I always assumed that the O2 gauge worked. Never knew that it was broken. XD
it used to work, I've suffocated in older patches but I cant remember when it was broken.
Its SC of course its broken.
Yeah I noticed when I escaped from Klesher for the first time… All the videos I watched showed people suffocating if they didn’t get to the rover in time. I had no problem running 10k to the closest landing pad when the rovers didn’t spawn…
What i dont get is why it doesnt seem to recharge when you get back into an area with atmosphere

It'll come in time, but ye agree should have been integral.
Edit: although being devils advocate you can't fill pressurized cylinders just by opening them to atmo, you need a compressor irl.

I remember when O2 was a consideration, but like you said, it's been years. I can't remember the last time I ran out. It'll be interesting to see how it goes in 3.23.

I noticed the o2 depletion but not the gauge. The verse is going to feel much bigger, without changing size at all. 👍
finally a use for those pens always had one on me just in case but really never need it and just another thing add for med game play
About 6.5-8 hours? As long as the oxygen tank can keep the astronauts breathing for a long time, they can survive in the space suit. At present, the two oxygen tanks and emergency oxygen supply system in the extravehicular space suit (EMU) commonly used by astronauts can provide 6.5-8 hours of oxygen supply.
star citizen is Regressing tech wise we have better systems in our space suits Today and we dont have no cutty reds or connies
So the Mule will become a exploration vehicle now. Mule, Ursa (and variants) and I think one of the x-1 hoverbikes is enclosed. Maybe a huge new Centurion or Ballista exploration version, but few ships can carry those. This will probably come when they release the G12 Tesla like truck to incentivize sales.
If this function works too quickly it will be the end of star citizen, chris keeps trying to make this game into a survuval game and it sucks, i try to think of tech 900 years into the future and we have functions that don't make sense, food that only sustains us for an hour, we have flashlights that are dimmer than my keychain light i carry today, we have to land our own aircraft, a function that planes do now on their own, and now an O2 system that looks like it bugs out in 5 minutes, with the technology of a space suit, we've apparently forgotten O2 scrubbers that we use today in scuba, and the fact that our current space suits carry hours and hours of O2 .. I swear, Chris has to be Autistic sometimes, focusing on some of the worst buzz kill mechanics in the game
Last time I went out to stroll on Magda - I used my health level instead of oxygen. About 50% of gauge for 5 sec. FIgured out that light helmet doesn't work well with medium armor suit.
It was always working, oxy have been depleting in non breathable environments, from time to time there were bugs like no air in specific ship cockpit or turret, so you had to not spen too long in such places, tho it was replenishing automatically in breathable spaces without taking off your helmet or oxy pens, maybe that's why you didn't notice it
A few evenings ago...I noticed my oxygen running out while wearing a helmet in Port Tressler.
I thought it was a bug.
One can assign a keyboard shortcut for helmet removal. It's been a while since I had to worry about oxygen, and from memory, it used to deplete rather quickly. If the ship ramp is open, does it treat that area as depressurised, and is there a wait time until oxygen is returned to the space?
Long ago the oxypen was used to refill your oxygen. However the oxygen didn't refill in ships or in atmosphere so it was removed.
Cool, I already can’t eat or drink and 40% of the time I can’t open the door to the med bay to replenish…might as well add o2 to the list of hurdles.
There's a keybind for attaching helmet to hip that would work, too. I think it is alt + H by default.
If they want to make oxygen a usable they need to give us the ability to root our helmets to our suits
Oxypens seem to barely restore any oxygen. Idk if that's a bug

I hear ship inventories are getting physicalized this cargo update too, that’s in conjunction with the oxygen is really going to make suit lockers a MUST, we need those working sooner rather than later

Last I saw it working was like 3.8. Got the new character status icons and stuff for food and drink and O2 came with that same style icon. Before that it was 2 lines. A tank O2 line and a suit O2 line. Back then I am pretty sure it refilled O2 anytime inside a place with O2 to breathe. I am not sure where the O2 reservoir is on our space suits but it is odd that the oxypen is an injection and not a small replaceable canister we put into a slot on our gear. Would make sense as a fluid canister that filters our CO2 we exhale and turns it into breathable air. This would make it a depletable resource much like ammo. Stash them in your backpack or on your belt for quick access.

Yeah, been away from SC for a few years. Finally got a 7800x3d and 4070s new computer so getting back into it. Been watching mostly gameplay and machinima SC vids for a while.

It's my favourite ship...
I noticed it yesterday trekking back to my ship on Lyria and it got down to about 6%, I was panting heavily and barely made it back to my ship, a fighter. In the ship I couldn’t take off my helmet but it did slowly start to go up again. Once I left the ship I started panting heavily despite the higher level and even after getting to med bay and fully recharging O2 the panting didn’t stop so this needs work.
It used to work in klescher and it made hitting the lower level fun af! Glad it’s back.

Yea the direction this game is headed the majority of the game play is simply going to be trying to stay alive and not starve, go to long without water or air or otherwise some other BS mechanic they are cramming into the game! Next we will probably have to take a dump or die of constipation!

It’s always been the plan, people are getting way to comfortable with it being to easy because it’s still an alpha and start throwing their toys out of the pram when it gets built properly because the didn’t do their research. I can’t wait for ppl’s reactions when death of a spaceman come in lol
Sign me up. Plebs want it too easy now, then they will complain it's too easy and not real enough. I want the game to be painful for the stupid and lazy.
