In the near future, if you are alone and want to move 32 scu containers you can do it only with an Argo ATLS or with a ship with a tractor beam. Alternatively you need 2 people with max lift. Multitool will lift max 8 scu and 16 scu if paired with another one.
I expect all tractor beams to get further tweaks. The ATLS mode, would make sense to be a mode on all the beams, to help prevent mouse-wheel induced RSI.
For short distances (a few metres) when the mouse wheel needs a short, precise movement that is okay; the pain (literally) comes when moving a container needs 20+ rapid spins to shift the container - and for multiple containers.
You're right about how much things bang around - ships *were* exploding initially, then CIG made a change so that when a cargo box is being held/moved with a tractor beam, it will do no damage to your ship. So as long as you simply click to move it and let it finish putting the box into position, you don't have to worry about the ship exploding. I don't know if that will remain permanent, but CIG very quickly seemed to realize that if they didn't do something *now*, NOBODY would be using the ATLS. 😆
I had the opposite experience, but I was moving hauling cargo in my C2. I ended up standing just at the top of the ramp of the C2 so I could see my hold and the elevator, I'd just chuck things back and forth and the tidy them up once the majority were where they needed to be.
Yes the middle mouse button straightens the box and ship alignment to the containers makes a big difference. It also needs a clear path for the box. I’ve found it better to make adjust with short movements of the box, it’ll move the box a short distance without bringing the box all the way to the ATLS every time. You just pick a nearby spot and click again and it moves if there instantly.
ATLS does need some work. It needs some fine tuning to keep from banging into walls. My C1's cargo door is all scarred up from just loading cargo. It's not registered as damage, as I can't repair it, but it is an eyesore.
it needs a lot of work, I tried to load my C2 with the ATLS I just ended up loading it with a max lift then I unloaded it with the ATLS but even tho I used the manual tractor beam at times.
It really sucks for ships, I have not been able to stack containers on top of each other at all with it and when you are inside a ship? You can't even see anything you are doing because the damn box is right there in the middle of your view! Filling a C2 with 24SCU boxes is much faster with a MaxLift, simply because you need to step in and out of the ATLS FOURTEEN TIMES to fill up a C2. This means you are wasting a lot of time looking at the slow ass animations Star Citizen likes to use for everything. It is also super slow to move around, so you want to position it beforehand and then you still have to run back and forth to operate the terminal that should just be controllable from the ATLS or mobiGlass!
What am I looking at? There are audio Technica ATH closed back headphones now? Are they completely terrible? Well I guess even the open ones are terrible since they don't have removable cables but they do sound good for the price.
Dude try learning how it works I can sling 32 scu with the atlas with some jank if I mess up, I load my c2 all the time with it. If I mess up I'll do a hand held
Yeah, ATLS sucks! I actually just decided it's worth the money to pay for them to load/unload for me :). In a pinch, my C2 where the place doesn't to autoload, I will hold 26 x 24 SCU containers and I move on. Filling it to the full 696 takes almost an hour, but 625 takes only about 10-15 minutes :).
It's even worse for a constellation because it's a tighter space I found you can only use it for unloading in the warehouse. You need both beam modes on all tools if you ask me

Not being able to see in front of you is annoying. The cargo needs to be transparent when loading.
Absolutely agree

Yeah, that.

I strongly encourage you to watch a few ATLS vids.... I think it will change your mind once you see the optimal way of using it. - just saying

I hear cargo banging around like that, I expect fireworks.

LOL... Per DEVs Containers dont harm ship with tractor on. They need a normal operation beam mode.
weird pre-recorded gameplay reaction video, but ok

Try loading from the ramp
Yeah, I nearly destroyed my Taurus trying to load with the Atlas. It needs a lot of work
CIG in all of its glory

Could you not change the key-bind so that you have to hold a mouse button instead of scrolling?
Didn't they turn off the damage when using the Atls? I seem to recall seeing that somewhere.
Yes as long as its in the beam no collision damage
Actually, they did it for any tractor beam, as I understand it.
you need more time in the seat. Your handling skills need polishing. Use the mousewheel
Mouse wheel doesn´t work in Atlas suit.
@@brunodelerariesgo7285 when it ghost to show position on the grid the mouse wheel does indeed work.
@@brunodelerariesgo7285 I beg to differ. I use it to position the holo box into the grid.
So the latest successful cash grab by cig has issues. I wish I could say I was surprised by both of these. I will just stick with hand helds and auto.
Yea the floating box blocks your site
It works with a Connie but I don’t see using it with a C2
I use it primary on a c2

I can load /unload with a atlas on a c2 is 30 min with needing to manually adjust which is me mixing the mark

Yes I can load and unload with a atlas in a c2 but it the crate lands wrong I need to switch to precision hand tools
I rather spin the mousewheel then to unload with the ATLS....it's completly unusable
