    My first car was a 1984 SVO. I
    bought it my sophomore year of high school. I am 43 now and still have her. My son has a 1985 SVO as well. After several renditions including car audio with 6 10” subwoofers🤣 to auto cross then drag and now Street/daily. I’ve done everything in my garage never taking it to a shop. I was under the impression I could fabricate. This video has shown me the difference between a professional(you) and myself. your fabrication skills are great you already know that but the modifications were so damn clean and thought out ,nothing looks out of place!
    Thank you for sharing ,Dennis

      I don't know if I would call myself a professional at anything but thanks for the complement :) My fabrication skills came from working many years in the car audio world. Thanks for sharing your story.

    I did a 2015 Ecoboost Mustang build. The bock is decked a sleeved. Went with a Ford Performance turbo and a fabricated high pressure fuel pump. NHRA stock eliminator has very strict rules but I'm OK with that. I'm fine with a 10 second build. Takes only minutes to switch from race to a street tune. 34mpg on the highway!
    Note: Ecoboost owners, the stock block is at the ragged edge at 400hp improve the clutch and swap in some proper axels.

      What's the end goal? Most important things, 1: Engine Management. 2: More fuel pump and injector than you think you need. 3: Use a good turbo and sized for what you need. 4: Don't use a cam with more than 30 degrees of overlap if you plan to street drive it often. Between 0 and 30 is good but not less than 0.

    I have a 2.3 non turbo in a lotus that has been pretty heavily modified, but I'm having trouble with vapor locking i suspect, or maybe bad timing. My issue is whenever I step on the gas, the car hesitates, almost sounds like its misfiring for a second, then it takes off like a rocket. It'll do that every time, no matter what, but even more concerning is when I drive it and it warms up, or its 90+ outside, I wont even need to stomp it, and it'll have that same misfiring sound and huge loss of power. Any ideas of what it could be or how I can fix it? More details I'm aware of: compression ratio is 12.75, it has a custom built cam, massive dual Webber barbs, Holley electric fuel pump, brand new fuel distributer, and some old ignition system that fires the spark plug twice per rotation, one when it should, on the compression stroke, and again on the exhaust stroke (supposedly to increase horsepower and efficiency) any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

      Basically ditch the pcv and gut the filter container that's pressed into the block. Use at least a -12 hose from the block to the can. Modify the valve cover vent so you can attach a -10 or -12 hose and run that to the can. You can also use the fuel pump block off plate to vent the block. The more air you can vent off the better in my opinion.

      @@svojon thanks. From your videos it looks like you know this motor in and out. what do you think about the pimp stand alone and this motor running 18 lbs with bopart valves, cam. will it be reliable?

    • @svojon
      @svojon  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@earledney1942 Which turbo are you using? Yes these engines are very reliable assuming you have good spark and fuel control. The PIMP or any aftermarket ecu is good to have. The stock ecu's can work if you know how to hack them, aftermarket is much easier to use. I'm pretty sure Boport uses Ferrea valves and those are good. Stock size (diameter) is what I use. There's no reason to go larger. For the camshaft, I prefer at least 240 @ 0.050 and .550 lift on the Intake side using the large Esslinger solid lifters. The Exhaust side can be less duration and lift for better torque down low. The iron d-port head needs to be modified to use the large Esslinger lifters which are used on the aluminum heads.

    Does everyone want to be a music DJ? Do you think your video wouldn't be as good if you didn't have music.? Showing somebody welding building actually making it and the sounds of it. The sound from that would be better.
