I'm back. I really like the spring loaded pliers. Non replaceable cutters like my Leatherman Rebar, but economical price point. Scissors are nice to have, someone always asking me for Scissors. Serrated blade i cherish for cutting cordage. Lol "saw for cutting a tree layen across the road". No threading eye in reamer/awl tool, wish it had an eye. There is a clip&carry kydex sheath for it. So if you keep the Suspension oiled, cleaned, sharpened & adjust the pivots a lil, it's a great tool. The military Gerber MP600 & the Suspension NXT are good tools as well.
I had the same model for 5 years as leisure mountain campers. Fun interesting it is so useful at my job on construction site. (😂sometimes cut wire and barrier and fence to gain safety access ) I always keep it in my office deck or bag 💼 instead.😮😊
I lent mine to a friend in the national guard who carried it when stationed in new mexico. he beat the crap out of this thing and i still use it as my primary multitool. theyre great for the money.
all the tools lock in place, not just the blades/saws. I found the unlocking mechanism a bit difficult to use, and you'd need to press down both sides of the handle, not just one side. the tools are solid tho for the cost of the tool. but you also could find something slightly better to use.
I was fortunate enough to find one in the street. One side with the serrated blade is hard to get out cuz someone prolly used the butt end as a hammer, lol! Put a paracord diamond knot lanyard with a Spartan bead on it, attached with a mini Niteize S beaner, so I can remove it quick if I have to. Rocking it in a camo magazine pouch with molle attachment. Loadout for my work EDC.
Oh man, I remember when I could get a Suspension from Wally World for $25 and the Leatherman Wingman was $30 at Wally World. Probably close to 8 years ago now. How times have changed. Bought 2 of each over a couple weeks time to put into kits and vehicles at that time. Still have them around but not sure I'd ever hard use them. They function as emergency use only, but we've got them if we need them. Can't believe this video shows in my suggestions 3 years after you posting. 😂
I've had one of these since 2009. They do seem to get ragged on way more than I think is fair. It was a cheap replacement for my Leatherman Wave - is it a Wave replacement - well no. But is it very capable for its price - yup. I've used mine extensively for years - and did everything that was ever required of it. Even had an issue with it and was replaced by Gerber no issues (so customer service is good). My only gripes... Heavy for its size (its quite a dense tool) / blades are on the small side and grinds are quite shallow - saw is short but does work quite well - would really like to have seen a file instead of the serrated blade - and honestly an adaptor for a bit driver using the the large flat or phillips would make this extremely capable.
Love this tool, but I'm rocking the newer one the Suspension NXT, rock solid multi tool, best cheaper alternative to Leatherman with just the same quality. Gerber is Gerber no matter what, materials are from USA but only assembled in China.
Typically it's the other way around from my understanding and I'm going to have to say that Leatherman for the most part makes better tools but yeah the Gerber stuff is solid!
I agree this tool is great and has held up perfectly for me for over 12yrs. I have no Hate towards Leatherman and own some Leatherman stuff, but there are many tool's that easily out perform them. Leatherman has a cult following and those diehards will always hold them at the top of a list no matter what. I've had to return a Leatherman multitool I have for repair a couple time's but never had to do that with my other brands I own.
I got this for free I also got a dime and a Gerber prybar for free. My nephew works for GERBER and they put something on his desk every Friday. He said it is an outstanding company and a great job . He loves it there
Iv had my suspension for over 15 years haha i think since when they first came out and its awesome, mine came with a bit kit and the sheeth was made to hold the bits as well way better then that one and the adapter.
I have this the wingman the sidekick the super tool 300 and the center drive. The suspension is better then the 2 cheaper Leatherman. The super tool 300 with bit kit is my favorite
@@TerriblyTactical to be honest I just compared it to the wingman and the sidekick. The only thing better would be the wire cutters. Now that I put all 3 together you can feel the difference in quality. I stand corrected
i own(ed) better tools like Swisstool and Surge, but yesterday i needed to cut a special wire and the best result was obtained with Suspension. i think its better for softer materials. for its price its good.
Leatherman isn't what it's all made up too be, yes they do produce some nice stuff. But there are dozens of video's that show many other brands including what I'm against knock offs aka clones that have out down Leatherman and some ways. I've had this tool since it came out and it's been heavily used over the year's and everything still works and performs perfectly. My point is that not everything produced in China is garbage. My sheath was better then what you're multitool came with, mine has a solid button snap for ease of attaching it to belt or wherever you want it. I do agree that ballistic tag on a nylon sheath is kinda silly. But all in all I own many brands including Leatherman and they all have their place. But it's definitely far from cheap cause I've used and abused this tool for a good 12 plus year's easily.
hey, im a wildlife conservationist but also a teenage girl so those huge leathermans looked a little overwhelming for me- this is perfect! cant wait to oick mine up from the hardware store tomorrow thanks for the reveiw it was very helpful
Mate please tell me, I’m struggling with my decision to buy the Leatherman Rebar or the Gerber Suspension (maybe also the new NXT). I wont use it often and i like the scissors, so the Gerber is interesting but on the other hand there is the quality of leatherman.. Tell me, which should I buy?

I have had my gerber suspension for 10 years so far and it works just fine
That's good to know! Thanks for watching!
Same mine is easily over 12yrs old and still running solid.

Really good locking mechanism, I once used this as a assassins creed rope line holder so I can go across it.
😆 🤣 😂
Fair review. Thank you

It's still relevant I guess hahah!
I picked up a few of the cheap gerbers this year just for extra bags for the wife, kid, buddy set up. Decent better than nothing.
Exactly.

Thanks for the vid - got one for my birthday, and was looking for help on opening it all up.
Awesome! Happy birthday and thanks for watching!
Looks like it would be good to have around. Glove box , tackle box . Price is right, always good to have extra stuff!
Indeed pard!

what do i do if i put all the tools up at once and now its stuck
Lol un stick it!
Good review
Thank you sir!
I’ve had mine for about 10yrs, light usage. I discovered a crack today on the scissor side. It runs through the “B” in Gerber.
No good!
The knife is that sharp that my friend didn’t even notice he got cut
Yeah when they're super sharp like that they produce such a clean cut that you don't feel it. Kinda scary sometimes hahaha
I peel my oranges with it cause I'm surrounded by maarish with no strength serum, but. Now I get to use it, I ingested it
Lol what
I don’t know who’s right but I just read that Gerber knives and tools have been made in Portland Oregon since 1939..? enlighten me if this is false.
They definitely have Chinese products 100%
i own(ed) better tools like Swisstool and Surge, but yesterday i needed to cut a special wire and the best result was obtained with Suspension. i think its better for softer materials. for its price its good.
Yeah I'm not mad at it but definitely not a leatherman.
Everything is made of tungsten
Lol I don't think so

Bro this is $28 on Amazon, the Wingman is $70. They aren’t even close in price.
When I was buying my wingman it was like 34 bucks. Many years ago but yeah.
Bro this video was posted 3 years ago and prices have changed in said 3 years 😂
@@chrisehli444 yeah
I agree with you on the “BALLISTIC” nylon. It’s such a meaningless word. Just like “TACTICAL”
Lol indeed
It locks well the mechanism to put shit back in takes a while, you'll see
Perhaps
So, do we need to get a Leatherman sidekick and test them head to head? Double the price, but the cheapest comparable Leatherman.
Dude my wingman is comparable to this all day long
But yes we should indeed!
@@TerriblyTactical I meant comparable in size, not utility.
@@TacticalScales the wingman is like the same size?
You are right, I was thinking of a different one.
Doesn't look cheap at all, and has a very nice smooth action accessing the tools. Seems a very anti-gerber, pro-leatherman review
Lol
Only a fool would say it’s better than a leather man
When did I say that?
You already loved leatherman a lot since the beginning I don't think the review is fair ever since.
😆
The best of the best. EDC, sogs are disposable but sharper, sog for army, gerber for civilian use. Last a life time I've had mine for 15 years.
Nice nice
would always pay the extra to support jobs outside of china /my suggestion save your money for the leatherman /you will feel better in your heart
Amen to that

Lol much appreciated
Got mine for £30 :)
Good price
Truper NAMU-100
?
Probably the worse multitool… locking mechanism almost imposing to release. DO NOT BUY THIS
Get stronger
most important spec on this is made in china !!!!!!!!!!
Made in China indeed
