You are a warrior,i break bolts loose, spray with lub ,and use an air ratchet to spin out the bolts..my hands get tired..i let the ratchet do the grunt work:):).. happy to see another mustang guy..im retired from ford and have a garage full of mustangs myself..one of them is an 86. It's a convertible..
I do use air tools however on camera they are a bit loud. :) I am an ex Air Force jet engine mechanic and air tools are frowned upon in that environment at least they were. Thanks for watching!
I saw your brother in law last week, and found out you were working on this... probably my favorite mustang ever! Can't wait to see this SVO. Hope to see you at CAD tomorrow.
Always appreciate videos on the old turbo Fords. My brother and I both have LX Mustangs with transplanted 2.3T engines. As far as changing T5 fluid, I believe you can use a funnel with a long hose and gravity refill easily from the engine compartment.
Great video Tony, your OCD will have that car running and driving like a dream shortly. Thanks for the content, it about time for another live feed. Take care, Anthony
Good stuff Tony! I betcha it is the traction lok clutchs are sreeching n chattering, new lube & friction modifier should do it. You might need to drive it in circles for a bit to get the new fluid worked into the clutchs. You need a suction gun for adding & sucking out fluids, they work good especially for tight areas like that trans fill. They kinda look like a grease gun, but buy a good one, like a lincoln brand, the cheap ones leak. And a set of allen sockets. And some power tools! Ha. I like to tell peoples, i know how to spin bolts, i dont need any more practice! But of course i do it for a living too.
Thanks for the tip. I agree it's the clutches I think the new fluid and Friction modifier will do the trick. I wanted to all the old fluid out of this car including what was in the tubes so pulling the axles wasn't a complete waste of time. I would bet dollars to doughnuts it has never been changed. I'll look into suction gun. I do have power tools but the are air tools and on camera well they are bit noisy. I could use Allen sockets now that I am getting into newer cars (1986 is newer to me). Most of my toys have been pre 1975 and all have been domestic so I really haven't that much of a need.
It's no longer called Tranny Fluid, it's Gender Neutral Shift Juice..... Just trying to help keep you from being canceled!!! Love the car and the content.
Great video, I would like to get another factory stock SVO. My 85 has highly modified, with a 351w, TKO 500, 8.8 -3L55, and a lot more. These cars are awesome in my opinion. There just a little hard to find affordable parts for. 😊
People service the rear ends on their cars??? Looks like the car you bought is a great candidate for a complete go through and replacement of all fluids. Looking forward to seeing this thing on the road!
@@oneninerniner3427 I'm pretty sure that's the first time that plug has been out since the car was new. :) Plus I grab that pipe the second something won't spin loose. No sense making it harder than it needs to be.
@@TonysFordsandMustangs yup, I do it too. I have several home made ones of different sizes. I actually bought a specially made cheater bar off the tool truck. That's what they're often called cheater bars lol

I bought a used demo SVO Silver 1984 LTD LX 4 Dr with the 5.0 Mustang V8 in 1984. It had been in testing by Ford as a training car for NASCAR Racing. Best deal ever! A rocket on wheels. Dual oil sump with 2 drain plugs and a rocker arm around the oil sump. Anyone know the history of the LTD LX models?
It wasn't so much the geometry as it was the balance, spring rates, & shocks. The 2.3 weighs less than the 5.0 and it sits back in the engine compartment. Adjustable Koni shocks, higher rate springs and bigger sway bars were added to car.
Nice video Tony. Remember" chrome don't get you home"
Thanks you sir and thanks for watching!
Thanks for making this series 😊 I just bought an 86 SVO near me that I absolutely love
Well I'm right there with you! Thanks for watching!
Great to see content on the SVO, i sure do miss mine. They are truly unique Fox Body's. Glad i came across your channel
Welcome aboard and thanks for watching!
It will be Cool 😎 to see this SVO back in roadworthy shape...
Stay tuned. :)

Great video. One of the projects on my list if ever I had the time
So far so good. Thanks for watching!
great progress, can't wait to see future videos.
There's more to come. I hope to get these wireless mics figured out so the audio level is better! Thanks for watching!

Thanks Anthony!
I FREAKIN' love SVOs! Image how powerful those and the TURBO COUPE T-BIRDS would be with the modern 4 cylinders!?!?! DARE I SAY, TOTALLY RAD!!!!!!
Thank you sir! and thanks for watching!
Didn't know the T5 used ATF.
That's what it calls for.

Another great video Tony! Hopefully you've got at least a window AC unit in the garage 🤞🙏
Thanks Wes! No sir weight loss plan. 90 degrees and 92% humidity FTW!

I guess I need to adjust the term I normally use for "wire cutters" as well?
Thanks for having us over Tony!
Any time!
Such a great video on the progress of this cool car, brother. Looking forward to watching more progress on this car. Have a great weekend, brother.

Out in the garage sauna again today. :)
Yeah those plugs dont need to be that tight.
The noises were for dramatic effect. They are snug. :)
@@TonysFordsandMustangs I know but you had a pipe on the end of the wrench to get the plug loose! :)

Take good care of that transmission. The blocker rings, bearings, etc. are available but the special ratio gears are not.
Thanks for the info!

"Interesting" is the correct word. :) Thanks for watching!
