My mom's cat Pearly always tries to either follow her or stop her from leaving when she goes out to do something. But once she's out she'll either wait at the door or cry at the door while waiting.
I have 4 cats, one I call “my” cat because she is the most affectionate to me, one day I was sent to a mental hospital for treatment and was put in inpatient. When I called my dad the next morning my dad told me that when he got home she wouldn’t stop meowing at him, she knows I either come home with my brother from school or if I do get home without him that I’m with either mom or dad. I didn’t come home with anyone so she got worried and started meowing at my dad to find me. This continued for 3 days were she was meowing at everyone in the house trying to get them to bring me home. When I finally did after a week she acted distant for a few hours before meowing for cuddles, she apparently was a little salty about me being gone for so long but once that was over she refused to leave me alone
yeah that's what i thought of too 😭🫶 whenever i go on trips and vacations, my cat is so excited to see me when i come back and it's heart warming and breaking at the same time 😢
I have a cat who will instantly run over to me purring if I make eye contact with her, even if she’s on the complete opposite side of the room. She’s adorable and I love her.

And one of them, Wolf, seems to wish good luck to my dad when he goes to work and when I go to school, so I guess they really do think we’re hunting! But my other kitty, Panda, she mostly likes to be in my mama’s room on the bed to rest. She like it when WE do most the hunting. And when we go on vacation, when we get them to a friend for family member to take care of them while we are gone, both my cats and my dog are crying for us! It’s cute but sad that they miss us. ❤️
Omg I went on a holiday for 10 days in another country and couldnt bring my cat. When I came back home it literally jumped on me and started meowing so so loud. 😭 Poor little fella, he probably thought I died during the "hunt".

I think the simplest way to explain how cats view their owners is that you're basically their landlord and roommate. They just happen to live in the same place as you, and whether they get along with you or not depends on the situation. They don't need to let you interact with them 24/7, they can find a corner or something to have some time to themselves. They don't feel pressured to take care of the house, they let that be your job.
When I'm away during some time, be it the whole day or some days, my cat will punch and bite my leg, meow at me during hooours, and of course demand a lot of cuddles and pets. She is the sweetest, is like she is saying "don't you have a house to go back to, you rascal???"

My grandparents have a British Shorthair, we gone to Romania for a few weeks (where they live) and after i forgot to revisit her which was for two days (as i revisit her daily or mostly stay there with her) she greeted me nicely :3 Also pretty off-topic, but the first time i was staying with her for a few days (still in the holidays) and i gone shopping and kept her with my Grandma, when i came home and sat down, she brushed against my legs (which is rare but i think she was doing that to ward off any predators that might come at me which is basically the cat's protection instinct) but when i came home unscathed with no extra scent on me then she realized i was fine and stopped doing it.
