A technical writer is someone who writes company documents such as instruction manuals, intermediate to end-user manuals, reference guides, operating procedure guides, white papers, and technical product descriptions.
Technical writers can work as documentation specialists, creating and updating company paperwork related to training, and developing technical staff.
Depending on their specific area of expertise, technical writers may also write journal articles, occupational outlook handbooks, and other high-quality documentation.
Here are technical writer responsibilities at a glance:
-Research technical information related to their company or department's field of operation
-Plan technical document development according to company needs
-Compile information by order of usability
-Develop and/or edit the required documentation
-Organize all technical documents into the database and make copies for data security
-Maintain a detailed glossary/library of technical terms and documents at all times
Other than these, some writers may have more specific responsibilities pertaining to their professional field. This makes it a diverse job with varying duties.

I just got started on my technical writing journey, and your videos have been helpful in providing clarity to me about the skill.
Suggestion, you need some sound deadening in this room you are speaking in.
A rug, some blankets hung where you are talking into, and such.
Also bringing the mic closer (while keeping it out of scene) will work better because you don't have to send your voice across the room to hit the mic. So there is less noise and air being picked up by the mic.
Thank you very much for the in-depth video about technical writing!
Hi there! You may want to check the captions on this lecture? "Unicorn Spear Dragon Bridge works with that we won't" does sound fascinating but probably not what a tech writer does ;)

Transition from UX Writing to Technical Writing or vice versa? Which is more common? I have a background in UX design but ended up doing content writing.
I have a question. What would be good side gigs for a technical writer with technical illustration skills in the aerospace, semiconductor and telemedicine industry background?
If a technical writer, writes a step by step process, which way is more appropriate/correct. Should he/she put the step by step process BEFORE explaining what the OUTPUT of the process is OR should the explanation of what the OUTPUT is---be placed AFTER the step-by-processs. Example: If I wish to add a specific type of notation to something and there is a process to performing that notation. Should the type of notation I want to write come BEFORE the procedure that consists of the step-by-step process?
Energy industry as well. I'm in the nuclear industry.
