    Thank you for the video! You should try to make a video on win-capture-audio.
    It's an OBS plugin that specifically does this function of capturing audio from a specific application, rather than the system's audio as a whole. It's so easy to use and super helpful. I think the OBS dev team plan to implement it in the official build!

      I figured it out dude! GO into settings on OBS, change the "monitoring device" drop down selection to your headset. Then go ahead and in Windows, set your default audio output device to something you can't hear, or isn't connected, or even another Virtual cable. Then when you "Monitor only (no output)" on OBS, it means it WON'T double up on desktop audio!

    *VB Audio Cable Output not showing any sound in OBS? Here's the solution that worked for me!*
    1. Follow TVN's guide up to 2:55.
    2. Next right click on your Volume icon in the Taskbar again and click on Sounds in the drop-down menu that appears.
    3. Go to the Playback tab of the window that just appeared. Find VB Audio Cable, double-click on it.
    4. A new window should appear. Click on the Advanced tab and ensure the sample rate of the VB Audio Cable is the same as the sample rate for your headphones e.g. 41.5k Hz.
    5. And finally, close and reopen BOTH your OBS and music player. At first I only closed and re-opened OBS but re-opening iTunes solved my problem.

    ok this is a year old and obs has added and can now detect audio from programs e.g. discord or games. add a source as "application audio capture (beta)" adds them individually so now as a source. my audio is all set to disabled but mic/aux audio set to headset mic. which makes things easier then going here here here here here to change stuff when its just adding and then done now cos it takes the audio from the program directly without having to reroute.

    I have a big problem: when I turn volume down through OBS with the Audio Mixer, then the most I turn it down, the worst it sounds in the final video. Audio sounds like when you record with an external mic the sound from a computer/smartphone, like it really sounds disgusting and with a kind of an echo. I literally only can turn volume down till -3.0dB.
    Problem is that my voice sounds almost at the same level as the Desktop Audio, so if I wanna stream/record playing a game or watching videos, that's impossible as users listen more to the desktop than my voice.

    Hi there, I’m having a reoccurring issue. OBS only wants to record one or the other when it comes to my desktop and mic audio. I’ve tried switching things around but nothing seems to be working. I’m using the Razor Kraken Kitty headset on my pc and the specifics are a bit odd when trying to record. Desktop audio works with “Speakers (Razer Kraken Kitty Edition)” and mic audio only works with “Microphone Array (Realtek(R) Audio)” - but even vocal audio is only displaying in one side of my headset. Would love to be able to record with all audio at the same time so any advice is much appreciated❤️

      I’ve been having the same issue did you ever figure it out?

  • @since9632
    @since9632 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    im confused.
    i don't understand the concept of monitoring the spotify mic/aux just for it to show up on the desktop audio signal. if its gonna be part of the desktop audio output then there was no point in making its own device in OBS just to adjust the volume in OBS when you can just adjust the volume in spotify. i understand how this would be useful only if you want to output spotify in the stream but not hear it yourself (monitor off). but if you're monitoring spotify and its affecting the desktop audio, its a bit counterproductive. it also leads to two OBS inputs (desktop audio & spotify mic/aux) outputting the same audio, which is double the volume essentially. correct me if i'm wrong.
    now, i'm only bringing this up because it relates to what i need help with. I mainly want spotify to be its own input so i can exclude it from the twitch VOD in OBS settings. I get as far as making it its own input and being able to remove it from the twitch VOD, BUT I want to be able to hear the music while I'm streaming. Which would require me monitoring the audio in OBS, which ends up outputting in the desktop audio, making the whole process useless. help!

    • @TheVideoNerd
      @TheVideoNerd  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You could remove the desktop audio source & send everything you're doing on stream to a separate device (if 3 audio sources are enough). ex: game, music + 1 thing (voice or chrome etc).
      If you want really advanced control of where everything is going etc, you should watch my voicemeeter banana tutorial. That's more complicated but it'll do exactly what you're looking for :) Deciding what goes to your stream and what goes to your headset.

    So, I want to record browser footage (D&D sessions) - I use Discord with my friends to talk, and roll20 to play the game on... Is there a way to record the music of the game on roll20, and also the audio/voice chat in discord? - using only one or two sources?
    I don't stream, I only record, but my last recording I done today, whilst I was logged into discord chatroom, it recorded my footage but gave me horrible feedback looping - so where am I going wrong?
    I don't use a headset either, everything is recorded and heard via my speakers... The music and voice is played through my speakers, into the microphone, and recorded onto OBS from there, but being in a discord chat seems to ruin that.

    Greetings Video Nerd - Two questions. 1) Will this also work in StreamLabs Desktop (Formerly Streamlabs OBS) and 2) Can you do the same thing with the NDI Source so that it does not play on the desktop audio track. Thanks in advance and love the channel.
