Guilty of DLC? Have you played any of the DLC's for Fallout or The Elder Scrolls? They are fucking amazing and cheap. Plus they don't start making DLC until after they've made the base game. Just because a company makes DLC it dosn't mean a damn thing - it's the DLC quality that counts.

I like Bethesda because the company is willing to risk investing in new IP's. In the last 5 years, they produced Brink, Hunted: The Demons Forge, Rage, Dishonoured, The Evil Within and, soon, Battlecry. Some of these titles successful, others less so. 6 new IP's may not seem like a lot, but consider this; EA and Activision produce games at double the rate as Bethesda, yet have produced less new IP's. That is, of course, you're willing to count their contributions to the mobile market as reasonable comparison to Bethesda's primary platform titles. Hell, Destiny is Activisions first new IP since 2010.

I think people get confused with the dumbing down thing. Morrowind was more complex and Skyrim is more content filled. They are the same when it comes to greatness in my opinion
CJ Jordan Yes Morrowind was complex, and complex means both intricate and smart. but each generation of the game been less complex than the last, that is the very definition of Dumbed Down. i can agree with mods being one of the great selling points for Bethesda games though. I downloaded A Tale of Two Wastelands, and Project Nevada to fill my Fallout fix for a while. But it shouldn't be on the modding community to bring the core mechanics of these games up to the level of their predecessors. Bethesda needs to understand that their player base is smart enough to handle a higher level of complexity in game mechanic, they don't need their games to be glorified phone app games.

Bethesda's games from a technical standpoint are actually pretty terrible. their games are full of bugs and glitches and often the subject of poor design decisions. But, in spite of all of that, they are without a doubt one of the best around. Their games have this kind of unique charm that is hard to describe that other developers simply don't have. 5 years ago, if you had asked me what my favorite developer was, it would probably be something like Bungie or Bioware, and Bethesda wouldn't even be in the top 5. but now, Bethesda has been scoring hit after hit while many other well established developers have gotten more and more out of touch with what the average gamer likes.

The thing about Bethesda and DLC is that the base game makes you WANT more content because of how good it is. Knowing how good the base game is you can consistently trust that the DLC they aren't actively shoving down your throat is going to be above par or amazing. At the very least it always feels worth the money. I consider them among the best, if not THE best at what they do. I can't remember a single time I have ever felt betrayed by Bethesda from Morrowind on. They have given me some of the most memorable, lovable and creative moments in my gaming history. Thank you, Bethesda. Never let us down! At least not too much.. No ones perfect But you come the closest.
I've really enjoyed this video a lot, I'd love to see more stuff like this, you've done it amazingly well. About Bethesda, my favourite company, the are not perfect of couse, as everyone, but the have those unique characteristics in their games that make them so special you instantly know it their product. Todd Howard's message is one of the most sincere of the gaming industry: "we make the games we want to play".

I have not disliked a single Bethesda game. I hope to work at Bethesda one day. Oblivion is what introduced me to RPGs and their games. Skyrim made me love them. Despite it's flaws, Fallout 4 is my favorite game of all time. I really like Wolfenstein too. Also, keep up the good work Gameranx!

A good point was made about the DLC for Bethesda games. For a game like COD or Destiny I get the DLC because I have to in order to keep up with the crowd. With a Bethesda game I get the DLC because I want the DLC (for no other reason than to have fun).
Bethesda does things differently to most companies. Even look at some of their DLCs as examples; in the Fallout and Elder Scrolls series, they make more than DLCs, they make full-fledged Expansions. It's awesome to see, and it lets you know these people are always working on their games, always trying to please their fans.
I absolutely loved the elder scrolls games when I first tried them as a kid and I love bethesda for them. I havent been disappointed with Bethesda yet and they make great, quality games. Cant wait to try dishonored 2 when it comes out, looks awesome.

Probably should have mentioned that, with the purchase of id software, Bethesda acquired the Quake IP and so now is one of the few game companies to have their very own convention. Quakecon. It isn't quite Blizzcon status, but it is pretty legit.

I didn't care about the fallout series, it was just one of those games that I really didn't look into. I didn't hate but I didn't like, but looking at fallout 4 and how awsome it looks, I decided to look into fallout 3 and it is AWSOME! I'm glad I watched the fallout 4 trailer.

I think people get confused with the dumbing down thing. Morrowind was more complex and Skyrim is more content filled. They are the same when it comes to greatness in my opinion

i can agree with mods being one of the great selling points for Bethesda games though. I downloaded A Tale of Two Wastelands, and Project Nevada to fill my Fallout fix for a while. But it shouldn't be on the modding community to bring the core mechanics of these games up to the level of their predecessors. Bethesda needs to understand that their player base is smart enough to handle a higher level of complexity in game mechanic, they don't need their games to be glorified phone app games.
The automatron dlc is worth it because it adds 2-4 hours of extra gameplay and robot companions that don't care what you do

Bethesda's games from a technical standpoint are actually pretty terrible. their games are full of bugs and glitches and often the subject of poor design decisions. But, in spite of all of that, they are without a doubt one of the best around. Their games have this kind of unique charm that is hard to describe that other developers simply don't have. 5 years ago, if you had asked me what my favorite developer was, it would probably be something like Bungie or Bioware, and Bethesda wouldn't even be in the top 5. but now, Bethesda has been scoring hit after hit while many other well established developers have gotten more and more out of touch with what the average gamer likes.

The thing about Bethesda and DLC is that the base game makes you WANT more content because of how good it is. Knowing how good the base game is you can consistently trust that the DLC they aren't actively shoving down your throat is going to be above par or amazing. At the very least it always feels worth the money. I consider them among the best, if not THE best at what they do. I can't remember a single time I have ever felt betrayed by Bethesda from Morrowind on. They have given me some of the most memorable, lovable and creative moments in my gaming history. Thank you, Bethesda. Never let us down! At least not too much.. No ones perfect

About Bethesda, my favourite company, the are not perfect of couse, as everyone, but the have those unique characteristics in their games that make them so special you instantly know it their product. Todd Howard's message is one of the most sincere of the gaming industry: "we make the games we want to play".

I have not disliked a single Bethesda game. I hope to work at Bethesda one day. Oblivion is what introduced me to RPGs and their games. Skyrim made me love them. Despite it's flaws, Fallout 4 is my favorite game of all time. I really like Wolfenstein too. Also, keep up the good work Gameranx!

A good point was made about the DLC for Bethesda games. For a game like COD or Destiny I get the DLC because I have to in order to keep up with the crowd. With a Bethesda game I get the DLC because I want the DLC (for no other reason than to have fun).
Bethesda does things differently to most companies. Even look at some of their DLCs as examples; in the Fallout and Elder Scrolls series, they make more than DLCs, they make full-fledged Expansions. It's awesome to see, and it lets you know these people are always working on their games, always trying to please their fans.
