one of my all time favorite bands.
The branches off of the tree! Best analogy ever!
🤘🙏💛☯️🤘🔥🔥🔥
So grateful I got to see them live in '99. They blew the fucking roof off the place!
Best live performance from Pantera!
Cemetery Gates is amazing guitar work and vocal pairing with solid bass and drums as per most Pantera! 🤘🤘🤘
