I agreed 👍 I have no fucking clue what a burning season mean and here I am come from Myanmar originally but live in US. Many European did this burning season TH-cam idk what the fuck they’re talking about other than you. They don’t explain when, why and how? Thank you!
Thanks for being truthful about the situation here. Not many Vloggers talk about the smoke in depth. A lot of it comes down to; it's much easier/cheaper to pull out a lighter and set fire than it is to remove crop stubble, leaves, trash ETC. EVERY year from the central to the local government, they start programs announcing how to prevent burning, how large the fines will be, alternatives, ETC and every year it's the same.
It really is an issue, it even creeps down here to Bangkok from time to time. I like your air filter, that is a great, simple design. I have three Dyson filters in my house just to keep the indoor air breathable. Looking forward to the start of your bike adventure.
great video, thanks so much, I'm planning to move to Thailand for longer term and bringing my pets with me and this smoky season is starting to scare me a bit !
I am hearing BAND AID 2021 with those lyrics..... truly raw and touching! However yes, that smoke up north is dreadful! Was there 4 years back in Northern Thailand and we were just leaving early March and our last 2-3 days were just challenging. Even the people out on the streets at night were struggling. It further escalates your joys in kick-starting you adventure! Great vlog Paddy!
That Intro was pure greatness 😂 Seriously though, thanks for sharing this video. It’s an important thing to spread awareness on, not just for tourists but primarily the air quality for the locals. We visited Northern Thailand the last two years in February and March and it was rough. Sore throat and sinus issues after only 4 days. Definitely need a good n95 mask 😷 during the Smokey season 💨
Great and informative video Paddy. Thanks for sharing. My daughter was born in Chiang Mai in January... we’ve not been out the house much since! 😢 Looking forward to venturing down South for a bit and of course those first rains of the monsoon season!! 🙏🏼♥️🌧 Take care!
Great video, thanks for being so informative. I have watched videos from other people about Chiang Mai but this is the first one I have seen about smoky season.

Thank you very much for the information. It is very useful for our next trip to Thailand after the pandemic. By the way very beautiful voice and very funny lyrics 😁
555 buddy loved the intro, your talk voice and then the singing 😂 Bud the yearly smoke was very terrible this year as far as i have been told by others. So good you made a video about it 👊 The past 5 hours was Paddy Doyle cathing up time and i just fininshed another 13 video's buddy. Thanks, got to know Paddy a little more 👍 You are now my nr1 thailand vlogger buddy, mister CEO Chris Parker just got down to nr2. Sorry Chris but i will keep watching buddy, seen them all 😉 Anyhow mr new nr1 Paddy Doyle, see you in the next one 👊
I really enjoy videos like this too, that try to explain quite simply all the facets of a problem (causes, how to act when you are confronted to it, what it feels like). We do not live in Wonderland on this Earth, so while it's good to find the positive and fun aspects in everything, it 's also good to have videos that show those aspects too. And anyway, with your style, it's always enjoyable to watch and informative, good or bad stuff
Hi Paddy ! Thanks for your smoky season video, good to know because I wanted to visit Thailand and planning to do sightseeing but I have mild asthma. Take care! Loved watching your shows!!!!👌👌👌❤️❤️❤️from Down Under🦘🦘🦘
Hahahaha we were singing your song for hours after watching this! 😂 Too funny! Can't believe you leave so soon already, so exciting! Looking forward to the adventures! Cheers buddy!
Its hellish during this time of the year in CM. I understand that they have high incidences of respiratory problems in the area as well. Definitely dont come during smoky season. Thank you for this informative vid.
Very informative video. I have not seen this subject come up in any other Thai channel on TH-cam. I live in Colorado and we have forest fires often enough during spring and summer. But the air quality is nowhere near as bad as what you document in your clip....thanks..
Thailand 🇹🇭 is really amazing and always on the top of my Travel list ! Thanks for sharing this wonderful video 😁 Cheers from a travel TH-camr from Switzerland 🇨🇭
Super impressed by your song!! Smoke is so hard to deal with, thank you for sharing. Washington state has only had to deal with 3-4 months in the summer that last few years... but nothing like what California goes through.
Fab video Paddy, Loved the singing! Very comical spin to the video, it’s great how transparent you are being and always good to know these tips and will come in handy when we visit Thailand in the future
If only the Thai government helped the farmers to do alternative ways not have to burn, in Western countries we don’t have this problem because we have the means not to have to burn.
EXCELLENT video, Paddy! Best video on the subject yet. I plan to move south each year, built into the plan for return. Never again staying in that mess!
@@PaddyDoyle. FYI, there is no need to burn in order to grow the mushrooms. They grow naturally. It is just easier to SEE them on the blackened ground when they grow. It's cheating, and works fine in areas like Northwestern America which is wet most of the time. But not good in a place like CM.
Check out the air purifiers for sale on lazada, they cost 600baht, very good. Measured with PM2.5 meters. Don't get the fancy display, just the 6 buttons one. I have tested them and they are the best in my opinion. Get yourself a Xiaomi or other PM2.5 meter so you can see the room PM2.5 level, make sure it's under 20ppm.
Exactly what week in February does this start? I have the travel bug to visit from U.S..All I need is 1 week in Chiangmai. Never been but I am an art lover.
Hey Paddy thanks for the more informative reasons of the smoke in Thailand. I remember the difference in the season. We came in December and January and then came back in April and it was horrific. By the way love the vocals on the background music😜

Great useful info as usual ~ big thanks! So, is there a place u suggest to retire in Thailand? i.e. June to October Chiang Mai, Nov. to end of May elsewhere?
Ive been in Nakon Sawan province for 15 yrs...we're due an influx of Thais from Issan from the North East of Thailand ( bit like fruit pickers back home in UK )...to cut and burn the sugar cane fields..but last couple of years i have noticed they are starting to be replaced by mechanical sugar cane cutters...because the sugar cane leaves are quite sharp..they set fire to the sugar cane fields..to get rid of the sharpness of the leaves and surplus overgrowth and snakes before they can cut the cane..and then they burn any surplus ready to cultivate the next crop..but with the mechanical cutters there is no need to burn before cutting...but by doing it this way its taking the livihood away from the many Issan that rely on this method to make ends meet...its the same as back home...no more corner shops..they been takin over by 7-11 and such....sad but true...😉
Might see you in the deep south of Thailand next month Paddy as I'm escaping Chiang Mai and doing a bike tour around there for a couple of weeks or maybe longer! Love the music. Great vid.
